Initially the woman that was dealing with my rental was very friendly but when I declined the full insurance PACKAGE, which was EXTORTIONATE, she tried pressure selling it me and when I still declined she became very rude.
It took 1 week after I had returned the car for them to release the excess deposit.
GOLDCAR. YOU NEED TO TRAIN YOUR STAFF TO RESPECT THE WISHES OF THE CUSTOMER AND REMAIN POLITE. PRESSURE SELLING TAKES ADVANTAGE OF VULNERABLE PEOPLE WHO ARE AFRAID TO SAY NO.

Got to pick up my car, and was told the following facts:
1. There is NO insurance with my booking – there was the basic insurance as there usually is with a large excess.
2. The excess insurance I paid 拢16 in the UK was totally useless. What do I expect for 拢16!!!!
3. The deal I booked was for returning the car empty of fuel, and it would be provided full. How much the cost of a tank of fuel at Gold cars? 拢135!!!!!!! What a total rip off.
So the total cost of my car for a week was just under 拢200.
My good friend booked a car through Booking.com and paid 拢79. Drive away full and bring it back full. His car cost just under 拢100 for the week in total.
THE MORAL OF THE STORY
If it looks too good to be true it is.
And
Gold cars are full of lies and robbers.

They asked for a fully refundable deposit upon picking up the car but actually, they are selling you additional insurance and charging you for things that are not discussed. This refundable deposit is then never given back.
I would recommend if you have suffered the same experience contacting your bank and charging back the transactions.
The management at Goldcar should be ashamed if this is the financial model that they operate under. I would also expect that their staff are incentivised to sell these additional services. But that the individual branches are not doing enough to monitor staff to ensure that they are not misselling to their customers.
"Misselling is the deliberate, reckless, or negligent sale of products or services in circumstances where the contract is either misrepresented, or the product or service is unsuitable for the customer's needs."
Just be upfront about your costs. By the looks of the reviews as a whole, the company name is now almost beyond repair. They simply don't care about offering you a decent service – book elsewhere!
CHARGEBACK these additional transactions and Goldcar will go out of buisness!

The car was booked via rentalcars.com, the car provider was Goldcar.
Goldcar contract is not transparent for the customer – and they misuse this fact to cheat their customers and take some extra money from them AFTER the car had been returned (they have your credit card details).
1. Goldcar Palma de Mallorca charged me extra money for a diesel car that I never wanted nor ever booked. There was no mention of it when I booked the car online a couple of days before. My voucher said "no hidden costs" !!! And I certainly did not click the option "diesel car wanted".
2. They also charged "airport fee", although I booked the car pick-up at the airport and this option should already be included.
3. The contract which I got at the desk on the Palma airport is ONLY IN SPANISH. If you don't understand – you have a problem. The desk officer at the Goldcar desk in Palma airport was a german guy. I thought it was good because he would explain me all the extra costs which suddenly appeared on the contract. However, I was wrong – he omitted to explain all the extra charges, just said it was in case that I return the car with no fuel. So I trusted him.
Since I returned the car with full fuel and with no car damages, I was hoping to get these extra costs back. But I did not get it back. It took weeks to clerify it…
4. The contact to Goldcar customer service was in vain, no reply for months, no money back.
5. However, I have managed to get the money back via rentalcars.com – they took my problem seriously and took care of it. I am thankfull for that. BUT – it is a shame that I have to run around and spend so much time and nervs in order to get MY OWN MONEY back, which was illegally charged. That is no way to make honest and fair business.
Conclusion: it is really a pity (and against the law!) when such a big company like Goldcar have to cheat their customers in order to earn some extra money. They are not honest and not transparent.
I will never book Goldcar again, and will never recommend it.

At the Office your staff told me that the full insurance Economy car i rented at rentalcars for 140鈧?+ 37,38 for petrol spild vist me extra 160,88鈧?And that goldcars did NOT cooperate with rentalcars ?. Why is your contract number the same AS the one I Got from rentalcars – 15909268.
Is there a mafia behold this setup?

When I returned the car, they told me that there was a mark on the car trims.. it was roughly 1.5 cms.. I told them it was not acceptable from what they told me in the morning, their answer was that it鈥檚 not the car but the tyres … unbelievable.. dishonest company.. this is how they make money.. they charged me 120 鈧?.this company shouldn鈥檛 run for business

When I came to their desk at the airport to collect the car, I spent two hours waiting to be served and then they aggressively tried to push me into buying extra insurance for the car to cover it in full for which they wanted me to pay around 拢200 extra.
They also wanted me to sign the contract without walking with me around the car first and confirming all the cosmetic damages, etc. I refused and for that reason I needed to go all the way to their car park to inspect the car, which I could only do from the outside as they have not accompany me to show the car's outside and inside condition (including the floor mats' condition) and the fuel level.
I marked all my findings in the paperwork and made some notes as well but they refused to accept it because of the notes, so I needed to redo it. All in all I spent around 4 hours with them before I could finally leave the airport. Outstanding service I must say.
After the rental they charged me for fuel and for valeting/cleaning. When I requested explanation they provided fake images showing dirty floor mats. When I checked the details of those images it showed that they were created the same day I requested them with no further traceable information every digital photo image holds. I have also provided them with the legal standing image proving the car was returned with the full tank.
Still no response and no refund.
Trying to dispute the transaction with my bank now..
Avoid Gold Car like a Plague!!!

On return the chap didn鈥檛 look at the car, but went straight to the windscreen to a tiny, tiny chip which I didn鈥檛 do, but was obviously previously there as he went straight for it. I even rubbed it thinking it was dirt! 鈧?00 straight away. Then charged extras for having a diesel car, fuel admin (it went back full). Total, dishonest company. I would NEVER use them again

Avoid this company!
I used the website and rented a 140euro car incl vat/tax.
When I arrived at PMI airport (mid night), I was told to buy super coverage insurance or a deposite. The sales guy told me that the insurance covers gas as well. But it was a lie!!! In the end I had to pay addtional 400+ euro.

We maked a rental on rentalcars and everything looked fine.
After returning from holiday we found out that we was charged for diesel prefered car, we never asked for and some insurances.
We allready had insurance from rentalcars.

The car was perfect with only 4500km in really good conditions.
On my reservation confirmation, done online directly to Goldcars website, there was a total of 56鈧?when I talk with the office to have the car, the informed me there was included a Full Fuel, it cost me extra 29鈧?not refundable and not clearly indicated on the contract, it must be indicated on the total and was not.
The car rentals need to have more strictly rules.

We opted for the insurance from the website we used to book, as supposed to from Goldcars. Upon arrival we found out that they do not recognize that insurance and they wanted to charge my credit card EUR 1100 as a deposit. When I refused, they started saying that they would charge EUR 2200 if we did not pay for their insurance.
You pay extra for a diesel car (god knows why), EUR 9 extra per day for an additional driver, they charge EUR 126 for a full tank (for a Lancia Ypsilon)
So, when you are sitting in the car, it is more than likely that you will have paid double the amount for the car. Avoid theses crooks if at all possible

Paid extra Daily charge for for the Extra service needed on a Diesel car (Never heard that one before).
When I contacted them was told that it is all in small text on the contract, but small text is very unclear.
So beware….
