I wish that I had read the reviews before I booked, been here 4 hours and only been on 3 rides, 2 of which were children's rides where the queues are shorter, been queueing for nearly 2 hours for a ride which had an allegedly 95 minute wait time, completely overpriced, several rides not open and some not open until 2 or 3 hours after the park opened, complete shambles, no social distancing, miserable staff, overcrowded even though allegedly at 60% capacity, queue times incorrect, won't be visiting again, very disappointing

If no stars were an option, thats what it'd get. Spend over 拢250 on tickets for the family and had probably the worst day out ever. Place was absolutely rammed, no social distancing or masks worn barely anywhere, mass queues despite there being an apparent limited number of visitors so even the kids rides were impossible to go on. Never again. Toilets were disgusting and definitely not cleaned regularly if at all. Just disgusting and a waste of time and money. If you just want to stand around and do nothing all day, then this is the place to do exactly that.

I took my daughter for a birthday trip using our annual passes. I had to pre book our tickets (拢1 each), that鈥檚 fine. When I arrived I was told it was actually an extra 拢10 EACH on top of the annual pass on certain days of the week in Aug-sept. I still can not find anything about this on their website. Surely an annual pass means free entry ? Awful place to visit. Queues are far too long and take away the enjoyment. No one to contact at the end of the phone either, just tells you they are too busy !!!

Awful day, place was rammed, needs updating, queues rediculous. Only got on 2 rides all day. Social distancing a joke, signposting rediculous, kept walking round in circles. The road on the way out had more large craters than the moon. Very disappointed.

Absolutely appalling!!!!

We spent 拢615 to stay in The Gruffalo Suite on 24th August, we only booked it a week earlier when our France was cancelled. When I booked I tried to book dinner times but it said this was unavailable and that I should call, I called every day, I emailed, and then when I got to check in at the hotel I explained my situation to the staff and they told me to go up to my room and call down to the restaurant! I was then on hold for 20 minutes, at this point I went back to reception and asked how on earth can I book a meal! At this point I was told there was no availability for dinner and I should have booked brekfast and there was no availability!!!!! Me, my husband and my three year old spent the day around Chessington after having no breakfast despite booking bed and breakfast.

I have to shout out to Sam the Reception Manager who was literally useless, he told me the hotel manager would give me a call, and I am still waiting for it!

How can you charge someone 拢615 for one night bed and breakfast and then not even give them breakfast.

The customer service we received throughout our whole trip was absolutely awful and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

Chessington is a beautiful amusement park but the long line ups ruined the whole experience. We arrived shortly after the amusement park opened and waited for over an hr to get in. The average wait time to get on rides was 45 mins – 2hrs. In the end, we only got to go on 3 rides. Very disappointing for the price we paid (拢143 for a family of four). The only decent thing about the day were the burgers we ate at lunchtime and a few photos. Will not be returning.

We had been looking forward to our overnight stay and 2 days at the park since we booked in February for the may half term. Was postponed due to lockdown and rebooked for aug.
The park itself looks run down, uncared for, dirty and generally not great. The first day we heard lots of unhappy guests shouting and complaining for various reasons. The park got absolutely packed and although they said wasnt at full capacity seemed to be worse than when we've been before. Rides were broken down or closed which was annoying and made queues for remaining rides ridiculous. Waiting times were horrendous and waiting in a queue for an hour plus only to be told rides had broken down I'm surprised people at the front of those queues weren't absolutely incensed. The signage was rubbish. Social distancing was impossible. Having been to crealy last week which was brilliant, we couldn't believe rides at chessington were only being cleaned every half an hour, most times with only a spray bottle!? So it's ok to catch covid in between times! At crealy they had big spray pumps that they sprayed between every ride. It's a shame, greed seems to play a big part at chessington. Paying big prices for not much in return except waiting, including for food, astronomical prices for food and drinks.
Staff were quite disinterested. Hotel was mediocre. Not much choice at restaurant or for breakfast. Booked a slot for swimming at hotel pool but was told by lifeguard our kids could not go in the splash pool side as too many in there! I've read on some other reviews that park was open hour longer on that day because rides were broken down etc. No one told us. Complete lack of information.
We wont go again and wont be recommending to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Think it should be shut for couple of months and completely refurbished.

Took over an hour to get in!
Longer than normal queues some rides not open which results in longer queues on rides that are open. Only managed to get on three rides all day.
Went in smokehouse bbq and bar, menu is very small they lost my order, staff are abrupt and rude and food was lukewarm.
Won't be going again!

