I called IFD to purchase an exhaust fan for my attic. After discussing my needs with the salesperson, they suggested a Triangle fan and thermostat. After receiving the fan (they never even shipped the thermostat) my electrician wired up the fan. Upon tuning it on, the lights flickered, the house shook and the noise was unbearable. I contacted IFD immediately and explained my concerns. They stated that the fan I ordered was made for a warehouse, not a residential home. It pulls 10amps on startup with a 1/2 hp motor! The manufacturer called me and suggested I change the belt and one of the pulleys to reduce the speed of the fan, but why should I have to disassemble a brand new fan and purchase parts (at my expense) for an incorrectly ordered fan? Their online refund policy indicates a 25% restocking fee if there was an error made by IFD, but they still wont honor the return of an essentially brand new fan that their salesperson incorrectly ordered for me. How is that not an error by IFD? Refusing to honor their return policy, not standing behind their product. Had to dispute the charge with Amex and file complaints just to get an exchange for a correct fan. Ridiculous.
