What a fun place! My husband has brought our child here a few times and he always has a blast. I love all of the different interactive exhibits. Also….who can pass up such a good time when it is free and you can get validated parking for the first hour?? I have not tried any of the movies so I cannot speak to that, but did enjoy the rest of the place. My only complaint is that there is a ton of popcorn all over the floor in the theater section of the building and I'm a hater of all things popcorn. Other than that, I really do love this free experience in SLC.

The Clark Planetarium is so much fun for the whole family. We didn't even catch a show but still spent well over an hour there. It has so many educational interactive activities for the kids. From smelling what each planet might smell like to Jupiter's moon exhibit. It made learning so fun for young kids. The Planetarium even has a kids play area that was so cute with a little rocket. Everything we did was free and a great way to entertain our kids. We even took a break and got a huge tub of movie theater popcorn for just a couple bucks. I highly recommend taking your kids there and hope to return to catch a show too.

We visited this place for the first time and also was our first time in Salt Lake City. This place is amazing!!
Saw a IMAX movie along with laser show, both were incredible. The fact that there's a place where adults and children can come hang out in a fun, interesting and educational environment is awesome. Also a good place to be at when it's snowing outside. Wish they had something similar back home. The exhibits are all super cool and fun to learn.
Best part is all the exhibits are free. Overall great experience, would recommend coming here if you're in SLC.

One again, another place where all the exhibits are busted.
I went with my family to see the Expedition Reef movie, thinking that I was going to see a under the sea or oceanic movie, but was treated to the most boring, dumb, tree hugging the polar ice caps are melting save the coral movies there could ever be.
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME CORAL! CORAL?! I paid money to see this garbage? You should be paying me to watch it. It was like a bad public service announcement.
Everyone in the audience was like, "WTF" after the movie. Kids were like, "I wanted to see fish." Or "there was only one Turtle."

Really not as amazing as i thought it would be. At least it's free besides the shows but it's just not great. The show we saw was pretty cool but i don't think I'll ever be back.

FREE experience in The Gateway area of Salt Lake. if you are into space, then this is the spot for you. We spent about 1 1/2 hours browsing around, then we also went to an 3D Imax movie that was AWESOME.
There are activities that all ages would find exciting. Very interactive, lots of games, and set up very nicely. Didn't feel crowded at all.
I would 100% stop back by for another Imax and to browse around. We didn't make it into the gift shop area but it was BIG and had a ton of things. Great job!

If you like space stuff, this is your place! You can make a tornado, how cool is that? Laser shows are awesome but not good with people with light sensitivity. Clark is located in the corner of the outer side of Gateway. Losing a star for parking. Besides that this place is great for all ages! It's free to wander thru and the snack stand is pretty cheap. Everything is interactive from viewing rocks from the moon thru a magnifying glass to smelling different planets. You can even give a weather report on the green screen. Nice but cramped play area with slides for the little ones but my five year old is over that. We spend about an hour to a little over that at the planetarium. It's pretty entertaining every few months.

Looking for something to do in Salt Lake City when's it 68 degs and no snow on the mountains. Googled what to do in Salt Lake City. The first thing that popped up was the Clark Planetarium. Easy to find and with attached parking garage convenient. We received a parking pass from the planetarium for some reason it did not cover our whole stay. Ended up paying $ 3 dollars to park all day. That's a deal i can work with.
Inside we found several large groups of Kidd's on school trips. As they were working there way around the exhibits we choose to check out the theaters. They have two theaters and have different shows every hour.
We bought one each $ 7 dollars per person. Good shows.
After we did all the exhibits we went to the gift shop hoping to find something interesting to bring home. What we found was a toy store. Nothing worth buying . Overall a good place to visit next time bring a few youngsters between 8 and 10.

Fantastic place, educational and cheap price. If you don't watch the show, it's completely free. For show watching, if it's before 5pm, it's $7 per person per show. After 5pm,$9. They have two theaters, imax and dome theaters. Different theater has different shows.$55 for a double membership per year.

Just ok, kids lost interest fast and the movie was a little beyond their thinking. Price of movie is not worth it me. Stick to the free stuff.

