I just placed an order recently. They charged me $18 for the international shipping fee, and after a few days later, I was told that all the products are in the hub and request me for an ADDITIONAL $21.6 shipping fee. I contacted their customer service for canceling of my order, and I was requested to pay domestic shipping fee if I want to cancel the order. This is ridiculous, I only ordered $81 worth of products, and they deceived me for lower shipping fee, then asked for more shipping fee (I would not have placed the order if I knew the shipping fee is so high). The shipping fee is about half of the product value total. I didn't even receive anything, why would I have to pay them anything to cancel my order? Be careful before you place an order there, unless you are ready to pay a surprising amount of additional shipping fee. It is too complicated to cancel my order, they haven't told me how much I have to pay to cancel the order, and because of the time difference, it will take to much time and effort, so I decided just to pay the additional shipping fee to complete the order, then cancel my account and will never shop there anymore.

Avoid this online mall at all cost. They will surprise you with "additional" shipping cost after you paid their estimated shipping fee. When you see the shipping cost turns out to be "Double" the item price, you would like to cancel the order, right? Well good luck with that. There's no such thing as cancel, if you don't pay it, they get to keep the money and the item. You think you can contact the customer service via webboard which they're recommending? They will reply you A MONTH later with absolutely NO SOLUTION. Perfect combo with nonsense shopping policy and the most horrible customer service ever. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME EVEN THINKING ABOUT USING THIS.

Been a regular support for Gmarket for a few of its korean made products and do not have problems till the beginning of covid 19 which has not hit korean yet during that time.
Ordered some korean made masks and it took nearly a month to arrive. Despite several emails to the seller, I did not received any replies or notifications from them thats where I called up my credit company to cancel the order.
Eventually it took 30 days to arrive instead of the 14 days and most of its reviews said it has arrived and the materials is not as good as it seems.
I began to check and wanted to transfer the fund back and found out that its actually not it claimed to be. The masks was certified with korean cert, said its 3 ply surgical masks, turned out to be only 2 ply and its made in china. Worst its not water proof!! So another those made in china pirated product that do not exist again.
I did not realized my account was restricted till I wanted to get a regular item from korea.
This really got me mad when I appeal to the Gmarket support team about my case. And despite the effort they still restricted my account and replied the item was delivered. Despite it took 30 days!! And it was not a products it claimed to be!
Nowadays what sort of Buyers Protection do we get?
Again the company was owned by Ebay? Very bad management again.

Don鈥檛 ever buy anything from this websites. I buy baby bed, and i even pay for additional shipping. They write it in the website that they can do shipping to australia. But after i pay for everything, they suddenly cancel it and say they can鈥檛 delivered the package because it鈥檚 too big. It鈥檚 been a few months. I didn鈥檛 even get my money back. So disappointed.

I ordered a few items online from Gmarket's English-language web site while I was in Seoul, South Korea.

The first item arrived … DAMAGED.

I had to waste my time getting a Korean speaker to negotiate the return of the damaged item to the seller, and then to request a refund.

Gmarket's English-language Help (accessed via your online Gmarket account messaging area) is all but completely non-functional when it comes to settling disputes/returns, etc. in English.

I was eventually refunded the price of the damaged goods several weeks later.

Another item arrived about a week or so after the first item. It was not as described by the seller online, and therefore was of no use to me.

It seems from the "damaged goods" debacle above, and now the "item not as described online" fiasco, Gmarket's online group of sellers includes a motley collection of less than reputable individuals/organizations.

I immediately began the dreaded process of trying to negotiate the return of the "not as described online" item to the seller and ask for a refund.

Again, Gmarket's Help when it comes to English-language assistance was atrocious.

This process took over 2 months to have Gmarket eventually acknowledge that the item had been returned to the seller – even though I used an express courier service ("next-day delivery") to return the item to the seller – with tracking number provided by the courier service. The tracking number confirmed that the item had indeed been delivered to the seller the following day.

Gmarket then suddenly wanted to issue me with only a partial refund.

I refused.

I insisted on a full refund. The "not as described online" item was unopened and still in its original packaging.

I stood my ground. I wanted a full refund.

