I purchased 2 gift cards on Saturday for 125$ each. I have the gift cards and I have the receipts. I can prove I bought them.
The first card worked and was activated on the correct account. The second card is saying that it has already been redeemed. The agents will not assist me. I was told that the funds are on another account and although they understand that I purchased it, they will not troubleshoot the issue any further as it is already on someone else's account. I am also being told that the funds are nonrefundable. How can you not refund funds that are in essence stolen?
I said that was unacceptable and that I needed to speak to a supervisor. I was advised that I would receive an email from a supervisor within 24 hours. When I replied that that was "unacceptable" the agent wrote, "you will just have to wait"- pretty insane over $125.00.
The supervisor has finally contacted me FIVE DAYS later. Not 24 hours in any world. And VIA EMAIL I am being told the exact same thing. It is redeemed on another account. They will not speak to me by phone. They are not concerned with how this happened or how we can fix it. It is basically "my problem" and they don't have to do anything about it because of some legal company protecting jargon in their terms of service.
This is a GOOGLE PLAY gift card and Google is refusing to assist and make my account whole. With NO HISTORY of ever making a request like this. I am being treated like a thief or a criminal and google refuses to stand by their product or their customer base.
I could go on about all of the issues I have faced with this. I assure you, I am an honest, hard working adult. The card never left my side when I purchased it. I do not have children, and no one but myself and my husband had access to the gift card. I have been a long time proponent of Google, but this kind of customer service is 100% unacceptable. It may be legal, but it is not ethical and there is no integrity in this. I don't believe the customer is ALWAYS right, but I do believe that when they are right they should be treated morally and ethically.
If my account is not made whole, I will be unsubscribing from all of my Google services. As will my husband. Sounds like my next phone will be Apple. Sad. Because a company treats their customers and their customer's money like it is trivial. I am actually a fan of my android- but I will no longer use a device tied to google play if this isn't fixed. $125.00 is not an amount to scoff at- and more than anything I think it has become the principle of the matter coupled with poor treatment and inaccessible customer service reps, tech support reps, and supervisors – that is driving me to such a radically switch in my thoughts on Google. I have always highly esteemed their products. But after this, I feel it's an issue with the morality of the company. I cannot support a company that treats their consumers so poorly.
To anyone who reads this- please don't buy a Google play gift card. Just pay the extra 5$ for a visa gift card. It is not even remotely worth the head ache, heart ache, frustration, and inferior customer service and lack of support for their product. I am always skeptical of negative reviews since most of my experiences go smoothly or within an acceptable margin. This is the first time in my life that I have purchased something and not been allowed to have it. If you buy a shirt, you get to wear it. If you buy a book, you get to read it. If you buy a meal, you get to eat it. Do not buy a google play gift card. You might not get anything. Except an insulting experience with customer service and the supervisor over that department. If you work as hard for your money as I do- make sure you spend it with a vendor you can trust.

I went to report and provided all pics google asks for and they did not do ANYTHING. A multi billion dollar corporation selling bad card for 500$ and then not doing anything to fix it or assume any responsability for the garbage they are peddling are nothing more then SCAMMERS with business licenses.
Shame on you. Last time I ever buy anything with the words Google on it.

If you buy a movie on google it should at least play in 1080p.

I did not state that I had done any of the above as in their conditions, so replied to them to which I have not received a response.
That was extremely poor customer service, not to mention it just comes across rude and not helpful at all.
I would not recommend Google Play to anyone and will not be purchasing from them in the future beyond my android device contract. Apply was way better with their customer support and services by always offering assistance.
I was about to throw away the card, but thankfully to my son, he looked very carefully and fixed it for me.
All Google play had to do was blocked that card and issue a credit. Terrible Terrible service.
