I wanted to share my experience on the purchase of GoPickMe Application from code-canyon and how I got cheated.
I would really appreciate if share your experience with the GoPickMe application:
I was very excited to see an On-Demand Application with a lot of features.
I have contacted the author to check with the features, report some bugs and asking for some feature additions.
The author was very responsive, very friendly speaking honey and promised everything which I have requested for until the payment has made.
Once the payment is made the author was a totally different person. He doesn't keep any of these promises.
His demand was, To buy the application, pay for bug fixing and modifications in advance via PayPal.
Since the author was very responsive and friendly, I have made the payment.
I failed to set up the application, as the code was not in working form. Need a lot of code adaptions to the latest API standards to make it work. The language used in the development of the application (Indonesian instead of English for Class, variables, and Database Table names, etc…), makes it almost impossible to fix it yourself. And the author takes advantage of this, as he knows the client is really dependent on him.
I have waited for 2 months for customization, the delivery has not happened. And the author stops responding to messages.
Since 2019 February to the date, I am waiting for the customized delivery of the application.
On the excitement. The excitement blinds my eyes on checking the features based on user stories. But later I have found several issues, some of the important issues are:
Problems:
1. Impossible to work on the code because of Indonesian language use in programming
2. No support or Clarification is given from the developer
3. No promises are kept on bug fixing and customization.
4. Amount of Bugs and Blockers to use the app as a service
5. Android Apps cannot be built or compiled as it is using a very old version of Gradle
6. For Google Places deprecated version is used, therefore the service does not work. as the google stopped support to that older version. An adaptation is required.
Some of the bugs from the system are:
> Security issue: If the URL is known, Without user credential anyone can access the Admin panel.
> Taxi/Ride: After a Ride is completed User and Rider is shown two different fares for the ride.
> Food/Grocery: User can order but the shop owner has no possibility to see the ordered items.
> Verification documents uploaded by the clients and customer cannot be viewed.
> When ordering Food or Grocery driver is searched near customer instead of near shop.
> A list of more than 80bugs has been created and no support or fix of issues which make the application no good for use.
