this company sent me a inacurate energy bill 1 1/2 years after i stopped using them along side a threatening letter from a debt collecting agency. i called to confirm that i had submitted my readings when i finished doing buisness with them and check the bill was accurate to which i was informed it was a accurate bill and i needed to pay the money or i would be taken to court. i paid the bill which turned out to be completely inacurate and it has been a nightmare trying to get my money refunded. all of the phone staff are completely incompitent. avoid this company. they should be shut down for criminal behaviour.

Here is my latest email to them as of today 10th October 2020, it speaks for itself:
I was told by Bulb (the supplier I have been paying for gas for the last almost 2 years at this address) that the switch was made on 30th September 2020, finally? I gave them and yourselves a meter reading on that day.
I have spent hours and hours emailing / calling and still it is not resolved, I really am entirely fed up with this.
Ever hopeful and completely drained of energy which is annoyingly ironic. I hope one day I have an enormous energy farm and then when you owe me three million pounds I will send you a bill for 4 million pounds and let you spend hours and hours emailing me and calling me and send you round and round in never ending circles so you go completely mad and contemplate trying to generate your own energy. Oh yes, I forgot to say, halfway through I will decide to sell my company to another company who somehow manages to do exactly the same thing but strangely enough appears to have exactly the same telephone contact number, and a collections department that is completely separate from the customer services department and the two never communicate with one another, making sure it drives you not just slightly insane, but totally raving bonkers. I've even contemplated buying a tinfoil hat from amazon to protect myself, just in case this is a conspiracy of Green Star Energy or Shell Energy or whatever energy company is conspiring against me, I'm beginning to wonder, I was told at school that energy can't be created or destroyed, what a shame!

I was paying 拢36.56 per month by direct debit for the duration of the one year contract. I didn't want to leave before 12 months although the customer service was shockingly inept, notably very rude and dismissive. Incidentally, 拢36.56 was the highest monthly payment I ever made to an energy supplier.
They were provided with regular meter readings and I left owing them nothing. At no point during this year did they once tell me I wasn't paying enough (it would have been odd to hear this, but it didn't happen anyway).
Fast forward almost three years later and I get a bill claiming I owed 拢273. Also, a solicitors letter threatening to issue a Default Notice. Both coordinated to arrive at the same time. Speechless. Initially, they played a charm offensive. We will look into this for you by our complaints manager. I asked how could I owe this when I was paying by DD each month and all I got back was a series of no doubt scripted responses ranging from, we weren't collecting the correct amount, bills were estimated not actual, bills were cancelled and raised again. Some goodwill gesture…threats sustained and if I don't pay, they'll remove the discount/goodwill gesture. In other words, just pay what we ask you to pay. Don't you dare have the audacity to question us.
Seems to me intimidating customers, producing phantom bills, lying, bullying is all part of their business model and it won't surprise me if they target customers who actually have a good record of paying on time.
I have read some of the horror stories on here and it happens when you agree a payment plan, but they already had access to my bank account for 12 months so I'm not giving it to them again. Rather I am considering taking all the evidence I have when the time comes, including what is here on Trustpilot and we can argue the toss in court. They have not produced one meter reading to show that this debt they're demanding isn't just fiction and that is because that is exactly what it is.

This company is not worth even one star. They sold me overnight to shell energy I have been asking them to provide a evidence of what they told me about when i inquired about the 拢500 bill I was told my neighbours are using my electricity up to today I was left with a bill for 拢500 within 6 month by that time I was working full time not spending time at home .on smart meters i used 拢6 or less per week. And i don't understand how my bill for electricity was higher than gas. Now this new company is harassing me because I refused to pay that money as until they provide that evidence to me the only thing they do keep on asking me to talk call them so they will solve the problem. They lied to me and mislead me .They send debt collectors to harras me for no reason .I told them to take me to Court because now is 拢2000 .And am not going to pay as until they provide that evidence when I call them they dont pick up the phone.