One month later I received an e-mail from Gmarket indicating that I would be refunded the full amount at the end of the month.

I waited patiently until the end of the month.

What happened?

You guessed it … NO REFUND.

I tried to contact Gmarket yet again via my online Gmarket account area, but all messages I sent to them were ignored. I didn't receive a single response from Gmarket to my enquiries asking them about why my refund had not been issued.

I explained that neither PayPal nor my credit card company had any record of a refund having been issued.

Gmarket continued to ignore my requests for information regarding the refund.

Now we are about 4 months after the original purchase of the item.

I then decided to submit a chargeback claim with my credit card company for the second item that was returned, and for which Gmarket claimed that they would be issuing me with a full refund.

Two months after submitting my chargeback claim (and now over 6 months after the original Gmarket purchase), my credit card company issued me with the expected refund.

Why did I bother with this (unnecessary) drama?

Simple. I cannot abide customers (people) being subjected to disingenuous, discourteous and appalling service – whether it's by a single-person operator of a small business or a larger, well-known operator.

I don't care if the item is worth 50 cents or 50,000 dollars – all people should be treated with understanding, consideration, and absolute honesty.

Conclusion: DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM GMARKET. IN MY ESTIMATION THEY ARE NOTHING BUT A GROUP OF SHYSTERS.

What should you do if Gmarket refuse to help you?

Even if several months may have passed since your Gmarket transaction, contact PayPal and/or your credit card company (if utilized for the transaction) and initiate a chargeback claim.

I will never purchase another item from Gmarket. I'd rather not have the item if I can't find it elsewhere.

When you consider making an online purchase, my advice would be to avoid Gmarket altogether and purchase the item elsewhere, they don't deserve your hard-earned money … or ask yourself if you really need the item … or, better still, give the money you would have spent on the item to someone who is deserving of some human kindness.

They cancel orders to prevent fraud, they say, albeit I paid with PayPal as I use for anything else and the money correctly went through.

Then to get your account unblocked, you need to send your name, ID, and number.

How's that even going to help to prevent fraud?

Huge waste of time, and I don't like time wasters!

Do not buy anything from this website!!!!
I bought several items from Gmarket on March 22nd and due to CoVID they weren't sending their items out starting late March.
I've requested for a refund since my items do not have a long shelf life and it took them over 2 weeks to respond to my email.
According to them, they only refund the price of items purchased excluding the shipping charge since we need to pay for the return shipping which is absurd!!!! Shipping within Korea was free when I checked the website before I made a purchase. Shipping charge only pertains to ems abroad. So when I demanded for a full refund the Yoonhee Lee from the customer service stated a full amount will be refunded within 7-10 business days and that was the email I got from her on May 6th and as of now no refund!! I have emailed and tried to contact customer service but NO RESPONSE!!
Do not ever buy from this website!! A scam and fraud!! They are robbers and thieves snatching customer's money!!
I did not want to give even a star if I had to.

I鈥檝e been waiting for a refund for nearly 6 weeks now from Gmarket.
you know what? It鈥檚 really prompt and efficient when you purchase from them But when it comes to refunds, they are extremely slow and you are not gonna be able to reach them. I鈥檝e been feeling so insecure and stressed out for this issue and It feels awful chasing them when there is acually no one answering you. I need to get about $ 200 back!!!! they are scam absolutely fraud!!! I鈥檒l never ever order anything from them and gonna tell everyone who I know about this issue!!!!

Scam. Shame on Korea for allowing this website to cheat foreigners. I returned some pants but never got a refund– a loss of about 40,000 won. Then I found the address and went directly to the seller in Seoul… it was just an abandoned building. And to think Korea calls itself a developed country.

Not sure about how other people comment negative about Gmarket but my experience after shopping 5 times there was fantastic. The only con is the shipping rate (EMS aka fast shipping) was pretty expensive but I usually get my item within 5 days (I live in California). After the payment, they usually process my stuff pretty fast and ship it out as soon as possible. They will update each process to let you know (when the item arrived at the warehouse and when the item is ship out…etc) via email. I shop at other asian clothing websites and so far Gmarket is the only one that offers fast shipping and their clothing quality is way better than other sites. Happy Customer!!!

