Buyer Beware
When I Contracted Colonial Van Lines to move from NY to Tennessee, our agreement included the household items and a motorcycle. On the day of the move and after hours of discussions, They tell me they cant move the bike at the original price of $500 its now going to cost $900 and I would need to bring the bike to a place where it would picked up in a few days. This is now 2 hours before I have to be out of the house, and I am left scrambling to find an alternative way to move the bike. I was also asked by my customer service manager, why I did not consider alternative ways to move the bike originally to which I replied, you people said you could do it, and now you want to make it my problem.
Delivery was scheduled for three different dates, and three times they were a no show, without even a call. When they finally arrived, they expected payment which is what we had agreed to. However they did not have the proper weight certificates showing the weight of an empty truck, and then that of the truck after it was filled. I had been told that this is how the final moving bill would be calculated. When I refused to pay without the proper documentation, I was verbally abused, and threaten with taking my belongs to storage or just dumping them in the driveway. The workers where threaten with their jobs which left 2 upset and crying. Ultimately the truck was unloaded, however I am now held hostage by one worker who stayed at my house, while the others went to have the truck weighted. This lasted to 1 AM in the morning. I was supposed to have a customer service rep who would be with me through the whole process and to be the one to interface with the movers. I didnt. And while all that when on the night of the move, there was no one to call for help. The just abandoned me despite all that I was told about the wonderful service they would provide during my move. Yeap say anything to get you to sign the contract.
Additionally, the movers did not have all the packing materials they need to pack pre agreed items, which I had to go out and buy. They did not have the inventory stickers that needed to be place on each item, nor did they have the shrink wrap need to cover my furniture, all of which I had paid for in advance.
I filed a claim for the damaged items as instructed, and now they say it takes 4 months, I will not hear from anyone, and if I bought additional insurance which I did, they will not pay. None of this is in the contract they I signed.
Now a month later the company still has not made good on their promise to refund me the cost of the bike, the materials I bought, and the additional monies I am owed due the weight difference. I also paid for insurance on the bike. While it was only $91, they are refusing to reimburse me for that loss.
Nor will they acknowledge in any way that they Broke the Contract.
This company will say anything to get you to sign the contract, and then they dont deliver, and dont care. Even when they break their own agreement.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! Contracted for furniture delivered between December 28, 2015 and January 6, 2016. Moving from Arizona to Maine. Contracted with company to move one-bedroom apartment furniture without appliances from Mesa, AZ to Waterville, ME. Job number 55368881-CO. Binding moving estimate of weight of furniture was and amount of move. Estimated weight was 3,293 pounds. Total price $3598.42. Gave deposit of $1159.12. This left balance of $2439.30. On day of pick up Dec 18 gave driver two money orders totaling 1900.00. This left a supposed balance of $539.30. Jimmy assured that he was overestimating weight of furniture and should not go over amount in fact may get adjustment of less for delivery. Was told would have weight of vehicle plus final amount for delivery by December 23, 2015. Concerned about expanded time frame for delivery from December 28, 2015 to January 6, 2016.
Spoke with supervisor who said must have window for delivery and they would note my preferred date of December 28th and would make every attempt to deliver on that date. Advised supervisor would incur almost additional 500.00 in cost of motel from December 28-January 6. Advised to get day to day to limit cost. Fortunately, did not because would have been moving from motel to motel due to lack of delivery and information. After repeated phone calls to get weight of truck, amount due and delivery date, January 5, told still didn't have weight because "driver didn't turn in paperwork and delivery possible January 7 or 8". January 6 accidently told by Johnny that company they contracted with told him the week of December 23, that my estimated delivery was January 7 or 8, 2016. Past my contracted delivery date. After multiple attempted contacts to get delivery date was told that January 10 or 11th would be my delivery date as my furniture was still in warehouse in Arizona. Contacted on January 11 that my new delivery date would be January 18th. Was told by Dana that my delivery was postponed because the company went to pick up another delivery and that owner refused picked up therefor they postponed my delivery because they wanted to add another load to mine prior to delivery. That is not what I contracted them for. I contracted for my furniture to be delivered between December 28, 2015 and January 6,2016. On January 18 was left message on cellphone by Dana that my new estimated delivery was now between January 21 and 23, 2016. The exact date and time unknown because they are waiting to hear from the driver.
On January 7, sent information that weight was 4920 pounds. This 4920 supposedly gave us a new total of $5170.00. They deducted the deposit of 1159.12 which left a balance due of $4010.88. They "forgot" to deduct the $1900.00 given at pickup. So my new estimated total at delivery is 2271.88. However, 4010.88 minus 1900 on my calculator is 2110.88. On paper work emailed to me the 5170.00 due is achieved by weight of 5500 x.94 which is $5170.00. However, my weight on weight tickets is 4920. So 4920x .94 equals $4624.80. This is an additional $545.20 added to my bill. There are discrepancies in weights and prices and I still don't have my furniture and condition of them is unknown. The entire process has been misinformation, and information not provided. Had to sleep on air mattress and sit on outdoor camping chairs in empty apartment. Finally received furniture on January 23. After all this Colonial van lines will compensate me a whooping $100.00, because they already took $510.00 off because they had to because they didn't deliver it when stated. Oh by the way according to them they have thirty days to deliver it so the told estimated delivery means nothing. Next issue is all of my wooden furniture is damaged. Long scratches and chips on every item. These are Ashley high end furniture. So now I must fill out paperwork, take pictures, and get three estimates for every item and maybe they will do something about that. Which involves even more time and money I must spend because of their incompetence. When you speak with them on the phone they say how sorry they are but then give you a bunch of legal talk that basically its all your fault and they hold no responsibility. If I could have given them no stars I would have.
