I have avoided Goldcar because of their awful reviews I used Interrent and have been more than satisfied, this time I was once again booked with Interrent and was horrified to learn that they are now Goldcar, collection was no problem and fast no attempt to up sell insurance, the policy on minor scratching etc was the same as intterent. Fast forward to return and no problems fast return and immediate lift back to Brindisi airport.
Now I have to deceide do I use them again ( I visit Brindisi 6 or 7 times a year)I feel they deserve my custom, but what if the staff change?
I recommend this branch but cannot comment on other locations

can in no way be recommended. no flexibility. great pressure to take out extra insurance even though I am covered. purchase of 3 hours extra last day 136 euros. which is more than the total car rental for 4 days !!!!! stay away.

and then they would not start my order until 3pm so I waited 1/2 hour. in return I had to return as there were many damages to the car that were not registered and guess who would have to pay for them ,,, so we ended up driving there from almost an hour after I had ordered the car. ,,,, tiresome.

Only trust Hertz and Sixt (worth paying just abit more)!!!! This company is a SCAM!! You're pick a car on their website believing its just 拢350, "Do You Spain" will then pick a car rental company for you, but you won't know who it is until you pay, your have to wait 10 minutes for your email to come though and they happened to choose "Click Rent" which is the worst car company! We went to pick up the car at "Click Rent" but they requested us to pay another 拢250 and we had to travel 30 minutes outside of the airport to pick the car up. "Do You Spain" don't refund so in the end we paid 拢600 for a rubbish small Opel Corsa car, which believe it or not broke down 15 minutes later down a dual carriage way with flat tyres, engine failure and a rear light that wasn't working. The Government really need to step in here, these companies are seriously dangerous and ruin holidays. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE – Don't trust these companies!!!

178 鈧?for a Citro毛n C2 for one week, it's ok. When it's asked you if you want extra cover insurance ( 177鈧?indeed!) you say "no, thank you, I have it on my internet contract". After one week, at check-out, you have to wait more than 1 hour because clients on departure have priority on clients coming back . Obviously, you give up check-out because you are afraid to miss your plane ! Some hours after, you receive a mail. Oh wonderful ! Roswell UFO 1947 survivor , unless it is Nessie, has let a message for you, a improbable scratch on the front bumper ! Only 260鈧?for such a sign, really il's marvellous…

The first car offered was badly damaged which was not shown on their initial paperwork of existing damage. It also has a torn tyre and was not roadworthy. The second car offered at the last minute, not by the main office but the guy in the pick up area did not have damage paperwork ready so we didn鈥檛 get anything written. He said the car was perfect. Already growing dusk I pointed out some scuffs and scratches and he took some photos but said other things I pointed out were not worth photographing. We expected the damage report to come by email but it never did, only the damage report for the first car which had been rejected. We emailed and phoned numerous times but never got a satisfactory response and generally no reseat all. Needless to say, when we returned the car they claimed we had damaged it which we know we didn鈥檛. It had been parked on our drive for the entire time save driving to and from the airport. Weeks later we remain in dispute with this company. They apparently rely on people taking out their exorbitantly expensive insurance and then claiming back for damage which they allege has been caused. Never, never again.

Collected at Barcelona airport. First car was so damaged and had a torn tyre so was rejected. Second car didn鈥檛 have all the necessary paperwork and we still have not received it despite many phone calls and emails. Still in dispute with Goldcar who tried to say we had damaged the car when we certainly do not. Will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN and advise others to avoid them at all costs.

At Nice airport today , Goldcar, acting for Interrent, (which they now control under the Europecar corporate umbrella, I think, but it's complicated) had me sign a contract accepting the damage that they had certified before rather than after sending me to inspect the car. Beware of that electronic signature they ask you for, I mean at what point you give it!

This is the worst experience I have ever had with any service-related company. Oh my god, I dont even now where to start. Its terrible, its just terrible. Please do not use them, spend the extra money on eny other carrental then this! We landed in Nice with our 2-yearold late one night. We Just wanted to pick up our car and be on our way. We have rented cars in France 5 year in a row, and have never had a problem before. Well, we arrived to goldcar and there was a long line. It did not move at all, and after a while someone told us we had to registrer and get a number… So, we did. And we had ca 30 people before us. The line did not move. People were getting aggressiv after 2 hours. It was terrible and our daughter was so tired. She was also scared by all the angry people. It was insane! One of the persons working for goldcar went out in the crowd and started to yell "you can pay 50euros, and we can help you faster". For us thats a lot of money, but because of our daughter we did it… Then it took about 30min, and we got our car. After almost 3 hours and 50e… When we came to our car, turns out that there is no seat for our girl (that we had payd for) Super annoying!! We had to go to a NEW line. Waited about 20min this time. And they had no seats available!! Finally we found one seat, but it was broken.. We got a seat eventially. After almost 5 hours (!!!!!) we were on our way. What a nightmare.

