Government Of The United Kingdom

The Tory Government is responsible for forcing a whole generation of women born in the 1950鈥檚 into poverty. Despite being fully aware of the extreme hardship suffered by these women due to the appallingly mishandled raising of their pension age, this government have refused to take any action to alleviate the distress or poverty currently being experienced by many of the 3.8 million women they affected knowingly. Justice Eadie speaking on behalf of the DWP advised the appeal judges including the Master of the rolls that the government was not obliged to inform these women of the rise in their pension age as their pension was a benefit. Could a pension company get away this? Six years has been added to these women鈥檚 pension age with no notice being offered other than some pathetic adverts in broadsheet papers such as the Financial Times and absurd adverts of two dogs talking in a women鈥檚 magazine in the 90鈥檚. I am not a dog! No attempt was made to inform these women properly, no letters at all at the time the pension age was raised, in fact Peter Lilley Minister in charge at the time actively prevented these women being informed as he feared they would be unhappy! Very few women received letters in 2012 following the second rise of their pension age in 2011. The majority of 1950s women like myself have never been formally advised of this lengthy extension to their pension age. In the original Judicial Review judgement decades of discrimination was dismissed as 鈥榮ocial norms鈥? There is massive discrimination in terms of pension payments due to the discrimination experienced by women in their lives through discrimination in wages and domestic care roles has impacted their savings potential. This impacts directly on women鈥檚 pensions as they had less to put in the pot. For women born in the 1950鈥檚 discrimination existed in every aspect of their lives and even now it is apparent that these same women are again being discriminated in the workplace as recent ONS statistics have shown they are being made redundant at a higher rate than other age groups and rising numbers of these women are now being forced out of the workplace and onto Universal Credit and ESA. It is time for these women to be given back their dignity and their pensions. This is not just an issue for 1950鈥檚 women this affects everyone鈥檚 right to their pension. The PM has failed on his promise to review this appalling policy and revisit the very wrong decision made by a Tory Government of what amounts to putting women in the position of being discriminated against yet again! Many women face the loss of paid for pension up to 50k can this be a fair and reasonable policy to just expect 1950s women to take this loss without the proper safeguards in place to inform and justify the mishandling of the policy and let it continue without reviewing it for the massive errors that took place before sanctioning it?

Unacceptable Govt & DWP over raising SPA considerably and continually especially for 1950's and 60's women and their maladministration, which continues today. 2 previous Pensions ministers agree govt got it wrong and ill advised on accuracy of stats, life expectancy and impact. So rectify !! More jobs needed now not just for young, release over 60's to be actual pensioners and create extra jobs and improve uk economy. Pensioners receive less than minimum wage anyway!!

Would have given a big ZERO if I could.
Would give my job to a younger person if I could. Unfortunately the government stole my pension.
1950s women deserve their pension NOW!
More than 50,000 women have died without their pension.
Liars, thieves and killing off thousands. This government has brought our country to it's knees. They should all be locked up.
Younger generation beware! Today 1950s women, tomorrow it will be YOU!

As a professional singer and entertainer I have been left with hardly any financial help from the Government as my livelihood has completely disappeared. I have worked hard for 30 years and paid my taxes and now i get nothing! I take that back…..in the latest announcements to help the self employed it seems i shall get 拢200 a month to live on. My council tax is more than that a month! Yesterday Rishi Sunak said that artistes and people in the entertainment industry should retrain and find other work. Not easy in the current climate and i have invested many years and lots of money in my line of work to have it just taken away from me. Angry isn't the word. So many of my friends in the industry are in the same position and some have even taken their own lives. What future do we have to look forward to with no entertainment industry! Not to mention the income that must make for the Government in taxes!

I paid into pension for 43 years, when almost time to collect pension they changed age from 60 and I discovered I would have to wait a further few years. Before I reached that age the raised the age again I now have to wait till I am 66. I also paid into a small private pension and was assured that it would not affect my state pension in any way I would still be entitled to full state pension. In 2016 these rules also changed anyone who paid into a contracted out pension scheme in previous years would get a reduced state pension. I was not employed or paying into a contracted out pension from 2016 onwards, I had paid full ni contributions for over forty years and only needed 38 years for full pension but my pension has been reduced and I need to find hundreds of pounds to top it up if I want a full state pension. Deceived by government throughout my working life.