Now I used GMarket when it first appeared. Ordered like 3 things when it first started, like 2007 and it was good service. I have not used GMarket until now, 2020, 13 years! And I know why now… Ordered some batteries, fold-able shovel and sleeping bag. The sleeping bag came the next day, great service! But the batteries did not come as promised, 1 day, ordered the same day as the sleeping bag. One I had to wait 3 days and the other 4 days. Now don't get me wrong, I am a very patient person. I will wait 2 months or longer for an ebay item from China or anywhere else, but the fact that they put on their site, 1 day delivery time is very dishonest. Plus I think 2 of the 20 rechargeable batteries are faulty. At least when Amazon says that they deliver in 1 day, they mean it! And now the shovel…I ordered the shovel, they said they were out of stock and I was refunded with Smile Cash. So I ordered the same shovel on the same day from another vendor. This was 3 days ago and I still have not gotten receipt for the shovel or the whether the shovel has been dispatched or not… Now I have written to them 5 times about my problem. 4 items and 5 times I have written messages…NOT GOOD! At least on ebay maybe a 100 and I have to write to them about a problem. 100:1 as compared to 4:5…NOT GOOD AT ALL! If I could give no stars, I would! AND I LIVE IN KOREA! When you talking about average to bad making up 89% on this site…THAT IS DEFINITELY NOT GOOD!

Gmarket has not been responding to my enquiry after making few attempts to contact their customer service. After purchased few items from the website, first they got back to me to pay on the extra shipping fees . When I try to pay, their website does not allow me to get into the payment section and message came out " your purchased has been restricted." It really caught me by surprised why they are not able to confirm their shipping fees like other major online websites.

Now after three weeks, they are yet to come back with any feedback and response. Can't believed that Gmarket are not professional when come to dealing with their international customer after reading all these online reviews. I hope whoever in-charged of Gmarket know what they are doing. If they are flooded with continuous negative reviews, customer should take this seriously. Really felt been scammed.

We have ordered from gmarket for the first time. It has been nearly a month and the status of the items has not been refreshed and stopps at packaging. We tried to contact customer service and left comments without luck. Pls avoid at all coats. Poor service and total scam! I usually don't write reviews but this one looked so professional and so want to warn others. Total waste of money and time.

G Market is absolutely a fraud trade!!! Not only their very poor customer services, they cheat money without responsibilty. I have ordered items at G Market in late Jan 2020, the delivery has been postponed and postponed again. It is still quite understandable in the period of flooding on demand. However, when I checked the tracking on their tracking system. Ist batch of my ordered item has been arrived on 14th Feb 2020. Said I was well received and even asked me for comments. However, I have not received anything from them. So I was trying to check their contracted courier EMS, but in vain. After sending a thousand of email and leaving inquiries at their platform, G Market eventually replied me an email right now (17th Feb 2020 pm). The email said my ordered item has been returned to their seller and no refund is available. It is absolutely unacceptable. If the product cannot be shipped, or whatever reason, G Market should NOT charged me. But they have charged me full payment of product price and shipping cost. and now I am told the product cannot be shipped to my location and refund???? What a bad commercial is! A really fraud!!!

I was trying to check my order status as the delivery is delayed (without any prior notice). Tried to connect on Live Chat during their office hours but I have yet to be connected to any staff throughout the entire day (from noon to 6pm). Then I sent 2 inquiries through their system – 6 days have passed and i have yet to receive any responses.

