There is no 鈥榗are鈥?in companion care. Money grabbers. They owe me money and are refusing to fill out my vet insurance forms. I鈥檝e had to escalate my complaint to the Royal College of Vets Surgeons. Bless my insurer they are trying to help me. STAY AWAY from Companion Care vets.

Please do not use companion care They are a profit making business and do not care for the animals I was told my dog had a problem. I was charged 拢279 for a blood test despite being told it would be 拢30.
Results came back negative.

DO NOT TRUST THEIR JUDGEMENT

THIS PLACE DOESN鈥橳 DESERVE A STAR – IT NEEDS INVESTIGATION INTO THE HORRIBLE VETS.

This vet practice is an absolute mess! First of all I鈥檝e had issues with them diagnosing my dogs illness and giving appropriate pain relief. I had to take my dog 3 times to the vet on the same day to help her get pain relief injections and they charged me each time for the consultation x2 拢38 on top of injection fees etc I was entitled to my first visit free as I pay a monthly fee for this. Obviously I was annoyed to pay this even though it was for the same condition. I asked politely if it was a mistake and they told me no. I even asked the receptionist on my 2nd visit if when I visit for a 3rd time (recheck) will I be charged? She told me no as it is a recheck. The head vet Obi seems to think this is standard practice and was so rude to me. Accusing me of lying about my dogs condition.

Today I had to take my dog there to get her dew claws clipped. Firstly she went in and they didn鈥檛 even check her dew claws even though they were told by my husband specially. We had to take her back!! Even the receptionist said I told you it was for dew claws. She went back in to have them done. To my surprise we got back in the car and my dogs foot was covered in blood. I was so upset and shocked that the vet had clipped my dogs nails incorrectly and hurt her. It made me sad as this is a procedure that the nurse normally does and when I confronted them and showed them her foot. They checked her over but I had no apology whatsoever, Obi was so rude to me and I was just in so much shock and upset once they told me my dog was ok I left. I can鈥檛 believe a head vet doesn鈥檛 know how to clip dew claws without hurting the animal. There was no care or attention and the attitude there is 鈥榠t鈥檚 always our fault鈥?they want money and they don鈥檛 care for the animals. Pictures are below of my poor baby鈥檚 foot. The claw was still bleeding at this point.

Don鈥檛 take your beloved pets here. It鈥檚 a horrible atmosphere and horrible vets. I can鈥檛 believe my poor doggie had to experience them. Just to finish this review I have been a customer there for 5 years and never experienced what I did today. I just can鈥檛 believe the ignorance of the vets. Never again!

On Arrival we were greeted by the lovely ladies at reception who booked us in and offered us a seat in the waiting area, our dog had an accident and the ladies were very understanding and more than happy to clear it up.
Rebecca the vet invited us into the consult room greeting both us and the dog, we explained that he may a bit nervous as a rescue and she was more than understanding. She took time to get to know him in a calm force free way which for him is brilliant, each little bit of the health check was a big deal to our dog but Rebeccas calm nature helped him understand that she was not a threat and gave him a break so he didn't get too stressed. He had to have is anal glands done and expecting this to be very traumatic he coped well whilst I held him and was not scared after (I think the little treats we had helped).
We waited in reception for the Flea and Worm treatment which had been explained in great detail the different variables, the reception ladies were polite and took interest.
Overall a brilliant vet experience both from our point of view and for our dog we would highly recommend Rebecca and the team to our friends and family.

DO NOT use these vets, when our cat was poorly we were advised Companion Care would deal with our Insurance company directly.
They did not, our insurance company contacted us to advise they needed further information as the vets had not given them it.. they needed a letter with our cats med history. I called the vets on the Friday and asked they send that over, the lady said she would and was quite abrupt. She did not mention they had already charged my card without asking 拢170.38 the day before. The 1st I knew about it was this morning when a letter and receipt arrived.