This place is a joke.
I recently visited Lego land and can happily say they had introduced allot of covid guidance and run very smoothly and the staff were well drilled馃憣
Here on the other hand was a shambles from start to finish!
Once we arrived at the resort, there were bag searches for male and female but in the 10-15 minutes in the que only males were physically searched and the females were NOT!
We then went to use the toilets before entering the resort these were disgusting and filthy, I would understand slightly if it was middle of the day but not upon opening!
We then was asked to show our confirmation email at the gate and badge, these were not checked properly at all and heard people saying that was easy, so would explain while it was over the capacity as not all the people were being counted!
Once inside the venue there were very few markings on the floor advising what directions they can go and as a result everyone was going all over the place, no social distancing in place at all.
Staff litter picking were using there sticks to play fight instead of picking up rubbish.
Staff had masks on but either were not on properly or kept taking them off(completed opposite to Lego land).

The first ride we went on was the children bus, we got to the front of the que and the girl said to those on it, I will have to call a technician as doors were jamming, but still allowed them to have a go, we were then next and was told it was unsafe and didn鈥檛 know how long it would take to get fixed. Surely the ones before should have been stopped too馃槙?
The group of 10 had to split into two as we had a mixture of kids and adults. One group waited twos hours for 1 ride while the other group had waited twice on two separate rides to then get near the front and to be told it鈥檚 broken.
So by 1.30, we had managed one group todo bumper cars and a rollercoaster and the offer todo only the bumper cars.

When we went to the customers service as advised todo by the ride operators, a male manager went up and down the que and said sorry for this morning and that they have extended the opening hours to 7 instead of 6! This does not make up for the lost 4/5 hours and didn鈥檛 work for us as we had plans for the evening for my child鈥檚 bday! He then reluctantly offered 1 fast track for the group but put a one hour time slot on it, we advised him we were going to get food first and he said the pass will still be accept. This was not the case and was refused!
The meal!…
Food tasted great however I am a pass holder and did not receive the 20% off, I asked the staff for help and she said it was not working and that I could pay, keep the receipt and go to customers services who would issue the refund, however they then said nothing they can do!
During the food hall there is a mandatory sign saying face mask must be worn be worn beyond this point however this was not done and staff did not prompt anyone. Tables were all In use and tables which had signs on to say not to use they were ignored!
Bins were unclean or full, Lego land had put a plastic covering over them, and changed this regularly!
Near the adult log ride forgot the name there is a kids toys bus, with a power station point to the right. The top is cracked and wires exposed not good in any setting especially a child area!

Finally At the end of the day one group had been on 3 rides and the other 4 rides as they were able to stay later!

To summarise
-staff were not trained in accordance to covid
-park was unclean
-park was unsafe
-park is a waste off money

My child was 5 on the day and he鈥檚 words we鈥檙e I wish I stayed at home! That says it all!

We took our 2 young children for a joint birthday present.

THE POSITIVE:
-The App.
There is a Chessington 鈥楢pp鈥?that tells you how long any queue is before you join it and decide where in the park you want to head next. The waiting times advised on the app were pretty accurate and help to manage your expectation to the Wait Time at whatever attraction you are heading for.
-The Staff.
The staff are great and a real credit to the park. Friendly and helpful.
-Variety of Attractions.
It was great to go from a mini-log flume for our young ones, then go and see the Penguins and Sea Lions, then go around an interactive attraction like Room on the Broom. The variety puts Chessington in a different level to a usual Day Out.

THE NEGATIVE:
– Everything has a Queue!
You don鈥檛 go somewhere like Chessington and not expect to queue. I once went to Alton Towers & queued 4 hours for 1 ride… my longest queue at Chessington yesterday was 1hr 40mins… But, be prepared to stand in queues for EVERYTHING you want to do. Even sometimes just walking around the park you queue to walk along narrow walkways.
20min queue to get into the car park, 1 hour queue to get from Car Park to ticket booth, 45min (minimum!) for any ride, 15min queue for toilets, drinks or food outlets. It does get a bit wearisome.
-It is not COVID Secure.
Though steps have been taken to increase cleaning of rides, and put dividers (fences etc) up between queues, there were far too many people in the park to be safe. This is my most significant grumble and Management need to seriously address the number of tickets they are selling per day. There were too many people in the park yesterday to maintain proper social distancing & all the cleaning in the world doesn鈥檛 stop the spread of an airborne virus when too many people are crammed into too small an area.
-The Exit.
The exit from the Car Park was ridiculous. For a park that caters for families, driving out is like a rollercoaster all of its own. It really has to be experienced to be believed. I would be amazed if some older vehicles aren鈥檛 damaged driving out of Chessington. Would it take much to scatter a couple of tonnes of gravel along the worst parts and fill in some of the craters? As a hospitality business, the final experience people have of their visit to Chessington is the Exit of the Park and I was dumbfounded that the exit road is how it is. I was just glad we didn鈥檛 buy a coffee for the drive home, because we would have ended up wearing it!

