Chairish

I found a table I loved on Chairish. But from the start, dealing with their delivery person was terrible. I reported to Chairish and no one responded. Finally, table arrives and it is damaged beyond repair! The seller said it looked like he rolled it down a gravel road! Chairish response "apologies for inconvenience, we'll reimburse you" NIGHTMARE experience. Don't buy from this site.

Chairish is just another self-serving, greedy, big corporation — taking advantage of struggling small businesses while gouging profits and marketing themselves as a caring, virtuous company. Their shipping policies alone should squelch that myth. You could arrange your own shipping for a fraction of what they're charging. Some of their sellers might not be professional or service minded. But you can find the good sellers because they are selling on other platforms: 1st Dibs, Ruby Lane, Etsy, Facebook, Instagram, ebay, etc. — and on their own websites. You can find customer reviews so that you know they're legit and respected by their buyers. Do your homework. When you see something you like on Chairish, then find your seller elsewhere on the internet. Buy direct from the seller and save yourself some heartache (and dollars). There's no reason to support the corporate greed of modern robber barons in a lavish, high-rent district of downtown San Francisco when they're overcharging on shipping and treating their small business "partners" like… dirt.

Like many reseller sites like craigslist, facebook and offerup, it depends on the person selling each item to be forthright. I personally got a great deal with 2 expensive and discontinued lamps that usually go for $300+ each and I got 2 for $150 in good condition. I lowballed their offer of $230 and in less than a few hours they accepted $150 for 2. I just got them in the mail after a week of purchasing them and I couldn't be happier.

The shipping was $80 which wasn't great but they are heavy lamps. This is my first time shopping at Chairish, but I'm glad I did it despite all of the negative reviews here. I am a real person, not that you could tell from a comment but I'm very happy with everything.

I am a seller only. Will say I am appalled by what the unhappy buyers were sent and the condition it was sent in. I'd be livid too. Even though I don't own a store, I'm considered a 'professional'. This is why reviews are so important, not just for unhappy purchases. Downsized home and business and found myself with way too much of everything. So Chairish has been wonderful for me, where else could I sell and get a decent price for my quality pieces. I'm sorry for those who had a bad experience. But while Chairish is the platform, many (not all) issues are just bad sellers. 90% of my items I pay to have them packed. Sounds like many of these people are just too cheap to make sure your piece arrives in excellent condition.

Living in the Virgin Islands, I can't go to antique sales and designer shops. Chairish provides a wide array of really unique finds for my renovations. Can't live without it!

Ordered 4 champagne flutes. They came wrapped separately in bubble wrap and in a giant shipping box (18x18x18) with literally a garbage bag's worth of foam peanuts. These peanuts are non-recyclable and totally toxic to the environment. Do better, Chairish!

I bought a salt and pepper shaker. Sent were 2 pepper shaker with a cork bottom that is not removable to fill up the shakers. I tried to return but it was a few days more then 48 hours. I was not home due to covid to open the package within 48 hours. Customer service said no returns. I would never shop here again.

On 11/7/2020 I made an offer on a dresser to a seller, barbarella home, on Chairish. On 11/9/2020 my offer was accepted by the seller, and I was sent an email saying that shipment was being scheduled. And they charged me almost $3400 immediately. On 11/18/2020 they sent me an email saying my purchase was cancelled, and that they'd refund my card in 3-5 days, so they'll just keep my money for two weeks and all they offer as a consolation is a $25 gift card that expires in a year and is only good if you pay full price and don't make an offer? My first question is if the item was not available, then why did the seller accept the offer? My second question is why does Chairish allow scumbag sellers on their site? My third question is why are they charging my credit card for merchandise they do not have? And last, how did it take them 11 days to figure this out? My take on it is that they're intentionally allowing this to happen because they earn interest on people's money for weeks and never have to deliver anything. Total scam. This customer is lost forever and they'll be lucky if I don't sue them for breach of contract. If the money isn't back in my account in 5 days they are definitely getting sued. Time to put a stop to dirtbags.

Buyer beware! I鈥檓 so disappointed with this company. Despite many negative reviews, I gave them a shot and am highly disappointed. First and foremost their customer service is the worst I鈥檝e ever experienced, it鈥檚 almost impossible to get in touch with them or get a response. I ordered 4 caracole dinning chairs in showroom condition. The photos listed proved they were in practically perfect shape. Weeks after I ordered, sandy bottom shipping called me to set up a delivery. The day before the delivery I was informed their truck broke down and they were attempting to fix the truck or rent a uhaul. The next morning I followed up with them as I didn鈥檛 get a follow up. The woman told me they would be on their way the next morning. When they arrived I instructed them to leave the 4 chairs in the garage. My home is newly renovated and I was waiting on a rug to come before I put my table and chairs in the dinning room. The shippers dropped the chairs, took a photo and left. Myself, my sister, and friend went to bring the chairs inside and noticed the one chair in the far corner had several damages on it. I reached out to Chairish several times with no response. When I finally got ahold of someone I was told the shipper made terrible false claims about the delivery. He claimed I damage the chairs brining them in. I told Chairish I have video footage from my security system to prove he鈥檚 lying. They don鈥檛 care!