I really did not want to give any starts to this Company but it is the only way you can report them !!!!!!!

I took my car rental contract with Inter rent and was directed to Gold car which I definitely did not want after reading the reviews. The representatives at the desk were less than a robot !!!!!! They were not interested in how they could help !!!! I had to cancel my agreement due to unforeseen circumstances. My husband is Italian and spoke on my behalf and found them Disgusting. !!! Unsympathetic and rude at times not only to us but other clients who were picking up their cars. ! These people are the first contact with Italy !!!! You need to look at this !!!!!! Do not book a car with this company. !!!!!

We opted for Goldcar to save a few pennies and I will never do this again. In short, the pick up process was tedious and packed with hard selling.

I thought I鈥檇 just wave off all the extras and policies they would try to up-sell at the counter, but even so we still had to endure half an hour of horror stories to try and pressure us into buying policies we didn鈥檛 want or need (we had a third party excess cover, which we made clear).

At one point the sales rep (Selim), repeated himself so many times about the benefits of his excess cover I had to say look we鈥檝e said 鈥渘o thanks鈥?twice, we don鈥檛 want it. At which point he said either we let him finish or we don鈥檛 get the car! Great service!

The person next to the delightful Selim employed similar tactics on someone else, stating that a puncture would cost 400 euro to repair unless you take out their policy, what a load of rubbish. Save your stress levels and go with someone else.

I must be one of very many people who have been bullied into taking out excess waiver insurance even though I had it purchased prior to collecting my hire car. The treatment at Palma, Mallorca airport was awful and I will never go near Goldcar again, I advise everyone to avoid the company, ignore the cheap rates as they will get your money in some way. We were really hassled by the operative and we even witnessed a physical altercation between a client and a Goldcar operative while we were at the desk . . avoid this company.

We had booked a car at Marseille airport.
The pick up took over an hour due to them wanting a huge deposit despite us having our own excess cover.
We also had to use this insurance as they said the tiny marks on the car needed to be corrected, which we did not contribute too, and because the the long booking process we did not take the extra time to comment on the marks at the time of hire.

Unbelievably bad experience at Marseilles Airport. The pick up was a lengthy process as they tried to push their own expensive insurance, even though I had my own cover. The car was covered in marks which I should have photographed, because when I returned the car they blamed me and then charged 鈧?00 for 2 tiny scratches. An absolute disgrace. They need investigating.

DO NOT USE 鈥?BEYOND TERRIBLE

The car was booked and payed for via Booking.com. Shame on you, booking.com for recommended such a bad company. Google 'Scam Goldcar' you'll quickly see the extent of this companies scams.

They use pushy sales techniques and if you've booked a car through booking.com (with full insurance) they tell you that they have no record of what you've payed. So, they advise you to pay for the full insurance cover with them 鈥?an extra 拢160. They also charged me for an extra 拢120 鈥?I have no idea what that's for. There's no mention of it in the contract.

They take your card first, then they make you sign on an electronic screen…. THEN they give you the contract. So you have no idea what you're signing for. In hindsight, I should have stopped and asked… but the lady behind the desk was extremely pushy and it all happened very quickly.

Also, if you hire a car in Mulhouse-Basel, Interrent Goldcar is on the French side. They DO NOT TELL YOU ABOUT THE SWISS DISK you need to buy on the border. Apparently that's "not their responsibility or job"… would be bloody nice to have been told. If stopped by the police, it's a 250鈧?fine. Interrent tell you it's a 500鈧?fine… they charge you interest.

When I picked up the car, it was filthy 鈥?mud everywhere, scratches and not cleaned at all inside. When I told the lady about the long clumps of hair left on the passenger seat head rest, she came over and picked them off one buy one, dropping them onto the floor 鈥?rude and bad attitude.

Do yourself a favour and pay a little extra and choose a larger car rental and book directly. You'll save money, time and a lot of worrying in the long run.

Do not use, they steal from you credit card, they lie at the service desk, I was over charged by 拢590 they ignore all correspondence you send to them. Disgusting . AVOID AVOID AVOID. They ignore official complaints and should be investigated and shut down.