I have been using companion care for over 8 years with my dog and our puppy, I brought my older dog in as we suspected her of having a stroke, she was 9 and after her behaviour and looking up on all the relevant websites we voiced our concerns to the vet , she gave a quick check over and We were told they it might have been a ear infection and that we were to keep her on antibiotics and monitor her and to keep in touch if anything changes we were also told that she may need and X-ray and we were to receiveD a quote, the quote came through at 拢570.00 and also when we looked at the quotation that it was for extensive dental treatment in the description( this was nothing to do with what we had discussed with the vet on the day) . After a phone call to the surgery that said that the quote could be brought down and the manager would call us to discuss the quote.
Unfortunately after the second day our poor dogs circumstances changed dramatically and we were forced to call the vet to let them know that we weren鈥檛 able to bring our dog to the vet due to the nature of her illness and asked if we could have a home assessment as we couldn鈥檛 bring ourselves to put our dog through the stress of bringing her to them as the she couldn鈥檛 stand up and being a big dog would be a struggle as my Partner is pregnant. I was told by the receptionist that the vets were too busy to do a home assessment and I did ask for a call back as we were worried about our pet and wanted some advice as of how we might be able to resolve the situation.
After a couple of hours of waiting for a call back we called a local emergency vet which although cost a lot we were happy to pay, upon arrival the vet gave a thorough assessment of our dog and after 10 minutes gave a much more thorough assessment and explained to us the true nature of what was and had happened to our dog .

unfortunately the outcome was that our dog was to be put to sleep after much thought to what she had already been through.

6 hours after our dog was put to sleep we received a call from companion care asking about our dog and that she had a stroke, I was very annoyed that after we have used them for all our pets that the manager after the misleading quote failed to call about an X-ray which our new vet said would of been pointless for what had happened and even diagnose an ear infection also that the vet called 8 hours after our first call to them as they were too busy.
I have now changed vets due to this happening and would not use them again. I felt let down to say at the least.

I hope that no one has to go through what we had to go through .

They offer a good vaccination pet plan and are opened all weekend which is good but unfortunately when our cat fell ill I was served by a locum vet who just seemed to want to rinse us for everything and perform so many tests on our cat, put him in an overnight vet surgery in another town, thinking that we could just pay a fortune without giving us any pricing beforehand or any alternatives until we asked but even then it was as if she was trying to blind us with science to justify an extra test. We did have insurance but it wasn鈥檛 for an infinite amount.
At the time we thought that was what was needed so paid up and was able to look after the cat overnight, no problem to bring the price down (she had insisted we drive to another town, pay an unknown amount through this overnight vets for them to look after him that night and then pick him up early in the morning), until he had to go in again for more tests. Afterwards we saw a regular vet who was more reasonable in her approach but it just put us off to be honest and the damage was done.
They only have select insurers where they get the money direct from which makes you feel as though they鈥檙e pushing a particular insurer on you.
The receptionists were lovely but the vets are in an open area and it鈥檚 just not a great vets for cats.
So we decided to go to an independent vets as we felt we couldn鈥檛 100% trust them and I鈥檓 glad we did as it鈥檚 a completely different service.
Maybe we just had a bad experience with one locum but I would shop around and check the small print.

Will never take any animal of mine there again.
Adopted 2 rabbits from them being told that I would receive vaccinations and neutering for free.
Took them in for first jabs and was told they would need to come back for second ones in two weeks, on attending this appointment told I had to pay for appointment.
Complained and was told I would receive a refund.
Since being told that I have had absolutely nothing from them despite calling and emailing asking for an update.
Do not trust these people at all, they're only interested in getting your money. If this is how they treat people I doubt they'll show any care for animals at all.