Just got back to hotel from an awful day out. Paid around 拢160 for us just to get in, nevermind the hotel I booked nearby to make it into a mini break for the kids.
Queued up for ages to get in. Unfriendly staff like they didn't want to be there (like me on my way out I guess), the queues were mad. Spend most of day doing this in the pouring rain. We trundled around all day getting soaked and waiting around. Got to go on about 4 rides in the end. Nowhere to sit (in shelter out of rain) and the toilets were disgusting. Some of them were shared so had urinals in too. Shocking!
We have been to Alton Towers and Crealy before and had way better experiences. I am sitting here with my kids gritting my teeth because my kids are trying to pretend they has a good day because they feel sorry for me!! I know they were really disappointed like me.

Oh and you can buy a 'hotdog' (a dry tinned sausage in a very dry bread with nothing on it) for 拢7!
I feel totally scammed out of about 拢300 which is horrible in this economic climate.

Only 1 star because I had to give it something. If you're a wheelchair user save your money and go somewhere else unless you enjoy sitting around waiting for your party to finish on rides.
Literally cannot go on anything remotely interesting because of 'health and safety ' yet places like Disney get it spot on.
I'm an independent person yet I've never felt more disabled after visiting Chessington. Accessible and inclusive? Not at Chessington.

The worst day out me and my partner have ever experienced. Thank God we had free tickets from a newspaper, as this hideous place does not deserve a penny of my money.
As soon as we walked in we noticed how run down, dirty and tired the place looked, totally soulless. Queues for rides were over an hour and even the queues for food outlets snaked around the grubby polystyrene buildings.
The 3 sea lions languished in an algae green pool, surrounded by concrete, their only stimulation provided by the sea gulls waiting to snatch an over-priced hotdog from an unsuspecting child.
The Zoo is akin to a Victorian prison, tiny enclosures, overgrown with weeds, the worst experience was observing the lions, a majestic, gorgeous male lion perched on a concrete block, a look of abject misery written on his face. It made me cry.
We stayed 30 minutes.
As I was leaving I asked the girl at the gate how she can work at such a soul-destroying, awful place.
Ironically, we entered the wrong car park on arrival and almost entered the Covid Testing drive through centre, we should have stayed there, having a cotton bud stuck up my nose would have been a more pleasurable experience.

Please don't buy chessington annual pass either standard one or premium one.. They will take your money and won't allow you access on days you wants.. They paying with Covid-19 issues.. and changing card holders more money & limited entry but giveing full & free entry for daily tickets buyers as they got more profits in this.. So they are cheating public who bought their full pass.. Never Buy chessington annual pass..

I took my 10 year old daughter to Chessington today. There is no way that Chessington have limited the number of guests into the park. I paid 拢85 online to arrive and queue for 50 mins to find out I was queuing for a bag search without actually having a bag. Grrr 馃が. Guests wearing masks 馃樂 inside and outside the park were none existent. The rides where masks were mandatory were the same no masks on the guests. I went to customer service to ask how mandatory is mandatory? A very polite young lad explained to me that some people are exempt from wearing a mask, I completely understand the government guide lines that explains this. I鈥檓 not a doctor or have any medical experience but I鈥檓 sure that 99% of the guests that travelled to Chessington today didn't have asthma or some other breathing related illness. After finally getting into the park at 11.15 we managed to queue for 3 rides in 5 hours 45 mins. If you really want to get COVID this is the theme park to get it. There was one half positive, all the sanitisers dispensers had sanitiser in them 馃憤馃徎 but smelt of onion when applied. 馃憥馃徎. This is the 1st night of my daughter and myself self isolating in the shed for 10 days to insure the remaining members of our family are protected. DO NOT go to Chessington to take part as we did in what I can only describe as some kind of social experiment.

I can honestly say today was the worst family day out I have ever had . I have 3 children and low expectations of theme parks I get them -however this experience was shocking and makes me want to cry. Arrived to an hours wait in the searing heat for a temperature check which the girl didn鈥檛 get close enough for it to be effective. After entering the park we needed a drink – 40 min waits for drinks v limited drink stops and food outlets closed or with huge queues. Forget social distancing this was a total nightmare absolutely no enforcement of masks or 2m distance. The staff could not of cared less ! If you want to catch covid then go to Chessington. The park was absolutely packed no way they had reduced numbers. As for the rides – we did 4 in 7 hours the wait times were so long and no shade for most rides.
Surely much of this is illegal in the current pandemic I just can鈥檛 believe this is allowed to carry on . The management are a disgrace the park is run by children with no knowledge of the park and no confidence to control the restrictions.
A truly horrible day and a very unsafe one too ! Do not go !

I recommend spending a day rolling around in broken glass and hot coals rather than visiting this theme park.

