ING Australia

7 years with ING, and they are unwilling to adjust my home loan rate to even match their published rate on their web site. Two of their staff have confirmed that as a long term customer I am less important to them than any new customer. They keep telling me about my "special discount" which puts me 0.25% *above* the advertised rate that anyone can get

Avoid like the plague

I have been with ING for a few years now. Never had a problem with them, great customer service. And it's amazing that they rebate me for ATM fees and international currency exchange fees.

when applying for personal loans the options are misleading and doesn't allow for each persons situation, THIS ING does not offer debt consolidation, regardless that they offer it as a selection as "what will you use the loan for"

Happy with ING, especially refunds of ATM fees and international transaction fees. Getting a bank cheque was also fee-free and very easy!

When I got my home loan through ing the interest rate was 3.8%. Since then they have made several increases that put it above the rate offered to new customers. I can understand that in the current financial atmosphere why they are upping rates but I have paid more than double the minimum repayment every week for my 30 year loan. After speaking a loan adviser I have moved product and will likely pay my loan off sooner. Glad to see they have reduced rates at .25 in line with other banks and the RBA. If you feel the product they have offered you is not suitable. Have a chat with their loan team they are very helpful.

We've had an experience where we ordered nursery furniture online from a well known merchant – the total amount was $3,800 and we purchased it with our ING Visa card. The furniture merchant was able to charge our ING account almost double the amount ordered (Over $6900) and ING has no security processes in place to ensure that the amount taken out of our account equals the order amount. So basically if you ordered say a $50 product online with a merchant, ING would allow that merchant to take as many funds from your account as they wish.
We've called ING twice to rectify the matter and both instances have resulted in them suggesting I call the merchant to rectify as they are unable to do so.
I've called the merchant twice and emailed twice and they have not rectified, saying it is ING's mistake

Surely you would expect ING to provide security of your finances if you are their customer. This is not the case. Be warned.

I have two transactional accounts with ING, and to take advantage of their no fee on international transactions I applied for a credit card. In their application process there was no information on their lending criteria – turns out that while they are happy to take my money; they are unwilling to offer credit as I am a New Zealander living in Australia for 8 years now on a Special Category Visa. I now have an enquiry against my credit rating for which I would not have continued with my application had I known that they discriminate!!!! If you are a NZer in Australia stay clear of this dodgy bank.

Brilliant bank

ING is the best change from the big four. No fees, ATM rebates, good customer service, probably the best online banking website and a high interest savings account.

If you are looking to bank with ING here鈥檚 a $25 referral code : GBP344

Over my lifetime I've had an account with just about every bank in NSW – Westpac, Commonwealth, ANZ, St George, etc., and tolerated each one for years. I finally opened an account with ING when they first started out as Orange. This was a savings account attached to my regular bank account, and when they brought out the everyday account I opened an account with them and closed my regular account, and linking my savings account with my new ING everyday account.

I cannot recommend ING more highly, for the quality of their accounts, and their outstanding customer service. ING is banking online, with an app also available for your mobile phone, and the site is very easy to navigate. You're issued with a Visa debit card to use at ATM's and EFTPOS etc, and you pay the ATM fee but are reimbursed that fee almost immediately by ING, so you never pay for ATM fees, ever! There are no bank fees and the savings account linked to your everyday account pays interest, plus a bonus interest at the same rate.

I once had my account wiped out of $700 in 5 minutes flat, by someone in America who somehow got hold of my details. The bank texted me about unusual activity straight away and after checking my account I phoned them on their 24 hour phone line. I had to cancel my card but they organised a new account I could access quickly and transfer from my savings account so I had some cash, and they told me it might be up to a month to get my money back. However, it was all back into my account in less than a week, and the inconvenience was so little that if it happened again, I would have every confidence that ING would take care of it. I've since had to dispute some transactions, and ING have come through for me every time.

And the icing on the cake is that every now and then, they offer some fantastic bonuses. I recently was given a $70 Myers gift card because I took out contents insurance with them. One that comes up often is the $100 bonus for you and anyone who opens an account with ING over a certain period, and the conditions are easy. They just have to open an everyday account and a linked savings account, then deposit a minimum amount into the everyday account for one month (I think it's $1,000), like your pay cheque, and make 4 transactions with your card in that month. Then at the end of that month you will both have your accounts credited with $100. How easy is that?

I've had bad experiences with most banks. One time when my son was young, he would save all his coins then deposit them into a kids account he had. One time he didn't make any transactions in 12 months so they took an inactivity fee of $35, which was half of what he had in there. I stormed into our branch, demanded the account be closed and my son be given the balance, and called them "nothing but legitimate thieves, stealing from a child". So having been with ING for over two decades, I can honestly say that I have not had one single problem with them, I'm very, very happy with their products and service, and I actually make money with this account, instead of losing it to fees and penalties, which is what has happened with every other bank I've dealt with. If you want a good bank then maybe go somewhere else. If you want a fantastic bank, then ING is it!!!

I absolutely love all the current service and apps however I would love a financial calculator that allows me to arrange future payments while also tracking my income and expected expenses.

Using the ING banking service has been very good up to date however, as a retiree I will find using my card 5 times a month to pay for purchases going to be a pain in the proverbial. Most stores insist on a minim spend of at least $5 or $10 per transaction, that's $50 a month in some cases. This plus monthly cash withdrawals for general expenses and direct debits that are withdrawn from my every day account each month, all tend to add up not leaving much room to save from the age pension. A pensioner concession on card usage would be very much appreciated.

I have banked with ING for many years and have never had problems. The customer service team is very good. I recently got contents insurance with ING too. Not only was it easy but also was a lot cheaper than the other 3 quotes (one was from the group which was recommended by One Big Switch).

In 10 minutes I was able to create the new account I needed with a custom PIN I can easilly remember. When I forgot to note my coupon code I contacted customer service and I recieved a personalised response on the same day, saying they would still be crediting me with the bonus. So far so good!.

Choosing ING has been a part of a larger financial review my wife and I undertook. We've been delighted with the simplicity of ING accounts, complemented by a comprehensive range of products from which we've been able to choose. I can well understand why The Barefoot Investor recommends ING!!

Great bank to have. Most of the cards are also on Android Pay. Its really easy to use, and the app is now just short of fantastic. I would prefer it that they enabled fingerprint ID as security. Also, for the new Orange ONE Credit Card, the most annoying this is that you have to wait for the funds to clear the card to the vendor before you pay the card. This can take days. You should be able to load up the Credit Account whenever you want. Also, it is not available yet on Android Pay.

I've had a smooth time with ING, I've always been with the same bank until this year and now I'm regretting not stepping out of my comfort zone sooner! I always had little issues with my other bank but haven't had a single flaw yet and am very happy! My partner and I both moved to ING for a joint account and recommend you guys to everyone now 🙂