These so called animal lovers are sadly just out for the money, After being asked to attend a free consultation about health screening i attended the practice and booked in with my dog who's very nervous of car travel, to be told i was being charged for the consultation i never asked for i just wanted a price which is no problem to other vets they give you a price over the phone. needless to say nobody likes underhand tactics to make money and nobody likes to be ripped off and lied too, however whilst waiting we was treated to a full on slanging match between the customer and vet which was entertaining.

I really thought that coming to your establishment would be different, in the two months that I have brought my dog there it has cost me approximately 600.00, and still I have no indication of what he has.

Yesterday he had another procedure I was told it would cost 135.00 pounds I then get there and they tell me the procedure is going to cost 220.00 which I then signed for and agree to when I picked up my dog it was 276.00 pounds. I am not rich, I do not have money that I can just throw around.

Not only that my dogs gums were inflamed and I ask their staff what can I give him and their reply is that I must wait until we can take his teeth out, don't worry about the fact that his mouth is bleeding and his gums are swollen. This is the worst advice I have ever heard, I had to take him to another vet that evening and they gave me some gel for his gums, why could they not do this,

They would rather have a person pay for an operation then treat a minor inflammation of the gums or tell you to come back so you can be charged for another consultation. It seems that is always the advice you get, the dog must have an operation.

I have nothing in writing what you have done from the previous Scanning procedures either, which was a month ago, they tell me he has cushings, he has now done the tests for cushings, then when I ask what will happen now, Once again get I get told he might need more tests. How much blood do you want from one dog?

I am not happy and my dog is completely stressed. But most of all you don鈥檛 give the correct quoted amount and just add on. You know I have had dogs all my life and the advice or the reassurance you give is not very promising.

I have now also read your reviews and I see I am not the only one that feels this way. You definitely are overcharging and adding on where you want.

Our dog was with Companion Care Chatham, Kent.

She has had a few health issues over the years and for the first few years they were ok (reception staff generally have an attitude like they are doing you the biggest favour just to deal with you, and ridiculous waiting times) but that aside, the treatment we thought was 'ok' and the nurses were good at making our dog feel as comfortable as possible.

However, as our dogs chronic illness got worse, the vet suggested to do a scanning procedure that we later realised wasn't actually necessary so put ourselves and our dog through about 4 days of unnecessary stress for no reason and added to the general stress that our dog faces every time we take them to the vets. Not that it mattered as we have insurance, but the procedure was around 拢2,000 so I would be extremely angry if I had paid for that out of my own pocket to later find out it was unnecessary.

And then more recently, another vet at the same practice removed our dog from medication that she had been on for a number of years, without warning, causing 4 days of vomiting and extreme diarrhoea simply because he wasn't happy that we were getting a second opinion (after that same vet had only given us one route of action the illness which would of meant several weeks of our dog being ill and then possibly no recovery afterwards). The vet refused to give medication and we had to go to another vet who was completely confused at their behaviour. I appreciate it might not seem a huge thing but to go for 4 days up most of the night with a sick dog and still have to function during the day and work etc isn鈥檛 that easy.

I would say this vets is ok for small issues (anal glands, nail clipping etc) but for any long term illnesses, I really wouldn't bother wasting your time. You will be better off finding a small practice where they actually care and you aren鈥檛 treated like some kind of inconvenience and any big issues find your own specialist who knows what they are talking about.

I now also have the issue of being owed money from the company and at the moment I am getting no luck in getting my money back so now taking out a small claim against them.

Amazing team of vets, so kind and companionate. They have looked after all our animals and will continue to do so as they are just amazing.
The receptionists are lovely too – warm and welcoming and very understanding of us neurotic pet owners!!
A1 Vets – thank you so much for everything you have done and continue to do.