I took my two children aged 12 and 13 to Chessington yesterday. We had to book online so they could limit the numbers and ensure social distancing…..bwahahahaha. Yeah good one, we arrived and immediately joined an enormous queue to enter the park. When we finally reached the front, our bags were searched, this meant that one person, was touching one visitors bag and then the next visitors and so on, should any one of those visitors have Covid, it's likely that this bag searcher would be passing the virus on to multiple other people. It's easy to conceive of how this could have been avoided.

Anyway, after 30 minutes we were finally inside, great news. The first ride we arrived at had a 60 minute wait so we moved to another one….that also had a 60 minute wait. Never mind, we dug in, waited the 60 minutes getting slowly broiled in the heat and then had our 30 seconds of enjoyment. We moved on to the next ride, that one had a 90 minute wait. Not wanting to wander around aimlessly trying to find a ride that had a shorter queue we decided to join and wait. After 2 hours we finally got on the ride for our 30 seconds of enjoyment. We then joined another queue, after 4 hours we had still only been on 2 rides and had been stood around dying in the sun the rest of the time.

There were no real signs of social distancing, it simply wasn't possible considering how many people had been crammed in.

We managed to fit in 1 more ride before having to leave at 5.30pm having been at the park since 10.50am.

Like I said, most forms of torture would seem enjoyable by comparison.

Terrible day, please be aware these people only care about making money, today people were over-crowded with no respect to social distancing whatsoever; stacked like sheep. Paid over 拢200 and driving more than 100 miles for my kids to manage 2 rides only after 5 hours in this theme park; we could not even use the toilets or even the shops to buy water in this hot weather without having to wait for hours in queues; due to lack of management. My family and I had a terrible experience today, I will never come back to this theme park ever again.

Please, please DO NOT Give these people your money, As previous comments, kept waiting in the hot sun for over 1 hour to clear as silly security check. Restricted numbers forget it social distance no chance. All rides well over 1hour que , very little food and beverage open causing extra ques. Waited over hour for water ride only to be turned away because my granddaughter was half inch below the min height restriction sad people.will not be going back my advise stay well clear you have been warned.

Just come back home from our 1 night stay at Chessington. After reading the reviews the night before I was quite worried. Turns out I wasn鈥檛 to worry as our stay/ visit was very good! The park has tried their best to keep to social distancing rules but a lot of it is down to the visitors and their common sense.. which there isn鈥檛 a lot of! Hotel was great, limited menu but ok for us. Breakfast made up for it! Only downside to our visit is a lot of the drinks machines were either broken or sold out! So in the 38 degree heat wasn鈥檛 ideal but nothing鈥檚 perfect is it?

We paid 拢700 for 2 nights and and got only 2 days in the park. Well what can I say … The checking in is at 3pm and checking out is at 10am. Spending all day at the park kids don't get to enjoy much of the themed room. My kids were looking forward to treasure hunt but they were very disappointed to find out that there was no treasure hunt but the price I payed was very expensive for nothing. At the entry of the park there was this very rude and arrogant staff. Who had no customer service or manners. She doesn't know how to talk to customers and most of these young people that work there need retraining. I don't know who employed them with this stinky attitude. They hate there jobs and they look like they hate the customers. Each ride is between 1 to 2 hours que. With this hot weather kids and us were just drained out from the queing. I felt like I have been robbed. We managed to get 5 rides and we were finished. Why not put your prices down. This is not worth it at all. After exhausting day I had some drunk man from room downstairs banging on our ceiling in hotel room when my 2 year old couldn't sleep. So I banged back as this was out of order. Then he came and knocked on our door and my husband warned him off then slammed the door on his ugly, drunk face. The hotel is made of snot. I heard kids running very loudly everywhere but I never complained or band on anyone's wall as I knew that it's not there fault. They are kids, they are excited and they have no idea. But my 2 year old son couldn't sleep and no matter what we did he didn't want to so it's not our fault or his fault. For 拢700 plus the food and drinks and gifts I spend 拢1000+ at least provide decent hotel. This hotel was like holiday Inn with monkey, jungle wallpaper and themed rugs that's all. I don't recommend this at all. We are happy to be back home now…thank God!!!

They were liying they said they were social distancing and every one should wear a mask. It's all lies there was no social distancing at all and no one wearing a mask and the place was packed i am sure that place is not safe to take your family there. This people just tell you that to take your money they refused to refund our money cause I didn't feel it was safe to take my children ther

So far all I have done is followed the terrible signs and queued for over an hour with absolutely no likelihood of getting on a ride in the near future. They seemed to have packed many people into the overflowing carpark and taken our money in advance. My child is so disappointed, as are the people around us. There is hand sanitizer for us while we queue however.
