Working normally through my email account and doing banking, suddenly there was a pop-up notice that my computer was infected鈥攄on鈥檛 shut down鈥攃all this 877 number immediately. All of this was accompanied by a whistling noise and a monotone voice saying I was hacked. I called. The only way to remedy the situation and return my computer to normal was to pay for their technicians to run a scan – $249.99 on my credit card – sign an agreement with them – and then they tried to sell me 5 years of protection鈥攖hen as I protested the high cost, 3 years and then finally one year鈥?which I thankfully didn鈥檛 buy. Later I went to the Microsoft store to have my computer checked鈥攖hey told me I had been scammed and to cancel my credit card鈥攚hich I did. I am now in a dispute with Inilink through my credit card. They froze my computer again yesterday!
