August 2020 – After a derecho (straight line wind storm) knocked out power to a significant number of people in my state, I decided to bite the bullet and buy a new generator. Purchased this electric start generator from Powermate/Generac (note that Generac purchased and now owns the Powermate brand) and it would not start STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!!! Hours on hold and speaking with customer reps who read out of a manual to suggest fixes and still no power, no generator and the only recourse under their 3-year warranty is to take the generator (now with a full tank of gas) to a authorized service dealer. They gave me two options, the first (and closest) no longer in existence and the second almost 40 miles away. Had to give up a day vacation from work and no resolution in sight. I can't stress enough DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND or any Generac products. Lemons lurk amongst their brand…
October 2020 – Believe it or not, still waiting on resolution of this issue. The brand new generator has been sitting at the ASD for 2 months now because they can't get an authorized warranty repair manual for this model. The ASD's distributor says they are having trouble getting a manual from Generac because the model is "too new". Waiting on hold right now with the corporate office to find out when I can expect either a full refund or new generator… AVOID ANY PRODUCTS FROM GENERAC

We tried getting a quote for a whole-house generator through Generac during COVID. We had to do everything over the phone with the sales person. Even had to sign the contract sight unseen.
When he came to our house it was apparent there was no good spot to place the equipment. He tried to talk us into putting it on opposite side of house and running wire to other end, which would have driven the cost up considerably. We told him it just wasn't going to work for us. Apparently we could not get out of the contract and the generator had already been ordered. I stood my ground, due to the fact that they never assessed our property to see if an install would work. We never should have had to sign a contract blindly, before they had seen the property and possible locations for the generator. We ended up having to pay $260 for shipping the generator back. Not happy but was the only option.
That was a poor policy put in place and unreasonable to expect a homeowner to blindly sign a contract. It left a bad taste in my mouth for Generac and I would not recommend them at all!!

WAVERLY ELECTRIC, I GOT PRICING FROM THREE SOURCES AND CHOSE THE MIDDLE PRICE FROM A HANDS ON DEALER/INSTALLER. JUST PLAIN DID WHAT HE SAID HE WOULD DO. FROM DIGGING TRENCH BY HAND TO REDUCE DAMAGE TO LAWN AND SHRUBS. SIX INCH CONCRETE SLAB FOR THE GENERATOR TO BE MOUNTED. ALL INCLUDED IN THE QUOTED PRICE. DID IT ALL AND HAD THE SWITCH GEAR MOUNTED AND WIRED TO THE POINT GEORGIA POWER COULD MAKE ONE TRIP TO DISCONNECT AND RE- CONNECT. I SHOULD POINT OUT GEORGIA POWER DROPPED THE BALL AND LEFT ONLY TO RETURN FOUR HOURS LATER. THAT WAS NO PROBLEM AS OUR INSTALLER, WAVERLY ELECTRIC WAS ABLE TO GO AHEAD AND RUN OUR NEW 16 KW GENERAC . THANKS WAVERLY ELECTRIC, MOOSE !!

I bought the EcoGen 15kW (12-2018) because it is the only off-grid generator they would guaranty for 3 years. I had it installed by a Generac authorized dealer for a total cost of just over $7100. It lasted 500 hours (5 months) before failing and took 6 months to get it fixed. It lasted just less than 500 hrs. before failing again for the same problem. It took Generac several months to decide that they were voiding my 3 year warranty even though I had more than a year left and 1000 hours of operation left on the original warranty. Don't buy from them as they don't honor their warranty.

I bought an RV generator from Generac and had constant problems with it backfiring. I took it to an authorized Generac dealer and they didn't fix it and said it was a common problem. They charged me $195 to get it back. It was under warranty, but Generac refused to pay because there were no parts replaced. Several months later, it back fired and caught fire. It burned my shop to the ground. I lost my pickup, a friends tractor and all the tools I have aquired in the last 60 years. Of course Generac refused to do any thing about it. So we sued them. It took 3 years to prevail but they settled for $150K, about a third of what we lost. Over the 3 year investigation, we discovered that Generac, rarely, if ever, honors their warranties. They lied and covered up information and buried us in discovery that had nothing to do with our interrogatory requests. They certainly don't care about their customers.

After a bad storm on April 15, 2017 at nite, our 2 sump pumps and 2 backup sumps were fried by lightning. Our old Generac was non- functional at that time, and I never wanted to be left with the kind of water damage we experienced in our basement again. Consequently I had new sumps with backups installed, each with WiFi. My next step was to have a 22Kw Generac Generator installed. Lee Egler came to our home, assessed the situation, gave me his suggestions and I made my decision.
The Generator was installed in a timely and professional manner. A Generac Surge protector was installed between the Main Electrical Line and the Lines going to our main breaker box. Several breaker boxes and
circuits were modified. Several GFI's were installed near the Sumps to bring this up to code. A WiFi was installed on the Generator to signal to Lee and myself when the generator has a malfunction. The crew and Lee were a great team! They did not leave until the Generator had been tested and set up for weekly runs. The mess was cleaned, and the premises were left neat and clean. Lee Egler and his team know what they are doing, are honest, hardworking, and meticulous. I would recommend them in a heartbeat!

I bought a Generac generator and Generac automatic transfer switch. The transfer switch was shipped directly from the Generac Factory. It arrived in about 4 days, but was damaged. Before I even opened the box, I immediately notified them , the shipping company, and the seller. Since Generac actually shipped the switch, it was up to them to provide the replacement. They refused to even discuss it with me so I had to rely on the seller to intervene. It took 7 weeks, and about 50 phone calls to finally get them to accelerate the process and get the replacement delivered. VERY POOR service after the sale!!!!!!!!