I purchased a large, expensive console from chairish.
When it finally arrived it was much, much darker than they showed it online.
I bought it for the fine features that showed up so nicely online but were hidden in the piece I received because of the dark color of the wood.
Chairish refused to do anything about this.
I am still angry and feel that they purposely change the look of the furniture online to make it more appealing to buy.
Very dishonest.

Purchased a rug from Babylon Rugs on Chairish that came with a large stain on it. Chairish has no buyer protections. I buy a lot of things on other platforms and have never had any issues in these instances where the seller gave an inaccurate description until I got to Chairish. The customer service trying to get them to do anything about it (unsuccessfully) has also been terrible. Avoid this site, use any of the other platforms with better buyer protections or know you may be throwing your money away.

I ordered two lamps from Chairish. They both arrived severely damaged beyond the minor scratches on the listing pictures. When I sent over 20 photos documenting the damage I waited three weeks to hear back and they claimed the lamps were as represented! Really? They were glued together with crazy glue! When I asked to return them they said I would be charged $90 in shipping! For two three pound lamps. Are we shipping to Russia? AWFUL. When I read the other reviews of this site, this seems to be common practice. NEVER AGAIN.

I recently ordered an antique reproduction grandfather clock that the Chairish website stated was in North Carolina. I was told 7-14 days for delivery. after a week with no response from the seller (Moraclocks.com) I called Chairish but they not only tell callers that that they are exceptionally busy, they say not to call back as it "will only delay our response." Then the recorded voice allows less than 5 mins on hold before they require you to leave a message. I eventually got help from Chairish who called and texted the seller, but got no response. Finally on day nine I got a tracking number from the seller, who turned out to be in England, not North Carolina. The clock was "being collected" by the shipper for an additional three days, but surprisingly, it did arrive in a bit over two weeks. The clock case was fine, but I thought for what I paid for it, the battery motor (Chinese with no jewels in the movement) could have been replaced with something for $5-7, and the clock face was paper glued to a piece of Masonite. I am buying my own clock face and motor. These things are not a big deal, except that the seller's description of the product is sufficiently ambiguous that the buyer is unaware of the details. So when you buy from Chairish, don't believe that what is on their website is an accurate description of the product or where it is coming from, and good luck trying to contact them should problems arise in the transaction. Caveat emptor!

Rude, unprofessional, uneducated " customer service*. In my experience they have allowed fraud as both a buyer and seller and change their policies ar whimthey think they are entitled to make financial decisions despite not being owners or consignors just brokers. Yet in Ponzi scheme like modus they keep your money even after you ship merchandise. Literally sometimes for months So at any given time they have millions of their customers dollars and millions of customer merchandise and could just close down…

This company does nothing to honor their stated cancellation or return policies. In fact, they avoid customer calls/emails on these matters. I've had to open a paypal claim against them. Awful. Don't buy from them. Ever.

Chairish has a lot of variety in their listings and I'm sure the individual sellers are great. But the whole point of using their service is to arrange the logistics, and unfortunately they're terrible at that. The moving service damaged my stairwell when they delivered a dresser I purchased. By some miracle, the dresser wasn't damaged. I took photos immediately afterwards. After three emails and three phone calls, complete with the usual "let me transfer you" and then hanging up on me, I got an email a full month after my delivery saying they would not reimburse me at all for the "white glove delivery" fee. What an awful experience.

I had a very disappointing experience with Chairish.com. This business is a fraud. They sell fake goods in the name of antiques. I purchased antique lamp shades from a seller ''two worlds arts'' on Chairish who had advertised it as "In Original condition". When I received the items, they were NOT at all as described on their website and were infact poorly painted. I immediately contacted customer service(within 48 hours as per their requirement) to return this item & requested refund. There was ZERO customer service response, they tried their best NOT to respond to my request. I was finally told by chairish that seller was not responsive to their emails when infact the same seller was again allowed to sell same lamp shades on their website. With a lot of haggling they finally agreed to issue refund which on reciept was actually less than half of amount i had actually paid. Never refunded my full due amount. Also they made me pay heavy shipping costs both ways. I warn everyone NEVER to buy from Chairish. They were an ugly experience to deal with.