Wouldn鈥檛 recommend these to an enemy total a##eholes supposedly 拢50 in credit but really 拢500 in debit can鈥檛 get through on phone for ages finally get through then find out can have bills posted or text which would have sorted any problems out before they arose.dont bother with a smart meter either company that installs them about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.

I had only been with Green Star 5/6 months before they decided to give me a 拢2000 gas bill for only a months worth of gas!
I've called and spoke to people who have no clue what they are talking about and sent in photos of my meters twice. I have had a debt collection letter and multiple red letters about final reminders for my bill when it's always the first and only letter I receive before paying.
The lady on the phone asked if I wanted to set up a direct debit to pay off the debt. When I told her I wasn't going to pay because I don't owe anything she replied with "but how do you know you don't owe?"
Well, if she had looked, I pay my bills every month. And who the hell could even rack up 拢2000 for a months worth of gas??
I managed to call the debt collection agency and have them put a pause on my account but I'm worried green star will mess with this.
Trading standards should really take a good look at this fraudulent company.

Was with green star about five years ago no problems on advice from someone on helping the elderly went with another company for a few years until prices were going up.went back to green star Feb 2018 very happy until Jan this year when they increased my d/d by 12 pounds and then in march increased another7 pounds. Over the year it always covered my gas. So I have now changed to Bristol energy so hopefully I will be happy. I always read my meter once a month and send it and I always put in my diary. I have now taken a photo of my last statement which show's me being in credit.

I am in the unfortunate position of having moved into a flat where Green Star Energy was the existing energy supplier. Goodness knows why the previous tenant chose this company, but he or she clearly did not heed any of the warnings on this site. Thankfully I made the decision on day 1 to move to a different supplier (big shout-out to Octopus Energy!). That was in mid-September last year, and now in mid-February, I am still awaiting a correct closing bill from Green Star. They insist on charging me for using 23 units of gas for the duration of time before the new supplier came into effect, when my meter readings (which they have seen) show that I in fact only consumed just 1 unit. After disputing this bill, I was told my account was on hold and that I should await further communication. I waited, and two months later, through the door came exactly the same bill, and, to my inbox an email threatening to pass my account to a debt collection agency! This company is, at best, utterly incompetent. Do not even consider choosing them as your energy supplier. And if like me, you've had to end up dealing with them through no fault of your own, you have my every sympathy.

This is a very bad company to go with.
I joined them in February last year , I cancelled my contract with them long before my 30 days Lee way, but they didn't cancel it , a month later after trying to contact them repeatedly I managed to get through to them after telling them I would be contacting trading standards , I put a grievance in and they said it would get sorted, after 5 months later I get a bill which I couldn't pay at once so they put me on a direct debit to pay so much each month for 6 months, I paid 2 instalments then in next thing I get an email saying my bank has cancelled my direct debit , neither me or my bank cancelled it, so again after weeks trying to contact them I got through to them and set my direct debit up again and they said my next payment would be jan 2020, well today I got another email saying my direct debit is not set up and they attached a letter to the email which will not open, I have just tried to ring them at 8,10 this morning after 2 attempts I got through to a person asking me to ring back later today as he cannot deal with anything , he didn't even ask why I was ringing or anything , well I'm busy today so they can wait till monday . I have never ever known a company so bad so if you are thinking of changing to green star energy company avoid like the plague

There should be a minus star on the rating scale, I have never known such a incompetent bunch of clowns at green star customer support, they are unable to deal with anything regarding a deceased persons account, continued to send emails to their address after being told of the situation, the engaged zinc for debt collection after being give copies of death certificate and probate. I would have never believed a company could act in such an incompetent manner.
Don't use Green Star at any cost.

awful company – sent debt collection letter 2 years after I left asking for 拢120 – no contact from them – no usage statements or proof – just straight to debt collectors. Looks like their billing system is very poor and management woefully inept – Avoid at all costs

Without doubt the worst company I have ever had to deal with. They took a huge amount of money from my mother-in-laws account months after she had closed her account, leaving her with nothing. The bank had to recover it. After some hassle they agreed to a repayment plan, only to threaten debt collection days later. They cannot be trusted. They never provide a full answer to questions. They have never offered a sincere apology and now… while we are still awaiting a response about how to settle the account they have invoked debt enforcement. They even e-mail a debt threats on CHRISTMAS DAY!!! All this has been caused by the utter failure to engage with an active complaint in a timely and respectful way. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES would I recommend anyone using this company.

