I have used Gouda Rejseforsikring for a longer stay in the EU. They have been totally available, quick and reasonably priced. Their insurance supercedes other offers that I recieved and I wil definitely use them again.

2 months ago I crashed on my motorbike and broke my back. Being on a remote island, in the middle of these Corona times, in a country undergoing almost complete lockdown, where even travelling to the nearest hospital requires a lot of papers and permits haven鈥檛 made it either way easy or worry-free! But I have to admit that Gouda has given me first class treatment all the way through. From opening up an airport and sending a private air-ambulance, admitting me into the most clean hospitals I鈥檝e seen in the Philippines, to checking me in to a 5 star hotel until we sorted out our next move, and last but not least make sure to get me a business class ticket from Manila to Denmark. Given my circumstances, I feel like Gouda deserves an applause for their throughout quick actions, nice and accommodating staff, and I feel like I鈥檝e been taken care of best way possible. Thank you!

Recently I got a backpack stolen during my trip. Contacted Gouda regarding my travel insurance, and they have been extremely helpful with the claim. They evaluated the price of my things, which was really fair.

Another thing I like about this insurance is that they have English answering machine in their hotline (unlike most of the other companies here) while being a Danish insurance company! This is a big plus for an expat in Denmark!

Illegal and unethical conduct by Gouda!

Until recent, Gouda has offered me excellent care and service for all injuries and medical expenses for infractions suffered through hockey in the U.S. Lately, however, Gouda has refused to cover a new injury of mine because "I have already injured that part of my body." In other words, they claim that since I had already injured my back, a new injury to the back does not matter because the first injury was suffered before having been covered by Gouda. For example, don't break your arm twice because you only get to injure each body part once, according to Gouda.

This is vastly unfortunate as they have been a wonderful insurance company until I "made the mistake" of injuring the same part more than once…

I live in Australia and am covered by the Gouda Travel insurance. I broke a couple of fingers during a gym session. After having to take an ambulance to hospital I was advised that I had two options being a public or private care of my fingers that needed surgery. Gouda supported the private option which led to an earlier scheduled surgery time and a better and more intensive rehab program. The private options probably gave me a better outcome of my accident, so I am very grateful to Gouda for supporting this, more expensive, option. Also, the personal and caring communication with the staff has been impeccable. I highly recommend anyone to sign up with Gouda.

I broke my spine in Thailand and Gouda and me decided that I will get my treatment in Thailand. So I made my plans and a lessee contract here. Now, after 2 months, don't want to pay for my treatment anymore and want me go back to Denmark. WHAT THE F…!!!
If I don't go, the insurance don't want to pay anymore in my case and stop everything immediately..
Why didn't they get me back in the beginning???? Now I paid everything already for my stay here..
F… you, Gouda!!!

I signed a one year insurance that covers everything while working in the US. The price was 5450 DKK ($1000) which was better than IHI BUPA.
In the last month of my insurance coverage, I got an increasing and persistant painful inflammation in my right hand wrist so I got name and price info on a hand orthopedic from a colleague that had similar problems. I called Gauda emergency phone, one week before my insurance was terminating (I intended to prolong this for another 6 months). I was told that I can make an appointment ($250) to see this doctor and that Gauda would cover this visit but that I needed to call them in case there were extra expenses e.g. X-ray which is common here in US when you see a hand orthopedic.

However, when I called the Gauda sales people to extend my police they looked up my case and ended up writing that they would not extend my police and that they would also NOT cover my injury including the planed visit with the orthopedic. So never be honest with an insurance company!

At the end of our stay in Thailand my daughter felt a lot of pain in one of her ears. We talked to a doctor from Gauda. It was so nice to talk to a danish doctor and she made it very easy to take the final discision. She recommended that we stayed where we were, for at least two more days. We were only covered two persons in case of sickness…. but Gauda said, that they wouldn't separate us in Thailand and we could stay all 4 of us together. We could also stay at the hotel we were already signed in to. It was a nice and a little luxurious hotel and Gauda could have told us to find another hotel, but they didn't. Before going home, I talked to the same doctor again, just to make sure that we were ready to go and that the painkillers were okay. It was so nice to speak to her.

Gouda is (in my perspective) NOT a company, that sells itself on false PR. When you are stock out there, they really are there to help you. I have always had bad experiences with insurance companies…. but not this time. I am VERY satisfied and in Thailand (as a single mom) they made me feel very secure and safe.