Well what can I say……regarding communication, I learned about all the Pension Changes AFTER I retired 馃so No Stars there. I had just escaped an abusive relationship and was renting a small student flat but had no choice but to move back in with my ex.馃槺 Left with no income or help whatsoever for 6 years, I'd say that was very Cruel 馃ズ. Women were not allowed occupational pension, were overlooked for promotion, sacked for being pregnant, paid less than a man, suffered sexual harassment and bullying and had to work part-time or take career breaks because of caring responsibilities. 馃應 You've guessed it -we get a much lower Pension than men too! 馃挵I brought up 7 children (he who must be obeyed wanted 10, I lost 3) virtually alone, plus cared for Mum with Cancer; Great Aunt, Blind and Diabetic; Gran, Heart; Grandad, Angina and Ulcer and Mum-in-law with Dementia, consequently I have much less pension pot than my brother, who did no caring, just drinking. 馃毢I couldn't contribute to the mortgage and I and my children, 15, 17 and 19 lost our home. 馃彙 I moved far away and retrained-first in Autism which was very dangerous-once I got pulled down in fear of my life and often got bitten; kicked; pinched; screamed and spat at-no joke for a small woman of 60. I retrained again in Community Support, which was exhausting, from 06.30-22.30, 2-3000 mls per month, so not suprisingly I got Tendinitis and had several months off, as you can't lift; push or pull etc with a bad arm. 鈾?I struggled on sick pay but couldn't get PIP because of downright lies. 馃槷 I went back to work and then car packed up and couldn't work any more. I had a 9 week wait for UC then, after the LHA and Advance Repayments, I was left with 拢9.50 a week.馃槶I have had no heating for most of 3 years, little food-with no foodbank-and I have Anxiety and Depression, as have my children, who there was no impact assessment for.馃けThese SPA changes, without notice, have had a catastrophic effect on my life and I find it very hard to forgive those responsible, despite having been a Sunday School Teacher (besides many other roles.) We are their Mothers; Aunties; Sisters and Fellow Countrymen-how could they treat us like this, with such little regard? Where are THEIR Mothers; Aunties and Sisters, to Speak Up for us?! So many have Died or Committed Suicide. 鈽狅笍 There is an element of incompetence but I fear this was done, for the most part secretly, 馃悕deliberately to avoid protests and to run us out of time. For Shame! 馃槨 There isn't an option for no stars so here's a minus 6锔忊儯0锔忊儯 – no offence!
X馃挏X To all struggling 鈾€锔忊檧锔忊檧锔忊檧锔?br />

They shifted the goal posts for me without giving me adequate time to change my retirement plans……now 6 more years before my pension is paid and diddled me out of >拢40,000 as a consequence! Wish I could have scored them a BIG ZERO!

Stole the pensions from women who had always planned to retire at 60. Pensions lower than most of Europe.

I am a 50鈥檚 born woman. Iain Duncan Smith is on record saying ignore them and they will go away. Wish I could make successive Govt (any party) go way. Line their own pockets first and foremost, fabulous terms for their pensions and expenses. Rob us of our pensions and get away with it. They would not let a pension company take money for 40 years then adjust the goal posts 4 years before the term of the agreement. Thieves and vagabonds the lot of them. Would give a no star if I could. Young people of today beware. I am 64 and I have to work in a job that could be yours but I can鈥檛 afford to leave it for you to have as the Govt does not fulfill its promises. Beware what they will do to you in the future.

I had to fight with score as this government does not even deserve 1 star.
They do not care about the people that actually pay their wages, and have made so many cock ups it鈥檚 hard to keep up with it all.
They have done nothing for the pension age being raised, they had no intention of changing anything or trying to alleviate people鈥檚 in deficit and debt due to the amounts of money they have made from all the fifties woman at their detriment. Disgusting, vile government and I can honestly say in my opinion the worst we have ever had. Cartel of dimwits that our lives are in their hands

They lie. They steal. They cheat. They kill.

UK "government" is unfit for purpose. It serves only the rich and powerful at the expense of the vast majority of us living hand to mouth. It's not a government – it's a cartel.

UK government is an absolute joke and in no way is working in the best interests of its constituents.
Stealing pensions by making people work an extra 6years without notification is immoral. Has caused major issues for many resulting in suicides, selling of homes, deprivation, anxiety, stress and exacerbation of illness .

