I set my account to no auto renew. I assume this is why they phoned me on Jan 18 asking me if I was renewing for $395US for 3 years. I said, "Absolutely not!" I wasn't using it very much, and that is way too much for what I do. Caroline R said, let me see what I can do, and sent me an email offering around 250USD with 48 hours to respond or the offer would be withdrawn.

Meanwhile, I had decided not to keep the service because it was way to expensive for the amount I use it. I ensured my account wasn't on auto renew. I knew the credit card I used to set up 3 years ago had expired although I still have the same number. My GG account had a big red banner stating no valid payment option was available on my account.

On February 6,22 hours before my site expired, at 2AM, Green Geeks put the $395US charge through on an expired credit card.

I disputed immediately by trouble ticket and email. Their best offer? I can cancel auto renew now if I wish, but I will not get a refund and it will cancel my service immediately.

They make accounts automatically auto renew and it is very difficult to turn off. If you do, apparently they phone to try to get you to purchase, as they did me on Jan 18. And, in my case, I am of the view they have put an unauthorized charge on my credit card account, and have contacted my bank. The only remedy GG is offering is to keep my money and terminate their webhosting of my site immediately, although apparently I've now paid for 3 more years despite, 1) having advised verbally on Jan 18 would not renew, 2) turning off auto renew, and 3) trying to ensure they did not have a "valid payment option".

I strongly advise people to avoid a company that needs to resort to this type of business practice.

Because of the pandemic, I could not pay for the service anymore. But I was very happy with it. They give enought directions for people who is untrained for using this service. So the process was piece ok cake for me!

I have been with GreenGeeks for many years (more than ten) – usually a satisfied customer; however, when I need to speak to support – my blood pressure goes up; I become a frustrated nut. Why? The responses I get – the support ticket process might be the culprit, either way, it is not helpful. Usually, I just give up and find a way to handle it otherwise – but today, and this is not the first time, they stopped responding to me – I guess because I was not very happy with the person handling the ticket – I am not sure. In the end – I said, "Just cancel the ticket – I will deal with it when I am overcharged and someone might listen." Instead they took this as I wanted the process I was calling about cancelled, and cancelled it. I made the mistake in the first place so the blame is not on them, but the support to resolve is always so aggravating – the responses are always, quick and thoughtless. This only ever happens in tier1- if I get to another tier, it gets handled fine, I don't have to call again for a while, when I do, my day is always ruined – upset. Now they are not responding to my tickets at all. I have waited for a response for over four hours now – nothing, apparently punishing me. Let me say this: the support has always been a problem. Always! Why do long term customers not say anything? Because most of the time we don't have to contact them, but when we do – it is either fast and simple or absolutely horrible. Quick responses that are, stating the obvious, not helpful in any way, and at times, passive aggressive. When I feel it is possible for me to loose my cool – I wont contact them until it is absolutely necessary and I know I can be calm. I thought today was going to be that day. 100% awesome until you need to contact them. I will say this, the last time I was upset, they never apologized, they did offer a discount that I never received – but they did change the way they were doing business. The ticketing system – an industry standard, it bears no accountability for handling a problem more than one or two exchanges between you and support, after that you are in the abyss.

biggest scammers and server with most failures ever sawor had to experience , never do bussiness with them , there service sucks , and repeating always same failures, they sell you unlimited space but then block you with something inodes wich you cant check , more when they did transfer they have imported all wrong and have a huge amnount of broken empty images , wich i cant even delete , tried all ways , after they give you bad advice and the problems repeat every fiew days , dont waste you time to buy there server , worthlles and scammers

I am in the web developing business from the last 23 years and used some other hosting companies before I signed up with GreenGeeks.com and find out that GreenGeeks is the BEST hosting company out there! Because, they are professional, provide what they offer, and care about their customers. Oh, by the way don't fall for those sites where they say top 10 hosting companies because that's the mistake I made in the past, and I am lucky that I find the GreenGeeks.com, a company works the American way!

Also, I CANNOT understand how someone could give a one-star review for such a great company. Don't blame GreenGeeks because of sneaky WP plugins and themes people are using because they are free.