In good faith, I purchased a Green Factory Table (replica of an antique table). I paid $430 plus $75 shipping. Received the table and I really like it. Here's the problem. I went to the website of the company who makes it (Napa Home and Country), and they are selling it for $350. I was shocked. So, I did a wider search. Amazon is selling it for $311 and free shipping. Chatterwold is selling it for $288 and free shipping. Cherish made it sound like their price was a deal — table coming from a Chicago designer was the floor model, it said. I ended up paying, with shipping, over $500. I feel very ripped off.

I have sold 35 items on Chairish in the last two years and purchased two. I have had no issues. Yes, shipping takes a while but shipping from and to one-off locations is going to take a while AND not be cheap because there are no scale economies. I have sold antiques and Baker furniture–all of which have arrived undamaged. I am a very honest and transparent seller. I suspect one big improvement the site could make is to allow reviews of their sellers. That way buyers would be aware if someone falls short or is deceptive. What is great about Chairish is that it is open to anyone — not just dealers like First Dibbs.

I purchased a (OOAK) chest on May 17th. They claimed it would be delivered on June 19th, using Metropolitan Warehouse (another terrible company, check out their reviews). They set up a delivery for June 19th and then informed me by phone on June 18th that that they didn't have the item and don't know when it will arrive 'at the warehouse' or where it is. This happened 3 more times before today (July 20th). I was onto them and started documenting all the lies including with Metropolitan Warehouse. Chairish 'customer service' (a Complete Joke) is overseas somewhere, possibly India, and are consummate liars and scam artists. I opened up a PayPal dispute last week and scammer "Darshan" from Chairish told me they couldn't deliver on July 18th unless I closed the dispute- I told him this was a bold-faced lie, and so he backed off, not to be heard from again. Of course there was no delivery on July 18th so I did the credit card chargeback on July 20th. Then "miraculously" I received a refund from "Tamara" (on Indian business hours) plus a $200 "Discount" because I had told them I was putting them on blast on the Internet. "Tamara" stated she had "just" found out the item was "irreparably' damaged, how CONVENIENT and plausible. This after 4 weeks of no one telling me WHERE the item is, since it isn't "at the warehouse". Anyway you get the picture: completely horrible company. And of course they "Darshan" tried to blame COVID-19 for the "small delays" because when you are this terrible, of course you will go there. AVOID AVOID AVOID. And I wouldn't but anything else from them if they paid me $2000.

I was really excited about the rug I purchased on this site, as it was exactly what I had been looking for! The day that the item was slated to arrive, I woke up to a delivery confirmation email (sent at 5am). When I went downstairs, the item was not there. I checked the UPS tracking, and it stated that the item was delivered at 10:07pm the night before (a day early), which seems odd, as that is well outside of the usual residential delivery window. Further, it is irresponsible at best for a shipping company to leave an item unsecured at that time of night (I was fast asleep). I live in the city, so normally I'd assume the item had been stolen. However, there were torrential downpours overnight that night, so it seems unlikely. Before contacting Chairish, I checked with neighbors just in case, and also reached out directly to UPS, who only regurgitated their own tracking info, and noted that any insurance claims must be opened by the sender, not the recipient.

I contacted Chairish on a Friday asking for their assistance. By Tuesday, I had not heard back, so I wrote again, (after calling UPS one more time and being told the same thing) and confirmed the item had still not arrived (so it was not merely an error with the tracking). I got an extremely dismissive response with an attachment of "proof of delivery" (which was once again just the same tracking info from UPS) and saying they cannot open a claim for something that UPS shows as having been "successfully delivered." What constitutes a successful delivery? Instead of offering alternatives (or even a discount on a re-purchase), they suggested I "contact local authorities" and said if I required any further assistance, I could contact them.

So here I am as a consumer, with no item, no refund or replacement, no recourse to UPS as the recipient, and a customer service response that basically tells me to go pound sand. I was quite happy to support independent artists, but quite frankly, this is why people tend towards big box stores who have the ability to work with their customers in unfortunate situations, rather than basically saying "too bad". Avoid this company at all costs.

No seller oversee.
Horrible website- duplicitous search engine.
Quality and honesty of sellers is variable and no recourse for poor quality or bad sellers.
Some sellers have their own website and this is preferable for buyers.
I am appalled that they fail to inform buyers about their surcharge.
It is one thing to do it and another to hide it.
Buyers AND sellers beware!

I have been communicating with Chris for 6 weeks regarding my damaged sideboard. Seller listed as 'no imperfections'. When item arrived it was barely wrapped and had 'gouging' damage to the center top of the piece and scratched off finish to the left of the damage in the picture. Every week I receive another request for information or pictures. Sometimes they make an 'offer' for settlement. I've had it.
