My wife and I purchased 1 x custom chesterfield sofa and 2 x custom foot stools from the company in mid 2016; we paid approximately $9250. The receipt states a 25-year guarantee on the leather and there is a lifetime warranty statement on their website (search online DCl). We noticed a small tear in the leather on one cushion seat cover which appeared less than 9 months after the furniture was delivered to our new address. We also noticed some discolouring around the leather pleats requiring tanning at that time. I notified the company by phone and email of the damage including images on 7 April 2018 and requested that someone from the company contact me to arrange for the repair work to be done. I received an email on 1 May stating that the damage sofa will be fixed. No repair work has been attempted or completed to date. I had made repeated attempts to follow this up with the company by telephone and email; the company representatives are extremely unresponsive and difficult to contact. This was also noted by the officer from NSW Fair Trading.

I guess the repair work might cost approximately $300. However, the cushioning is of poor quality, quite lumpy and uneven, despite assurances from the company staff when we inspected the sofa that it will 鈥榮ettle over time鈥? We are very concerned about the overall quality of the sofa and have lost confidence in the company鈥檚 guarantees, both in writing and on their website, to honour future repairs, which is why we have decided to seek a return of the goods and a full refund.

The company representative sent me this email last, clearly in an attempt to obfuscate Australian manufacturer guarantees.

WARNING TO CUSTOMERS >>>We had to pay a full deposit amount which was over 10,000. We were also told it would be three months. It is now 9 months from purchase and still we have no chesterfeilds. I would recommend avoiding destictive chesterfeilds australia. Very dodgy. We still havnt seen our money or chesterfeilds.
