Avoid! After return they charge huge amounts for damage you did not make. Scams!

Green Motion Latvia is TERRIBLE! STAY AWAY! SCAM! RIP-OFF! DO NOT use it! THE WORST car rental company ever. We are frequent travelers to Latvia and have tried several car rental companies. Everywhere else everything was great except at green Motion at Riga International airport. We received a scratched car and were charged 300 eur for a scratch that was not there when we brought back the car. The return station is unserviced, so a few hours later they sent email that they have found a scratch. We know how and where we drove and that that scratch was not there when we returned the car. Bunch of lousy scammers and thieves.

We are frequent travelers to Latvia and have tried several car rental companies at the Riga International Airport or Riga city center. Green Motion Latvia we have used twice, both times had a bad experience and therefore we strongly recommend to use any other car rental company in Latvia except Green Motion. There are plenty of honest ones, for instance AddCar, Europcar, Alamo, Budget – with these we have good experience.
First time we rented from Green Motion we had cleaned our car right before return, but we were still charged a cleaning fee.
Second time we had booked a car and arrived on time, but we had to phone to get our key. The car had many scratches when we received it and after returning they charged 300 eur for reparation. For that money the whole car can be painted. If the money was used for it is charged for every client would get a fresh painted car and their cars would not have any scratches when we (and obviously many other clients) received it. Unfortunately there are many other similar reviews, so it looks like a regular scam.

NEVER EVER AGAIN will rent a car from them! they charged me 720EUR for 3 small scratches after I returned the car which I don't believe I done it as I picked up the car wet and dirty so could not see all pre-existing damages!

My supporting agent, Santa, was very helpful and supported me with a damage that unfortunately happened to the car very dearly. Thank you!

Seems funny how i just rented a car from Green Motion on 13th to 15 th Feb 2020 and had exactly the same charge for 2 "new" scratches as the previous post on 7th Feb. I video'd the car on return and they state the car was too dirty to prove that the scratches they found after cleaning weren't already there. the member of staff who collected the car in the car park just took the keys from me and drove off at speed away from the airport, no checks were done on the car before he took it!!!!!! Absolutely disgusting!!!

Yes they are cheap for renting, but in the end it will cost for you more than others companies.
Just received charges for 2 small scratches – 432 EUR + administration fee – 72 EUR
Collected car on evening and have not checked if they existed or no.

Never again!!! Not because I had to pay for a damage, but for all the surprises I had to pay. If I would know about them, I would choose different provider.
I don鈥檛 want to blame, the staff. I think it is about company policy. So, to share couple of surprises when renting with Greenmotion in Latvia:
– Cross-border fee – you will be charged extra 35 Eur. So far I was renting a lot in Italy and Germany and did not face any additional payment for this. I think living in EU with more formal borders, it is rather way to earn additional money, rather charging for additional expences.
– administration charge 72 EUR – if you receive a ticket for speedIng or other, that you might not be aware especially when traveling not in a home country, you will be charged 72 Eur. I was charged 30 in Germany. I can鈥檛 understand why In Latvia would charge 72 EUR – feels like it is source of income, rather administration fee.
– cleaning fee – unless you buy from green motion full insurance, you will be charged 15 Eur cleaning fee even if car is pretty clean but due to bad weather got some dirt on the outside. They do not include this in the price, to have better offering,but at the end you end up paying it.

the was an unexpected extra cost for a car washing (it was not included in the preliminary price with what I've never faced before anywhere in the world.

Total rental cost for 4 days was around 85 euro. In a month after rental I received traffic violation fine for 80 euro and administation charge 72 euro. 152 euro total. All of that was for the speed 70 km/h with 50 km/h allowed. We were not driving fast during rental days. The amount of fine does not correspond with the violation, especially "administation fee" that is alone is the same as the whole rental cost. At least the customers could be warned about severe fines at the roads and administation fees before the rent.

Great all around service

They said it was raining so we couldn't check the car.
Later I found there were some deep scratches that were not on the form.
Luckily I filmed it and reported, but I wonder if they would have blamed me if I hadn't.
This was August 2019, Riga Airport.
For a speeding ticket they charged 200% administration fee.

Dont waist your time with greenmotion! A month on and my credit card is still blocked! No help from them. Slow at the desk, had to wait 50 min to get my keys. On dropping the car off got charged 15 euro after I cleaned the car!

Desk at the airport. Parking within walking distance of the terminal. The staff at RIX were friendly and efficient. The paperwork was quick (I was a returning customer). The car was in good condition; I believe all the scratches were indicated on the form, including a missing wheel cover. In any case, there were no issues when returning the car.

I've rented cars from different companies and finally found the fastest service. Friendly stuff and no struggle to get the car. Guys in the parking lot explained all of the terms and conditions and answered all my questions in a kind and understandable way. Would love to return. The vehicle was clean and in a great condition.

I have been find for 40 euros, and this is ok. But you have charged me of 112,60 euros for that. This is too much. This is not reasonable. This is not honest.

Didn鈥檛 get the car we originally booked, would have had to wait longer for it to arrive from who knows where

Also when dropping it back, the guys at drop off point said there was some ash on dashboard and it smelt of cigarette smoke so charged us 拢150. Hours argued with them and filmed them on my phone, they told me to delete the video or they would call the police, I also refused to sign the form, they said they would also tell the police about this as it鈥檚 illegal to film and also illegal not to sign the form.

I think I did have a cigarette in the car by mistake but a charge of 拢150 is ridiculous. I will be booking with the bigger companies like Europe car or Avis in future, happy to pay a bit more for less hassle and aggravation. I should have listened to previous reviews on here instead of looking at the price difference. There is a reason they are cheaper than the rest!!