Based on my experience and what I've read on them, I am almost certain that this Company has a policy in place which objective is to make money out of their customer by properly ripping them off.

I rented only once from them at Bordeaux Airport and have been completely scammed. The car I returned had small scratches at the back – a couple of them, so small that it was not necessary to report them anyway, by contract. Those were already there when I took the car, but I failed to mention them as it was very dark (23:30) and either way I didn't have to report them under the contract (scratches were too small).

When returning the car, the personnel on the ground told me that I wouldn't have to pay for those scratches given how small they were. "It's okay Mr Lopes, don't worry about it, you go and board your flight…". I only found out after I landed back in my country that that they had charged me 234拢.

The worst of the worst in that experience is that I had absolutely no recourse against their decision, none, except going to court. I have never witnessed such a level of scamming for a Company of that size. I took my loss, but you can be sure I will never EVER rent out from them again. Do check reviews before you sign something with them, there will be a 50% chance they will cause you trouble.

This Company is so low cost that they will try their very best to take advantage of any negligence on your side – and by negligence I mean not checking 10 times the car when receiving it, with all appropriate pictures to back up the fact that you are not responsible for pre-existing scratches.

Rented a car at Bordeaux Airport with Goldcar. I paid for the car in full before arriving at the airport. They then said that I only had 3rd party insurance, if I was happy with this then would need to pay them over 拢1,000 on my card as a deposit in case I damaged the car. I could not put this on my credit card as they didn't take AMEX! I don't have that kind of money in my account to cover it. I then opted to pay what I though was an extra 拢30 to get fully comprehensive (that's the way they explain it) and realised when I looked at the paperwork they give you (after the transaction) that I had paid 拢90 to upgrade. My own car insurance is not much more than this for the whole year! This was more than the initial rental cost me in the first place. I would not use Goldcar again and would warn anyone else thinking of using them.

We hired a car from Goldcar in Dubrovnik airport and soon realised it was a mistake. There was a huge queue waiting to be served, every customer had hassles with insurance coverage and when we were finally served we were not given the car we booked ie a compact, nippy car suitable for driving in Montenegro where the roads are often narrow & very steep. The staff insisted we had to take this massive Citreon which had a rubbish clutch, was hard to manoeuver and was far from suitable for our holiday. We definitely learned our lesson and will book directly with a well known car hire company next time – despite it being more expensive.

Booked a rental from Marseilles airport (stupidly without checking the reviews!). Although the base rental price is cheap (拢33 for us), be aware that you're only covered for 3rd party and they insist you pay for fully comprehensive insurance at extra charge (拢84 for us) or they take 拢3000 on a credit card. They don't accept damage waiver reduction from a 3rd party insurer so add that to the bill too. Additional drivers are free however. Quite a long queue at the airport but we got the car within 30 minutes and the rest of the experience was straight-forward.

Avoid at faro. They weren鈥檛 event 1star
Kept us waiting 2 hours, even though we had a baby and my daughter was pregnant they didn鈥檛 care.
Told us the Axa insurance we had taken out through the website we booked on was not valid, told me my pin was wrong and if I tried again my cc would be blocked.
I tried again, called my bank no transaction had been requested , only after I had my bank on the phone for 35 mins did they put it through.
I asked to cancel the car, was told no you can鈥檛.
Hard sell on their tip off insurance, rude staff.
Horrible start to our holiday.
I know I鈥檓 going to have a fight to get my deposits back.
MBNA were brilliant
I could go on but just don鈥檛 use them they are scammers

I dealt with Goldcar at their Marseille airport rental desk. Unprofessional, lacking in compassion, money-grabbing, rude. Pay a little extra and go with a good car rental company such as Alamo/Hertz/Avis if you can afford it. You get what you pay for.

I have never used Goldcar before and I cannot recommend them. At the collection desk at Toulouse Airport we were subjected to the worst kind of upselling I have ever experienced. The Goldcar representative was determined to use scaremongering tactics to get us to buy extra insurance. Since I already hold a policy for Excess Car Insurance I politely declined. She was most insistent that my policy would not be enough protection and that even the smallest damage would involve us paying enormous sums of money. This company prey on their customers insecurity. Never have I experienced such awful behaviour from a car rental company. Do not use this company. They are cheap, but then try and extract a lot of money out of you at the outset. Not a good way to begin a holiday. Avoid like the plague.
