This company cold calls relentlessly from an 'International' number. A recorded message give the option to be removed from their database but this doesn't work as the calls continue.

If you get to speak to someone then they have Scottish accents and give you a spheel about being able to provide PVC windows with 'funding' from Zenith finance – the funding is actually a loan.

They desperately try to get as much information as possible from you over the phone. I provided a lot of false information to see what they actually wanted. They wanted to arrange a visit from a 'surveyor' to look at my windows and doors to presumably work out how much money they could 'fund' me.

When I asked if they had heard about the telephone preference service (TPS) they said they had but they obviously don't honor it.

Next time they ring I'll go a step further and arrange for them to come and visit me – although I might accidentally give them the address of my solicitor instead, or perhaps the local police station? If they want to keep wasting my time then I'll waste theirs.

Three complaints were investigated by the ASA:
The complainant(s) challenged whether the following claims were misleading and could be substantiated:
1. 鈥?Limited funding available鈥?
2. 鈥溾€?we鈥檙e offering you a much better deal鈥? and
3. 鈥淲e are the UK鈥檚 number one green deal funding provider鈥?

The company failed to responsd and the complaint was upheld.

"The ASA noted that there was no registered legal entity behind the website greendealfunding.net and the registrant of the website had used a domain privacy service to set up the website which concealed their identity. We were concerned by Green Deal Funding鈥檚 lack of a substantive response and apparent disregard for the Code, which was a breach of CAP Code (Edition 12) rule 1.7 (Unreasonable delay). We reminded them of their responsibility to provide a substantive response to our enquiries and told them to do so in future.

1 & 2. Upheld

The ASA noted that the web page was offering a replacement windows funding scheme. In that context, we considered that consumers would interpret the claims 鈥淟imited Funding Available鈥?and 鈥渨e鈥檙e offering you a much better deal鈥?to mean that there was a limited amount of funding available from Green Deal Funding and that their deal was more competitive than the official energy grants offered by the government.

In the absence of any evidence in support of the claims, we concluded that the claims had not been substantiated and were misleading."

On this basis, this seems to be the type of company that ends up on Watchdog.
