Excellent hotel property! Stay was wonderful from the bottom all the way up to the GM Berry, who was greeting guest this morning! You cannot go wrong with this Marriott! Great location to mall, many restaurants and Convention Center and hospitals (our reason for stay, new grandparents..whoa, whoa)!! Great food and bar and really great waiting staff!!
Thank you all for everything!!

I booked a room October 6, 2019 while traveling through the mountains. I couldn't drive my uhaul anymore at night. I called this hotel to cancel my room and stay in Princeton WV instead. I spoke to the front desk and they said I can cancel my room. I was shocked when I found out they charge my credit card. I called the manager the next day but they would NOT reverse my credit card!!!!

PLEASE DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!!! THRY LIED TO ME!!!!!

So, the hotel is nice, the staff is efficient and were friendly upon check-in. However, they set their AC at superwarm and there's NOTHING that you can do even if you ask for help. The fan doesn't run – high is the same as off… and you can move the temperature lower to (in theory) cool the room but IT DOES NOTHING. It's freaking HOT outside and my poor niece is sweating… inside… if we even get any sleep the warmth will likely cause nightmares. Never staying here again. šŸ™

Very nice hotel. I love decor in lobby. It very open and inviting. The rooms are very nice and spacious.

This is one of the worst hotels in West Virginia.
Service is null & void, the beds uncomfortable.
Do not stay here if there are other choices and you can help it. Told front desk was unhappy & said parking would be free for the sub-par service, wrong! Still charged me for it. Oh well lesson learned, will never stay there again.

Very awesome staff. Rooms is not bad. Great views. ONLY complaint is they play music outside all night. I was on the 12th floor and could here it with my sliding door cracked. Going outside to make a cal couldn't even do that. PLEASE turn down the music outside. Can't even have a decent conversation without being right up on someone!

I'll probably stay again, but will look for another Marriott that doesn't have blaring music.

The staff here was great. At check in, Marquis was great. I arrived early, but he was still able to get me into a room. I had lunch at the hotel and John was the bartender, he was super friendly and I saw him the next two days at breakfast as well.
The cons: the room is dated, the bathroom is small
I read on TripAdvisor that someone was complaining of the lobby and bar being cold… I thought it was just a one off, but it wasn't. The lobby and the bar were freezing in the afternoon. There wasn't really in and out traffic through the door, so it didn't seem like it should be that cold.

This hotel is pretty nice. The front desk staff is extremely friendly, actually more friendly than I would like, but maybe that's a West Virginia thing. They have a bar and restaurant in the lobby, as well as a fitness center and shop with snacks and drinks, I appreciate all these perks. The rooms were also very spacious and clean, and double bonus have pretty nice views. There is also a mall right across the street and it's very close to the Civic Center. Only downfalls are the $15/night parking, the indoor pool is really, and no free breakfast.

By far, one of our favorite hotels ever! The lady at the front desk, Taya, was so nice and helpful! We checked in so quickly and the hotel was so beautiful and welcoming. Our room was on the 12th floor and the hallways and elevators were so clean! There is no connection from the parking garage to the hotel, so we left the car out front while we unloaded and it was so convenient. The room was so clean and beautifully decorated. The bar was so nice and we ordered room service which was so easy and we had it delivered to the room. The staff were so friendly and you can tell they love their job. The pool and gym were up to date and we enjoyed both of them. Overall, if we are in Charleston, WV again, $104 a night for all these amenities cannot be beat! Definitely recommend!

Excellent stay in downtown. We stayed here on a quick overnight in WV and really enjoyed our stay. The lobby is excellent and the front desk staff were attentive and able to get us the room and the view we wanted (along with an upgrade). They offered us some good local info and the van driver (Jeremy) was happy and able to get us to dinner and back on a miserable rainy night. Staff had good local food recommendations and info. This property is slightly older, but very well kept. Room was recently renovated with new carpet and furniture and the view (although through the rain) of the river and bridge was pretty cool. Location across from the mall was also good. Stopped at the mall for a quick bite and then used the mall to help avoid the bad weather to walk to Capitol St in the afternoon.

3rd time here. Second time that shower did not have warm water at some point. 1st time water shut off during shower. Lobby/bar area on 1st floor has no heat. Unbelievable. This hotel is not investing in required improvements in infrastructure. Stay at nearby courtyard, embassy or Sheraton until water and heat issues addressed.

Lifetime Platinum Elite with Marriott so I've visited many Marriott brand properties. The Charleston Marriott is ok. Super friendly and outgoing staff. Never once had an issue during my many visits here. The rooms are small and a little dated but it's fine. I will say in comparison this place is a little beat up compared to other properties I've visited. Front lobby area is open and attractive. Most of the time the bar area seems a little sleepy. Sometimes a little over priced which is at odd days during the week. Concierge lounge attendant is one of the best I've ever met. Free parking if you use mobile check in on the Marriott app.

I enjoy staying here because of location. I was very disappointed the last time we stayed here because we couldn't take the early morning shuttle that is run for pilots. It is the only hotel in Charleston that ran an early morning shuttle that you could get to the airport. Planes take off at 6 in the morning all the time and they don't run a regular shuttle till 5:30. You can't ride a 5:30 shuttle and make a 6:00 international flight. This is why I only gave them 3 stars.