Service isn't impressive.
I've used greengeeks for years as its the only green host im familiar with.
That said, their support sucks. The people expect you to fully understand coding and what they do, which isn't customer service, do not communicate clearly, are are pretty dismissive. I had a recent issue, suggested what i thought was the issue, they quickly wrote it off and then insisted for 5 hours it was something else, which i continued to explain was unlikely.

12 hours later, you know who solved it? this gal. with zero training in this realm. And you know what it was related to? exactly what i suggested.

its really frustrating that you dont speak with the same service person, there isn't an option except email to communicate, and it's pretty clear they dont put a lot of time into helping you with an issue. this is not the first time i have had this experience.
I want to be supportive, but there are definitely some flaws in their support.

Green geeks blocked our remotely working web designers and techs to log in to do their jobs. We ended up loosing over 拢5000 and inherited massive number of complaints due to malpractices of greengeeks!
Greengeeks is a perfect solution for disaster!
If you are a company do your self a favour by avoiding greengeeks!

I REQESTED 5 TIMES TO OPEN NEW TICKET FOR BACKUP WHERE CHAT AGENTS ADVISED ME TO WAIT " FEW MORE HOURS" THIS IS GREEN GEEKS FOR YOU!

Beware their TOS and auto renewal – all customer service wants to do is tell you how the TOS justify their actions not listen to the customer! Refunds are only promised for new accounts – once they have in their system they will keep taking your money, and any discussion of refunds goes back to TOS. They might be eco friendly they are not customer friendly.
update: I did finally receive a partial refund and if you read their response it simply reiterates my complaint!

I have had nothing but trouble with them, horrible costumer service. My sites are down constantly, they claim its the word press that installs corrupted files and they block your sites, all your costumers see is 403 and the take forever to get it fixed, the Google rating is long gone by the time the sites are back. STAY AWAY.

I have been a customer since 2011. Not use have I any down time or issues that were not resolved or looked at promptly. The service can be prepared to many but the human touch and support is above and beyond. plus its also green. win win

AVOID !!!

1/ to dowload a jetpack backup more than 2 houres for just 500mb, with each 5/10mn need to resume the download even if i have a 8mb connection

2/ moved my account to you just because its stated a ""wordpress hosting", but same issue like my old regular hosting, error 500 / site unreachable, even if the site is under construction, just to make a change on 1 product, what will be happen when i will have live customer & visitor ???

3/ no way to backup with UpdraftPlus, memory limite error, NEED TO TRY AND try & RETRY

4/ new site with just 50 product & 350/500 total MB content, but cpanel stat that already 24% inodes/File Usage used

look like nothing changed from 2017 to 2020 (as i already got a very bed experience as a reseller account with you on 2017).

thats clear its a not a dedicated hosting for wordpress but just a shared hosting with the name (wordpress hosting), just a scam to pay more with the same price as a shared account !!!

all hosting trough softacoulus provide wp install, dedi/special wordpress hosting mean its a hosting that feat minimum resource for a wordpress site !!!

sure if i order normal/basic shared hosting i will have same quality as what you stat/name (wordpress hosting) … just A SCAM !!!!

There are two types of web hosting companies, GreenGeeks Web Hosting and the others. Seriously, they are exceptionally different and they are at the highest level of support. Being in the hosting business myself for some years, I haven't seen an innovative yet simple web hosting platform like GreenGeeks'. All I will say is keep it up, keep innovating and stay up there!

I have been a GreenGeeks customer for more than two years. Since the first day I joined I have been so impressed with the support I have received. I rarely have reason to request support from GreenGeeks because their servers are maintained and updated with no downtime to my sites. I normally contact support because I have questions about services they provide or for additions to my service. GreenGeeks has live support with agents that are immediately available all day, every day so there is no waiting and they have the ability of resolving the vast majority of issues. For more complex matters I can open a support ticket or the first tier support agents will open a ticket as needed. Support tickets are resolved immediately and I have never waited more than a day even for complex requests. The fact that GreenGeeks shares my concern for the environment and actually takes action to improve our world gives me piece of mind.
