Collaborative Care

I came to Jackie when I decided to move forward with egg retrievals in preparation for IVF at age 38. My doctor informed me that I was technically "infertile" as indicated by low AMH levels. I saw Jackie in preparation for three retrievals. She is super knowledgeable and compassionate with an excellent bedside manner; you cannot find someone kinder than her. Each retrieval was successful and in total we got close to 20 eggs over the 3 retrievals. Fast forward to age 41 and I again visited Jackie to prep my body for FET (frozen embryo transfer). The FET worked on the first try and I recently gave birth to a very healthy baby girl. I strongly credit Jackie for a lot of this. I don't know why modern medicine doesn't focus on basics such as diet and stress.

Regarding treatments, I did herbs, acupuncture and received dietary advice. If you've never done acupuncture, you're in for a treat. I've never been so relaxed not to mention all the health benefits you're getting from each treatment. I can not recommend her enough as I have done a lot of research on the topic of fertility and acupuncture is one that has been proven to be successful.

After a scary and stressful experience with ectopic pregnancy, I wanted to do something to help my body heal and do everything I could to prepare for a new, healthy pregnancy. I feel so lucky to have found Jackie, as her care was exactly what my body needed. She is one of the most thoughtful, detailed and supportive people I have ever met. I'm so incredibly happy to report that I started a healthy pregnancy in the second month under Jackie's care, and now have a very healthy and happy baby girl. I highly recommend Collaborative Care.

Jackie is wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about her. I had a hard time as I was scared of needles. She was very reassuring, listened to my fears and always explained why and where she would be putting the needles. I also have a hard time sitting and relaxing. She always made sure I was comfortable and let use the sessions the way I needed by letting my husband attend to have someone to talk with to take my mind off of the process.

Jackie has extensive knowledge and I really appreciated that she never pushed products or treatments and her availability is great. I was pregnant after my first month of going to Jackie via IUI. My body really responded to her treatments and dietary suggestions.

Collaborative Care and Jackie's treatments made a huge difference for me as I struggled with some unknown fertility issues. I liked the one price for any and all services she thought I needed (compared to the other places that applied more charges based on all the little things they may recommend like herbs, teas, different sessions etc.). I immediately felt Jackie listened and truly cared about helping me to my goal of getting pregnant with a healthy baby and after three months of treatment I had accomplished that goal. I highly recommend Collaborative care for anyone else looking for this type of treatment associated with their own fertility issues.

Jackie was a tremendous help to my husband and I in a stressful and emotional time. She is a very capable and caring person who really invests herself in patient care. We struggled with fertility after I was diagnosed with PCOS, and within 3 months of seeing Jackie I was pregnant! I kept going to Jackie even after we conceived because it was such a relaxing and stress relieving activity. I am so grateful to have met Jackie and would highly recommend her services.

I can't say enough about how pleased I was with Jackie's care! I sought her out initially because I had preeclampsia with my first pregnancy and my midwives and I discussed trying to stave it off for my second pregnancy with acupuncture. From the moment I walked into her office on Southport I knew I was in very capable hands. Not only was Jackie instrumental, I believe, in helping us avoid preeclampsia this second time around but I also credit her with helping to turn our wee one in my final trimester. Our baby boy needed a little coaxing to get head down and ready for delivery. One quick call to Jackie and she got me in immediately. In 2 sessions he was head down and stayed that way until the big day. She was positive and reassuring through it all and I will be forever grateful.
Jackie has such a beautiful spirit and was a fantastic listener so every visit was a bright spot in my week. I knew she was considering my care on a very individual level and always felt like she was focused on me and the long term care of our baby. She recommended an easy to manage program considering the best course of treatment and accommodating my busy schedule. She never rushed an appointment but was always on time and very respectful. She was such a calming force during my pregnancy and I always walked out of her space floating on air.
I will be forever grateful to Jackie for her conscientious care and for helping us to have the birth experience we wished for all along!

Before seeing Jackie, I struggled with becoming pregnant for just about 2 years. I had done multiple IUI rounds, clomid rounds, IVF. I ended up getting pregnant on my first clomid/IUI round and unfortunately, lost the pregnancy when a cyst ruptured and I had surgery to remove a significant amount of blood loss. My husband and I continued working with our fertility doctor without luck. After IVF, I overstimulated and went to emergency. It was the most horrific experience (and we lost 8 embryos). At that point, I knew I needed to make a change. I'm a person that eats clean (along with my lifestyle) and something in me knew I needed to adjust my diet and that I would get pregnant on my own. I started doing research and also called my insurance company and this is when I found Jackie. I had seen acupuncturists in the past, but when I met her, I felt comfortable and relaxed. It was soothing to talk to her. She took into account my previous experiences and health issues. I immediately changed my diet based on her recommendations. I was extremely committed to her plan. Keep in mind, I was a vegetarian for 8 years until she told me to eat grass fed/organic/pasture raised meat. I started seeing her in October 2015 and I had a positive pregnancy test on November 30, 2015. I call Jackie our miracle worker because I believe that at the time she was exactly what I needed. I've recommended Jackie to many friends who are still struggling with fertility and firmly believe that without her help I would not have gotten pregnant. I can't even explain how good it feels to be in this position now. For those of you who are still trying, keep your head up and have faith. I know how dark that place can be – the unknown of being able to have a child. I used to cry all of the time and walk around with a dark cloud over my head. But, listen to your body and intuition and do what you think is best for your body. I'm happy to say that my sweet little guy is now 5 weeks old and it's amazing!