Companion care Sprowston branch are absolutely useless. The vet we saw put incorrect notes on our pets medical history and invalidated our insurance. The notes he wrote were not even discussed in the consultation room. They don't listen to anything you say and write whatever they want.
Changed veterinary practice and won't be going back!

would.give minus stars if I could. Your branch in Derby meteor centre is disgusting . Head vet nurse is rude and accused you of lying . The also only do direct vet claims if it suits them.or if it's an insurance company they are affiliated with . Then they say you were told this by the vet and then the vet confirms you weren't and the snotty head nurse is nowhere to be seen . avoid like the plague

Got Skittle spayed at the Milton Keynes branch and had a little complication soon after.
Called in and booked her for emergency care within the hour.
An amazing and passionate team took care of her with priority and she was operated in a few hours.
Thanks to Matt L and Sandra M vets and Anita nurse, but also the reception ladies, we experienced a caring and lovely service at hard times. Skittle is enjoying her life and even though it is said that cats have 9 lives, I am sure Skittle didn鈥檛 lose any! ?

Quoted 拢700 for dental work on a 17 year old cat… asked for other options and told there were none and offered finance to pay for it. Went for 2nd opinion who have said no dental work required and the anesthetic on a cat of her age would likely cause her many issues. A simple removal of scale deposits and she was sorted. We also expressed to CC that we felt something else was going on, were dismissed and told just pain from teeth without them checking her at all. Other opinions have found thyroid and IBS issues in their exams. My sister had a similar experience with her small dog and my friend the exact same experience with overcharging and recommending dental work that was not necessary. I would very strongly urge anyone to get 2nd opinions when treatment is recommended. A consult, blood test and 3 days of meds were almost 拢150 at CC, the same was 拢47 elsewhere. They are definitely overcharging and it concerns me they would have put my pet at risk doing a procedure that was not required at all.

AVOID

Croydon practice are dreadful

Appalling rude receptionist (Lauren)

Inefficient, incapable, no sense, long queues while chatting on phone

Complained and asked for a written response – still waiting….

Cheap prices reflect the cheap service

Charge hidden extras at every opportunity- ie have an operation- then have to pay for after op pain relief
Not even given an elizabethan collar to prevent infections

I could go on and on

Save your time and your pet!

AVOID

This vets company is no help, especially with there very rude receptionist as she said my kitten would have to suffer untill I get paid! So as a vets they can't offer emergency appointments. This is in the Aylesbury branch.
I wouldn't even waste your time with this discusting vets because they won't help your animal anyway.

Took our dog in to Companion care vets at Brentford.
He has never been ill, and insured for his whole life, he had gone of his food, and normally a very healthy appetite.
Being a worrier I wanted to make sure he was okay,, so took him to the only vet he had seen for boosters and injections.
Dropped him of at 9.30 am for tests told to collect him at 4 pm.
At 3pm we received a phone call to say he had been found dead in a cage.
Some body a nurse Iam told noticed a bad smell and went to investigate
(Really nice to be told that)
We were in total shock and grief stricken.
The vet also refused to fill in the forms needed for his insurance.
We requested a post mortem, senior vet refused, demanded a post mortem, refused again.
The vet again said his death was a mystery, why no post mortem then???
Requested he held the dog overnight in the freezer, so his body would be preserved, so we could take him to Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
The following morning, refused, he had no room.
We had to carry home our dead dog with no information.
With out the help of the RSPCA cattery at Southall, we would of gone out of our minds.
They held his body, and gave us all the help and advise we needed to have him cremated, thank you so much to them.
If you write any thing they dislike on Companion care vets website as a complete they wipe it, they own the website.

New Malden. Our dog had a limp. First vet looked at it told us to come back the next morning for the dog to be sedated and sore on paw examined. Returned next morning, saw another vet who gave us antibiotics and painkillers but did nothing. Told us to come back 4 days later. Two visits with no solution to problem, just expense and delay. Another local vet solved the problem the morning after our visit to him (sedation and removing a grass seed), for 拢80, considerably less than I had already paid Companioncare for very little other than delay.
All of this would be just a bad experience if my complaint had been dealt with. Two phonecalls to the practice manager who said she would look into it. It is now a week later and I have heard nothing. Don't use them.
