Comfortable flat. Great location. We did have some problems with the dishwasher followed by a power cut, but they were sorted out.

We booked a lovely apt, Veneto Deco, through Holiday Velvet as well as a car to pick us up from the airport. After payment, we received instructions on where to meet the driver-they were incorrect and the shop they said to meet in front of has not existed for a least a year we were told. The driver did not turn up so we called him. He said he knew nothing about it, would check and call us back. We waited 20 mins and he never called back. We kept calling him and he hung up or did not answer. We also called both the Holiday Velvet "emergency number" as well as the office number (it was not 6pm in the UK yet) and there was an answering machine.

We then became concerned and called the apt owner who was lovely and told us to take a cab. In the cab more than half an hour later, we received a call from James Burrows of Holiday Velvet who said our driver had confirmed the booking, it was 'not his problem as it was not his company' and he would call the driver to find out what happened and call us back. He never did. That was the last we heard of James and we will ensure that our friends and family do not use this company. Unless you want to be stranded, ignored and lied to, do not use this company.

The apartment, owner and service by the owner was lovely and impeccable. We advised him to list with another company and I hope he does. Don't ruin your holiday-use another company.

This was our first experience vacationing by renting an apartment in Europe, and we were a little worried about attempting this. However Holiday Velvet walked us through the process, letting us know what we needed to do, answering any questions we had , and made our stay in an apartment in Montmartre a once in a lifetime experience. The apartment was just as advertised, and more. We were always made to feel that if we had any problem we always had a "friend" to call for help. I would recommend this company to anyone who is planning this type of vacation.

We booked a 3 bedroom apartment for 5 people through holiday velvet to NYC 41 West 46th Street, First impressions the hallway and landing area was filthy dirty with electrical cables hanging from walls and ceilings.
Inside the apartment was no better hardly any lighting and live cables handing from walls, no smoke alarm, no fire escape (we were on 3rd floor) no windows opened and there were restaurants down below, if there had been a fire we would have been trapped. Toliet door lock broken, had no heating or hot water for 2 days, this apartment is totally unacceptable to rent out to holiday makers, the photos on Holiday Velvet website did not give a true impression of what the apartment was like. When complained we had no hot water nothing was done about it. Will never book again through Holiday Velvet or recommed to friends

On 17 June 2014 we booked a 2 bedroom apartment in Rome, on arrival it clearly had 1 bedroom with a sofa bed in the lounge. On 26 June 2014 HV confirmed by email that the description of the apartment on their website was wrong, it was listed twice, as a I bed and a 2 bed, and there was a price difference. Its now September and we have received no refund, either of the price difference, or the fact that it seriously messed up our time in Rome.
We were also charged an additional 46 Euros for a check in fee. The voucher, printed the evening before our arrival in Rome, shows the outstanding balance and the amount for cleaning but makes no mention of a check in fee. As proof, the voucher was scanned and emailed to HV but, other than a response saying they were investigating, no refund.
Follow up emails have received no response.
Holiday Velvet obviously work on the principle that folk will tire of complaining if they are ignored but misleading advertising and hidden fees are serious and we will try our best to warn potential customers in New Zealand that they are an unreliable company. We spent much more time than we considered reasonable emailing and phoning offices in Rome and UK.

For anyone still reading: the apartment we rented had serious electricity problems. Dont know much about wiring but got worried when the hair dryer went on fire and the toaster blew the electrics in the apartment, consequently didnt use it. Also an irate neighbour complained about the noisy air conditioner.

Appartment in Rome was dirty and bathroom smelled badly of urine… Garbages cans were disgusting that we did not want to touch them and we did not use the kitchen… Oh! and wifi "included" not working until the day before we left… Great not even an offer from the landlord to adjust the price…

On the other hand your service to reserve for a car with chauffeur from and to the airport did not show up. Not reliable even if I called the person in charge he said he would call me back in less than 5 minutes… Nobody called back and when I called again not taking my call… Super and full of respect! I am just happy I did not pay in advance via your site… It would have been lost money and nobody responsible for it.

This apartment was large by European standards and very nice. The owner, Tadeusz, met us at the house with a bottle of wine, flowers and a few groceries. He also took us to the airport at the end of our stay which required him to get to the apartment at 4:00 am! He really went above and beyond any expectations we had. The apartment was clean and well kept and all 5 people were comfortable. I would definitely recommend this apartment and we will use it again when we return to Gdansk!

The place we stayed in was a small, cozy, ground floor converted duplex. As an apartment, it was somewhat dingy and basic. Downsides included non-functional AC (cooler outside than in apartment), and dangerous stairs for the loft bedroom (very steep metal funky design), and the clothes dryer doesn't work well either. Nevertheless, the experience was great (as we only slept there primarily) because of the location and neighborhood (central to everywhere, close to nice beach and all happening along the shore, easy access to groceries and neighborhood feel of bars and restaurants to choose from). Would definitely come back to this neighborhood but would likely choose another apartment.

The apartment is spacious and located at a very convenient place. Although the check-in office is not nearby but the office is near to the bus terminal so considered convenient. Nice place =)

all the arrangements worked like clockwork and the person meeting us at the airport was excellent and similarly with the lady showing us the apartment made us feel welcome. There were 4 of us staying in the apartment and we enjoyed the facilities immensely – and the location could not be better. The only item which we thought would be of concern to some prospective renters was the 54 steps from piazza to entrance (we managed them OK) Just loved it -Will go back next year for sure.

