In college, we tried using Google Groups for a group project that consisted of multiple documents. Google Docs or Google Slides would have been appropriate, but to share these slides and docs we needed to use something everyone could access. We had issues trying to add people to the group, some people couldn't edit certain things, other's couldn't even see the groups content. Overall, it was kind of just, well, a mess. Google Groups needs some work to appease it's users. If I'm an engineer and couldn't figure it out, I'm sure not everyone in Google's customer base can.

It's Google Groups – some groups unsuitable, but on a case by case bass – the overall base URL is fine though!

From google… I see no problems. I think it ended up with a yellow rating (as of 3/22/2012) because someone tried to report a spamming user, and ended up reporting the whole site to SpamCop, instead of reporting the specific user/post/group to Google.

Google Groups site. Very useful site and I had good experiences.

Like many many sites like this such as Blogger, spammers may use it, but that doesn't make the site unsafe, because most groups are safe. Plus, groups.google.com is safe, this site is the same.

A good old Google service! Completely underrated.

It looks like this fell through the cracks because it automatically redirects to groups.google.com and therefore doesn't get many ratings. However, groups.google.com is fine, and there's no reason why this would be different.

Although there is a little spam, on the whole Google Groups is a good site.