Left Greenstar Energy in March 2018 whith no outstanding bills. Yesterday (6th January 2020) I received a letter from a debt collection agency called Zinc advising that I allegedly owe just shy of 拢200! No statement of account, just a demand for payment. Absolutely dumbfounded and a complaint to Ofgem will be made.

Left Green Star Energy nearly 2 years ago having a zero balance and today have received a letter from Zinc Credit Management saying I owe just short of 拢200 without any form of statement.I鈥檓 not even going to engage with them but complained directly to Ofgem. It鈥檚 this kind of poor customer service that gets energy companies a bad name but also generates waste communication and as a result increases their costs. Get your act together!

Was with Green Star left them after our bill doubled and the electric meter failed and Green Star refused to replace it, went with Scottish Power they tried to make us have smart meters told them no, now they have put us in fuel debt for first time ever, went from 拢151 in credit to over 拢300 in debt they say we have used 35112 units of electricity since we joined them end of May 2019, we live in a 3 bed end of terrace not bloody Tesco superstore over the road it would take us 10 years to use that much electricity but they won't listen just like Green Star!

If I could have put no stars I would have, after 35 mins on hold waiting to speak to someone I eventually get told that the reason I can't see my bill on line is that their platform is down and that I won't have access for the foreseeable future. I asked to speak to a manager, the guy wouldn't transfer me and kept saying "they'll only say what I'm saying". after 45 mins I ask to have my bills e-mailed to me.
After 55 mins I ask to make a formal complaint and have to wait another 10 mins for the guy to log it.
When I review my bills I cannot make sense of the readings.
Shocking service and really expensive and deliberately misleading.
Misquoted and have a huge bill of 拢2k outstanding.
I've now started the process of switching, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Do not use this company for your energy supply.
They changed my meters in 2018 but didn't update the meter register with the new number. When I moved companies in Feb 2019 Green Star didn't respond or take forward the switch then started chasing me for my cancelled DD, billing me after Feb 2019 in the end I got the Energy Ombudsman involved who told GS that they were not entitled to charge me for electricity as they didn't have my meter details correct (again they were the ones who changed it!!!) and to give me a refund along with compensation to do this within 28 days – its now been two months and they have only just started to pull their finger out there behinds because I chased it up yesterday.
Terrible company. Trying to get through to them is horrendous, you've more chance of winning the Euromillions jackpot, they do not respond to emails, they also do not apologise for their absolute diabolical customer service either.

Moved in to flat that had been repossessed, found letters addressed to "The Occupier" form them and contacted them to give my details. Told them I was the new owner and was asked for my account number, I don't have an account number I'm new. Was then told to send a copy of the tenancy agreement to them. Told them there isn't one I OWN it. Phone conversation then went completely incomprehensible so I emailed the same details to them. Got I reply in pigeon English again asking for the tenancy agreement. Replied again telling them there was no tenancy agreement. They said they'd send the final bill out for for the landlord to pay. At this point I gave up waited for the bill to arrive, it did threatening recovery action. I then phoned and shouted at them over the phone I was the new owner, only then did it sink in.

I moved into a property supplied by green star 2 years ago. It took me ages just to even get through to someone one the phone to give them my details (several days of calling, being on hold over an hr each time and having to abandon calls). Over the 2 years countless billing errors, unclear pricing and rubbish customer service. Just tried to switch to British Gas last month. Green star kept blocking the switch but not telling me. British Gas contacted me to say they were having problems! Shady business all round! Avoid!