I stumbled across Jackie's website about 6 months into my secondary fertility ordeal. I was 35 years old, had just miscarried and been diagnosed with a diminished ovarian reserve and given very low odds at conceiving without IVF (1% to be exact). I was feeling pretty hopeless about my situation and decided that while I waited to switch insurance plans to one with IVF coverage that I would try more natural ways to enhance my fertility. I first went to a popular acupuncture spot in River North but I didn't get the sense that they tailored the treatment to the individual patient. It seemed like everybody was given the same herbs and there was an upcharge to meet with their dietary expert. I left that place after a couple months because I wholeheartedly believed that diet had to have an impact on fertility. When I first met Jackie, I was really interested to hear that she put her clients on an individualized diet plan and tailored the herbs throughout the process to address certain problems. I work full time at a demanding and stressful job and have a preschooler at home so Jackie's office set-up and office hours were also important factors (I could see her in the loop during work hours or come in on a Saturday morning). Her compassion and patience as I navigated through one of the most stressful times of my life was amazing. For the first time during the ordeal, I felt like I had a team in place to help me navigate this bumpy road. She helped me evaluate fertility doctors and treatment plans and she provided support as I went through a second miscarriage and D&C.

Jackie never made me feel rushed and over time I started feeling more like myself (maybe my hormones were coming back into balance?). My husband even commented that he didn't know what I did there or how it worked but that I seemed like a happier, more adjusted person after I started seeing Jackie.

As for the effectiveness of my treatments… I started seeing Jackie in September of 2015 with a luteal phase defect that she helped correct and ended up pregnant again naturally in mid-November. That resulted in a blighted ovum and D&C in December 2015. I was then preparing myself to finally start fertility treatment in January but was told I couldn't start until the next month since there was residual hcg in my system from my prior miscarried pregnancy. Before I even got a chance to come back to start treatment at the fertility doctor's office, I got pregnant again naturally the first cycle after the D&C and am now 21 weeks and this pregnancy appears to be going smoothly. I continued to see Jackie for several weeks after my positive pregnancy test and she was a great source of comfort as my anxiety was through the roof during those early weeks following two back to back miscarriages. The fact that I ended up pregnant twice after starting with Jackie after almost a year of nothing except for one miscarriage is pretty astonishing and a testament to the fact that something was clearly working.

I really wish I had found Jackie sooner as she was most definitely "MVP" of my fertility team. She helped me through a really difficult period of my life (physically and emotionally) and I can't thank her enough! If I'm crazy enough to try this all again for another child, she will be my first call!

My husband and I recognized we were infertile within a year of trying to conceive. We were both 34 at the time. We began acupuncture therapy with Jackie very shortly after, and recognized immediately that we had not just met a therapist, but also a friend. I have said on numerous occasions, despite being in the care of one of Chicago's most highly rated fertility doctors, that I felt like Jackie was my primary care provider. She accepted text and email messages with questions I had at any stage, worked with my challenging schedule, and remained positive through three years of infertility. My husband and I even went through three rounds of IVF with very poor results. In the end, under Jackie's guidance we focused on my diet, a DHEA supplement on her recommendation, and acupuncture treatment. Under her care, we ended up conceiving naturally and now have a two month old son (who is perfect and healthy). I vividly remember the day that I told her I had a positive pregnancy test …we were both in tears. I've never had a better care provider in all my life, sincerely. She is a great listener, incredibly knowledgeable, and so good at what she does. I should also mention that Jackie was very respectful of our work with more traditional fertility doctors. Her prerogative was to help us conceive, not to push any particular ideology on how to do so. It was never difficult for me to reconcile the different avenues of care. In fact, I felt like she educated me on the details of the traditional methods of care more thoroughly than the doctors who were treating us. I know our work together made all the difference in our ability to finally conceive. If you are a woman struggling with infertility, I sincerely recommend that you seek Jackie's help.

Jackie is amazing! I struggled with infertility for 2 years and saw her through several IUI and IVF cycles. I'm currently 6 months pregnant and definitely feel like I have Jackie to thank. She is so knowledgable about all the stages of IUI and IVF. She is also so positive, reassuring, and calming. I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone at any stage in the fertility process!

Update to my review…At the end of my pregnancy I came down with Bell's palsy, and half of my face was completely paralyzed. Jackie made time to get me in for treatment and with three weeks, my face was back to normal.
After the sessions I could feel a real difference in my face. Three weeks is about the best case for a full recovery of Bells and I just know that acupuncture helped me get back to normal as fast as possible.

I started working with Jackie because at 40 years old, I wanted to enter this process as strong and healthy as possible. We conceived the first month of working with Jackie. Not only that, but my entire pregnancy has been virtually symptom free. I feel amazing and I owe a lot of this to starting off from a strong place with Jackie's program. Whether you have infertility issues or not, I highly recommend that you see her when you plan to conceive. I know it made all the difference to us. Best wishes…

I worked with Jackie before and during two pregnancies. She was an absolute pleasure to work with; a great listener and a patient guide on the journey toward motherhood. She provided Moxibustion, herbs, and electrical stimulation treatments in addition to the regular acupuncture sessions. I highly recommend her services!

Jackie was a beacon of light and hope through a very difficult time. What strikes me most about our sessions is how much and how well she listens. She asked thoughtful, specific questions and adjusted her treatment to fit whatever was going on with me that day or week. Jackie's calming and caring presence, combined with the acupuncture, herbs and other treatments, work wonders. I highly recommend her to women struggling with fertility!

If you are struggling to get pregnant and want compassionate, informed, holistic care, go see Jackie O'Neill at Collaborative Care. I'm 12 weeks pregnant after trying for 18 months, and I credit Jackie's comprehensive approach and deep knowledge of all things reproductive. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have investigated immunological disorders that might've been preventing me from getting pregnant (turns out I have one!). On top of that, she is simply one of the kindest, warmest acupuncturists you'll ever meet. I continue to receive acupuncture from her during my pregnancy and always look forward to the calm, relaxing atmosphere inside her clinic.