Do not stay here! I had my earrings stolen from the room! They were costume but they were nice costume. I filed a complaint and they did absolutely nothing! Said I should've locked them up. That isn't the point. I didn't think I needed to worry about someone stealing! Very dishonest employees and staff that seemed to care less!

More downtown than I anticipated, but we were tired and needed a place to stop.

It was late and we were both hungry….we we're super lucky that this particular Marriott had a restaurant open till midnight. Ordered some food to go, had a couple drinks…both waitresses were nice, but one poured a better drink.

Our room was fairly small, and a little outdated…the bathroom was REALLY small…you couldn't have someone sit on the toilet and open the door at the same time… but it was sufficient for our needs.

Called and reserved a room from the road, really lucky they had a room available because there was a soccer tournament and some other big thing going on.

All in all, good experience…. also one of the cheapest bills on our whole trip, which was surprising.

Overall I would strongly suggest not staying here. The quality does not match the expense. The place clearly tries to cut corners and it shows. The beds are oddly uncomfortable despite appearing luxurious on the surface. The AC is incredibly loud in the room yet it's stifling if you opt to turn it off. It was a restless night all the nights I stayed for a conference. Good luck finding a garbage can anywhere but the rooms. There appears to be one public bathroom in the hotel – near the elevators on the second floor. The drop off area is small and seems to have the Marriott vehicles taking up all the space. It's the 21st century yet they charge for Internet. They also charge a fortune for parking.

Since my grandmother told me you should always say something nice, I'll say this: the toilet paper was fantastic – soft yet strong.

Hard pass if you come to Charleston WV.

My stay at the Charleston Marriott was most unpleasant. The room was fair but the service was very disappointing. This is the first hotel I have ever stayed in that couldn't (or wouldn't) divide the room rate between two occupants. So, all 6 rooms I reserved for my group had to to stay on my credit card which was very inconvenient for my group. The parking was a fiasco and I ended up having to pay an extra $22 to get my car out of the garage after which the Marriott would not reimburse me. I will never stay there again.

This is one of my favorite Marriott's. Yeah, it is a little older, and the downtown Charleston is not exactly Mid-Town Manhattan, but you know it is still fun. One reason, is that depending on the time of the year, you can get a great rate. Now of course, if the rolling stones are at the Charleston Civic Auditorium, then the rates are going to go up, but on normal days, it is well within reasonable. Also, the rooms are nice and comfortable – at least the upgraded ones we get due to our status. The concierge lounge is a nice quiet place to work within the day, and a great place for snacks in the evening and in the morning. The staff is always nice, friendly, and helpful with any request, and the room is always clean … about what you would expect from a business class hotel. They are designed to help you be successful by giving you a bit of respite from the road … and it works.

I travel 75% of the week and I ALWAYS stay here when I am in Charleston. Not only is the hotel clean but the staff is amazing. The majority of them have been with the company for 20 years +, but they are exceptionally nice. Everyone always remembers me and treats me very well, specifically Paula and Brian!

After checking in the hotel I inspected my bed due to being informed of past colleagues experiencing bed bug issues in the hotel. Thank God I did not place my items on the bed or sit on it. There was in fact a live bed bug on my pillow. I will never stay here again.

I was really comfortable in the Marriott. The staff were friendly and check in and check out we're a breeze.

Our rooms were cozy and comfortable. The bathroom was a little small, but clean. And honestly, I'd rather have the latter.

The only bummer about this spot, is that you have to pay to park on site. It is $15 a day, which is not bad, but still should be perk for paying guests.

First time staying at the Marriott Town Center:

The Good: Exceptionally nice hotel. My room was very nice & clean. Extremely comfortable bed, cool air (not cold), & hot shower.

The Not-So-Good: No fridge, microwave, or safe.

The Ugly: Get ready to be nickel & dimed for everything. Parking is $15, wifi is $10, breakfast buffet is $12/$18 (wk/wkend).

In my opinion, MTC deserves 4 stars, but will I stay here again? Probably not. I really HATE being charged extra for everything.

They never cleaned my room and when I called, they said that the privacy tab was hung up. Bullshit! The maid came in and just did the bed and the sheets werent even new because we ate candy in bed and the wrappers were still there. I'm grossed out by this place. Stayed here for a prolonged weekend wedding

Probably the worst Marriott I've ever stayed at in the U.S. It was $201 dollars a night!!! I can overlook a place being old and not updated but it was incredibly poorly run. When checking in at 7 PM there was a line going almost out the door… There was only one person checking people into the hotel. That's not that unusual but this is a 15 story hotel that was at full capacity. I could go on and on about the service and the staff but I won't waste my thumbs….except to say that my room had a constant banging noise and I thought that I might die riding in the elevator. The Resturant seem to be run well and the food was good….so if you need to eat it would not be terrible.

It is an older Marriott, but rooms are very nice and clean. A young lady at check-in was very helpful. I was a bit disappointed by breakfast – it was very similar to Fairfield Inn's breakfast. A very few selections, no variety. At full service Marriott, I expected better.