I used to live in South Korea, and I had used Gmarket in South Korea several times. I have to say, if you can understand Korean AND live in South Korea, Gmarket is a very good website. They do look after domestic customer very well.
BUT, now as an international buyer, I have to say I was definitely fooled by my past experience. The buyer's right and protection is way worse worse worse worse than the domestic buyers. I made 2 orders in Gmarket (total 7 items). I can't believe BOTH order went wrong. The first order, one of the clothes got returned to the seller without my consent. I just got an email said the item has returned successfully. They said I will get the refund which is a big lie. They returned my item but they NEVER refunded my money + pre-paid super expensive EMS shipping fee. The second order is even worse. One of the item was a incorrect item, and unfortunately the poor wrong item was delivered to NZ already. Can't believe they didn't even check the item (especially international order) before packing them. Now they offer me two options, I can either send the item back (has to use EMS service) and then I can get my refund or they can refund me 10% of the wrong item price and I get to keep the wrong item?! Fxxx them, if I want the wrong item, I would have bought it from the first place. Screw them, I would NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER buy anything from them.
To whom who is thinking to buy things from Gmarket, please think carefully, I've read so many negative comment about Gmarket before, and I've already though those buyers were just unlucky, I was wrong, nothing to do with their lucky, it is just simply there are so many serious problems with this website:
1. The pre-paid shipping (EMS) is only an estimatition. The final weight is not just the item, the final weight you need to pay is the items + all packing boxes, in my case, I bought three clothes and they all packed in three separate cardboard boxes and then get packed in a big boxes. So you end up paying most for the boxes…
2. They have very clear policy how to take money from you but no clear policy to protect buyers when things go wrong. You can only pray that you are lucky enough to have right items sent to you. When things go wrong, they are very passive to help you to solve the problem, and the solutions are also very unfair to the buyers. They know clearly you can't do anything to them because you are overseas
3. Terrible quality control before sending out. All the items were sent to Gmarket warehouse and then get sent out together. In my case, even the label outside the box is different from my order, they still pack everything together and sent everything out. Unbelievable mistake, considering I paid almost 50USD for the shipping
4. The quality (especially clothes) is bad, don't be fooled by the nicely photoshopped photos.
Summary: shopping in Gmarket = throw money into the water
So….unless you HAVE to buy from Gmarket, I highly recommend, save your money, Gmarket is not qualified to be the international shopping website (in terms of buyer protection, aliexpress is way way way much much much better).

I ordered at GMarket for the first time. I am from the PH. During the 11.11 Mega Sale I have bought set of Korean products with discounts using my free vouchers. The payment was successful and my credit card was charged. The next day I received an email confirmation that my order was cancelled without my consent. I contacted their customer service but there is no response. As of now, I haven't received my refund thru credit card. THEY HAVE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BOGUS PROMOTIONS. Be also aware of the personal information that you are giving in their website.

3 products I recently ordered all stopped working within a week (2 air purifiers and 1 fan). G-Market makes you jump through a million hoops and wait forever to get your money back. They don't take any responsibility for their mistakes–they seem content with the customer having to fight for their refunds. One time they asked me to take it up with the seller, and didn't offer any other help. I wouldn't be using G Market English if I was fluent in Korean. This last time, after a month or so of back and forth emails, which bizarrely included them asking me to video the fan not working, they asked me to dis assemble a fan and put it back in its original box so the delivery guy could pick it up. I refused to spend more of my time on someone's else's mistake, but they kept on telling me the same thing, so I told them to go to hell and cancelled my account. Good companies own up to their mistakes are helpful in taking on some of the burden. Bad companies like G Market make you do all of the work yourself, and act like you have infinite time to navigate through their obtuse refund system. I'd gladly pay a bit more to have a customer service experience that wasn't a nightmare, and that is what I'll do from now on—without G Market!!

Great products accompanied by great service. Only hiccups experienced was when attempting to pay the additional shipping. Unable to open their page to facilitate payments. However, after several attempts over three days, managed to pay the additional shipping payment and received my order satisfactorily. Gmarket has to improve its channels of communications and avoid the hassle of additional shipping fees by quoting the appropriate fees during initial payments. Guess the discounted prices of their products will keep me conducting business with them. ?????.

I would give them less if I can. I ordered some stuff and paid for it however didn鈥檛 receive anything. I contacted them but they didn鈥檛 do anything and started ghosting me. Then all of a sudden all my orders disappeared from my account. This is basically a robbery.

Gmarket never failed. even when i ordered a jacket with uneven arms. i could exchange it. with smile point and coupons. they keep me coming back. delivery is just super perfect. and for foreigners who cant trade on other south korean sites due to inability to read korean. this is a one stop place. shops also reply to customer complaints. had no trouble with them yet. many items are also delivered for free. still the best site in Korea for students and foreigners