The Clark Planetarium had its own stop on the tram. (It happened to be the stop we needed for our next activity and since we were right outside and it's free to enter we decided to take a look). On the Clark Planetarium website they state their mission "is to create and present enlightening experiences that inspire wonder in learning about space and science and to promote greater public awareness of the science in our daily lives." And that is exactly what they did! I've always loved science and its ability to challenge and intrigue human imagination. I shouldn't need to describe how it relates to our own mission. Countless discoveries have been made as a result of exploration and adventure. I feel that the human mind is limited if not changed and challenged from time to time. Exhibits that encourage questioning of one's own existence and that were also just plain old fun. My kind of place!

For a free museum this place is great! It took us about an hour or so to walk through and do all the fun activities. Even though it's meant for kids I recommend it to adults too! You'll learn a lot and have fun! There are also lots of photo opportunities.

The exhibits may be more geared toward children, but the Pink Floyd light show is straight adult time, baby. How do you get a child to be interested in an exhibit? Naturally, you make it interactive. The best part about the exhibits, is that they are entirely free to the public.
The allure for me has always been the films. Come here on a weekday, and you may find yourself damn near alone in front of a massive Imax screen. The films can be a bit "steep" price wise, but they gotta make their coin somehow. They are typically 30-40 minutes, and I've yet to see a dud.
The light show is the crown jewel, and something I've been doing consistently every couple years for the past decade. I'm biased to the Pink Floyd show (just writing about it makes me want to go) but the Led Zeppelin one is pretty great too. I've yet to see the "Rock the Dome" show, but I'll eventually get around to it. Definitely make sure you check the schedule online, because these cosmic light shows typically play later in the week/on the weekend.
On your way out, hit the gift shop. It's large and packed with all sorts of fun stuff.

We were waiting for a flight and had some time to kill – this place was a gem! Walked around some of the games and exhibits and saw a show at the dome. Found the overall experience really engaging and would highly recommend!

My memories of the Planetarium go back decades. I remember when it was the Hansen Planetarium, before it was located here, and that old building had some charm, if not real estate.
Newer memories of Clark were a little more sparse, but I hadn't been in years and when a friend invited me to go see a movie here with kiddos in tow, I took the opportunity for a refresh.
I really love the changes, how it's evolved over the years, and how much more interactive it's become. Now, I should also state that over the years it has become more and more kid-focused. It was always a kid-friendly activity, but all the changes have really been to the end to draw kids in and make it a place where they can come for some scientainment.
I've seen a few movies here and they are massive screens, and the features are really different. I just saw a volcano movie in 3D and it was a fun experience. You'll pay $7 for a ticket (plus online booking fees) for a 45 minute or so feature, but you're not going to see those anywhere else.
We didn't spend a tremendous amount of time there, but we did get to play around a bit with the exhibits, watch the two-story ball machine from both stories, and when it came time to restroom, they were neat enough. You can spend as much or as little time as you want–depending on your kids' patience–but we didn't want to get to mealtime and buy any of the food, though it's offered there for sale, along with a small gift shop.

Planetarium salt lake city was eye opening. My 10yr old daughter and i went with friends and saw the Classic Rock Laser Show. All the kids and adults singing to Queen Bohemian Rhapsody was an amazing memory made

Am I missing something or is this not actually a planetarium? It's a VERY COOL science museum but the definition of a planetarium is a dome with projected planets and stars for an interactive experience. The educational movies shown in a dome are not this – which is what I was expecting due to the name. I realize that this makes me sound like a stickler — but if I knew it was just a science museum I probably wouldn't have gone (no disrespect… I've just been to a lot lately and was looking for something else). Should they change the misleading name?

Many of the displays were not working, and staff was not helpful with our questions. Most all the items in the store are very overpriced, and can be found for much less online. Theatre was OK, but sound kept cracking; seemed like they did not have the volume adjusted correctly.

This place is awesome for folks of all ages. It has numerous science exhibits and various shows playing in IMAX or Dome theater. The exhibits are free but the shows cost money.
You can even use it as a time killer while you wait for your movie to start at the Megaplex.
Snacks are really affordable and decent portions, you can tell they are definitely not trying to make a profit from concessions.