This apartment was all that was stated and as it appeared on the internet. The beds were comfortable the location central and yet quiet. Vinnod was
waiting for us when we arrived and gave very detailed explanations re
the use of range, washing machine, keys etc. Air conditioning worked well
and was certainly welcome after a hot day walking around Rome. There
was plenty of hot water . We have 2 MINOR complaints. The kitchen is small. Don't plan on eating with 8 people at the table. And the sofa bed in the living room has a fold and is not very comfortable. However it is certainly worth the price and we would stay there again.

I rented two apartments in the same building, the one downstair had no hot water (had to use the shower upstair) there was no soap to wash your hands or to wash your drinking glasses. In the unit upstair the air condition didn't work the batteries on the TV remote were on the counter fully corroded ( I didn't care about the TV but it shows poor care) The Wifi did not work, the password was not accurate. I called maintenance and left a message but nobody called back or came by to fix anything
Happy we were there for only two days

Our stay at Porta del Pincio was very enjoyable. The location was superb
and we were able to walk or use metro everywhere. The bedroom/bathroom numbers worked out fine for us since the sofa folded out to make a bed. We enjoyed dining on the terrace a couple of evenings. On another note, however, the power situation was not good. We had to turn off air conditioners to use dishwasher or laundry and at times the hairdryers (three females). The contact person was extremely responsive to our first power failure and we were most grateful. After we learned the drill we were able to handle the outages..it would be most helpful to have more information on the operating of the apartment and to have as well a coffee maker. We wound up buying one and took it with us to Florence…where there was already an automatic coffee maker. All in all a good experience

Booking with Holiday-Velvet online was straightforward, and there is a discount for those with a code (ask an agent). Their website is relatively easy to use and has a lot of good information. We stayed recently at the lovely Rome Fontana Grande apartment, which was much larger than we expected. The furnishings are in good taste, and everything was in good working condition. The Pros: spacious living room / dining area; WiFi; good air conditioning; small elevator for luggage; well-appointed kitchen / breakfast nook. The property manager, Geraldine, is very pleasant and helpful. The apartment is in a great location, and we easily walked to sights such as Trevi Fountain (alas, undergoing major renovation in June 2014), Quirinale, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Villa Borghese, multiple piazzas (Navona, Popolo, etc), and shopping. The apartment is a short taxi ride from the Termini station, the Colosseum / Forum, and Vatican City. There are coffee shops, good restaurants, and a couple of grocery stores nearby. Small Cons: sturdy bunk beds in second bedroom may not work for everyone (but more than fine for our teenagers); not enough hot water for more than one person to take a shower at a time; missing a loveseat in living room; ask manager how to use the washing machine. But the place was overall great, and we definitely recommend it for a smaller family. We would stay in this apartment again!

What could be bad– 2 terraces- breakfast and drinks overlooking the Eiffel Tower— lovely apartment- which we rented for 9 nights in June. 2 bedrooms made traveling with a friend easy. Neighborhood quiet- with good stores nearby. Good transportation- with buses and metro handy.
A lovely place to stay.

I tried to get the full address and other details via the Holiday Velvet Website prior to departure – no luck. Upon arriving in Rome I was informed that our apartment was not available. Instead we were put in an unsafe place. I had a feeling this whole reservation was doomed due to the poor service I had received already. So I only paid 2 days in the other apartment. The biggest issue with the place was the water from the shower ran down the wall and into the electrical outlet (I am an electrical engineer and have done electrical work so I know a non-grounded outlet when I see one). There were no lights in the hall when you enter the door and prepare yourself for many more steps with no handrail. We also had no wifi. I said on the 2nd day that if the person who "helped" us in Rome, Constanza, did not deliver the wifi and lightbulb "Domani" like she said, I would find a new reservation. Of course, she "forgot". So we rented an apartment through airbnb. The apartment we rented through Holiday Velvet was never seen, nor did HV respond to the original requests as stated. In addition – please understand that Holiday Velvet only contracts through a 3rd party, not the owner in all cases. Therefore, when you pay Holiday Velvet – you do not have any leverage to get what you need through the service person they contract. NEVER AGAIN. I want my money refunded. The urine smell in the apartment alone made it uninhabitable! forget about all the bugs, spiders and steps with no lights!

Holidal Velvet did all they were asked and more. The rating I am giving is only for the apartment….not Holiday Velvet's service. They are good people to work with. Unfortunately, the apartment needs lots of work. The kitchen cooking equipment (pots and pans) and other actual cooking items are sadly in need of replacement. The same goes for the furniture and comfort in allthe rooms. The owner seems to have just left and left his things in the drowers….Interesting!!!! It is a LARGE square metre or square foot place, but NOT what the pictures show. It was our worst "For Rent By Owner type of place we stayed at in 6 weeks in Italy and Amsterdam. We are not new to this and this place does not measure up unless you are a family with small children and need a place for them to run around. This will be perfect for you. Again, I am rating the apartment as poor…..Holiday-Velvet gets TOP marks! I am just sorry they have to be responsible for this apartment.

We found a lovely vacation rental apartment through Holiday Velvet and they served as a liaison between us & the apartment management company. We appreciated their help very much.

This location is perfect and the apartment is comfortably spacious by Roman standards. We couldn't have been happier. The unit sits near a lively cafe/bar. While some noise comes with this, we didn't mind it, and found the amenity of the cafe worth it.

The apartment is very well located in the heart of Seville, but almost impossible to get to by car, no parking close by and very narrow streets to negotiate on the one way stystem through the old city. The aparment is well maintained and has everything you need, a lovely terrace and comfortable sitting room. The upstairs bedroom and bathroom is spacious and well equipped, the only negative I have is that this room is very hot, the aircon doesn't work up there and this was not a hot time of the year. A fan would have been helped. Miguel who met us was very informative and and adviced us on where to park the car.