PENSION ROBBERY Successive governments between 1995 and 2011 robbed NI contributions to bale themselves out of economic mismanagement. Instead of contributing to uk pensions pot, like every worker in the uk, they were stealing these funds, knowing that there could never be sufficient funds to pay out. So fast track a pension hike for women, in the name of equality, and rob 3.8 million 1950s woman of 5 years state pension,Roughly 拢45k each. Untold misery has been inflicted on these women , losing homes, having work with debilating illnesses etc. Its ruthless and inhumane to treat a small cohort of elderly women , who worked and paid for a state pension, to grow old and impoverished. Shame on you UK government

Could write a book –
– 50s women鈥檚 state pensions
– Universal Credit – 14m people in poverty
– handling of Covid
– Brexit & trade deals
– lies about everything
– contempt for everyone
– lining their own pockets
– procurement contracts to their friends who cannot deliver eg ferry contract with no ferries, ppe contracts & no ppe delivered etc etc etc

#Born in the 50s.聽 The goverment has no idea what a challenge we women face just to survive.聽 You all have 2nd homes paid for by the tax payer.聽 You carpets, decorating, furnishing and buying of your 50" flat screen TV's are by the tax payer.聽 We pay towards your weekly food shop and whilst at work when you can be bothered to turn up we also pay for the meals and drink at your subsidised bar and restaurant聽 at the houses of parliment.聽 Many of you are shown to be asleep whilst sitting in the house of commons.聽 I cannot imagine any other employer allowing his staff to fall asleep when meant to be working.聽 You convieniently forget we the public are your employers we voted you into your jobs whether you sit on the right or the left of聽 the seats. Boris Johnson has told friends his minister鈥檚 salary of 拢141,405 a year is not enough to live on, according to reports. Perhaps if you kept it in your trousers prime minister you would not have to pay maintenance for all your offspring born out of wedlock!聽 What would us #1950s women do to recieve just a small percentage of your salary if only you held up the promise when we started work that we would be paid our pensions and retire at 60.聽聽
Government seems to be full of ex etonians who give jobs to their friends both within parliament聽 and contracts to those friends who didn't聽 follow into political聽 positions.聽 One rule for you rich and powerful men and another聽 for those of us who do all the work you wouldn't dirty your hands for and get paid a pittance聽 for.聽 You wouldn't聽 survive a week let alone year after year.
You are a misogynistic Government and are responsible for putting all women born in the 1950鈥檚 into poverty. You are fully aware of the suffering facing these women because the DWP was not made to inform all women of the changes and that we would have to work an extra 5/6/7 years before reaching pension age. You have refused to take any action to help the distress currently being experienced by many of the 3.8 million women affected. The pensions we paid into for the whole of our working live has now become a benefit. Many of us were given no notice apart from hidden in the broadsheet newspapers such as the Financial Times which most of us didn't read and absurd adverts of two dogs talking together about women's pensions hardly eye catching for something that was going to involve 3.8 million women.

The majority of women who were born in the 50's were never told that their pension age would be raised to 66 over a very short period of time.
Many people will be unaware that government are not duty bound to inform anyone of such changes.
So many injustices were served on that cohort of women and when you scroll forward thinking this does not concern you.
Check how successive governments colluded to deny haemophiliacs compensation for being aware there was a high risk of infection with hepatitis C and Aids from imported blood. Forty years on, they're still fighting.
Paedophiles guilty of trafficking young girls allowed to walk free.
Universal Credit rolled out creating untold poverty. Food banks, people sanctioned, resulting in no payments to claimants. People died as a result.
Elderly covid patients sent to care homes without medical attention, thousands dead.
Finally, do you trust a vaccination rushed through that would deny you any compensation if you later suffer side effects?
Ask who has your interest at heart?

I am so disappointed in the government, it has no understanding of life north of Watford Gap. Our mining areas have never recovered from the loss of jobs. People lost their self respect when they were no longer able to provide for their family. That bred a whole generation of people with a sense of entitlement who had never worked and couldn鈥檛 see the point when they were able to negotiate a benefit system with skill. So the people who really needed assistance were too proud to ask for help and struggled on. People were encouraged to save, when they got older the government saw a cash cow to milk, They鈥檇 saved, done without, to give their families a leg up and guess what, those who never worked got care and those who worked for a little security in their future had it ripped away in care fees. So we have pensioners, Most particularly 50s women but men too, fleeced of their pensions another useful cash stash, and what did the people get? They got bigger bills, money sent abroad to feed the homeless and starving whilst tripping over the homeless and starving on our streets. Wow now let鈥檚 have the useless HS2, A rail link from Hull to Manchester would be useful, London to Manchester frankly London? No one cares! black lives matter, of course they do and police lives matter to protect them. Some youth are feral, and schools are operating with both hands tied behind their back. Everyone has rights but don鈥檛 understand with rights come responsibility. The patience of the country is running out. The rich get richer, the smart get supported and the grafters graft frustrated by the system.
