My recent experience with them was very positive. Rented a small car from Lisbon Portela airport for a week. Received a complimentary upgrade to an SUV on arrival. There were no hard selling techniques, no tricks, no problems. Checked the car, took some pictures for peace of mind. Car return was fast and easy, deposit refunded on the spot. Will use them again.

225 euro damage costs for a scratch under the front bumper! i asked for a receipt ( they refused), I asked for proof that the work had been done ( the refused) and when I pointed out that the only way the scratch could be seen is if I laid on the ground with a torch, they said that I had signed the acceptance agreement. Do not use this company, there are many more who are straight and honest with their customers!

Awful – total rip off
despite already having insurance bought in advance they refused to let us take the car unless we bought their overpriced and unnecessary insurance. Total rip off.

Great Value, Car was clean and relatively new, it had a few scratches on it which once we pointed it out to the staff they were happy to sign off. Desk Staff were courteous and very helpful, and spoke excellent English. Only issues I would have is 1. More staff manning the desks for the later flights. 2. Transfer to Office was a bit chaotic and not very organised (only 1 person looking after all passengers in Airport). Apart from that I was very happy using Centauro PT and would have no problem using them again in the future.

No problems whatsoever with our hire agreement from Heraklion, Greece. Car was ready – no queue – no quibbles on damage and supplied full to full. On return, no problems and accepted back. Fuel was credited to my account within 3 working days. I've rented 100's of cars and this was a pleasant experience.

Got my car at the Lisbon Airport counter. Check in was slightly slow but pleasant and efficient. Return was very smooth, I was particularly happy to see my deposit returned immediately and with zero inconvenience, despite the worries that arose from the negative reviews I read here. Definitely recommend

I rented a car from Centauro on the 31st of July and returned it on the 6th of August from the Lisbon office. Upon returning the car Centauro inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the there was nothing wrong with it. My security deposit of 鈧?00 euros was supposed to be returned to me within 5 working days.

It has now been 9 working days and I'm still waiting. No one has responded to my emails not has anyone answered the phone.

Honestly find alternative company guys. STEER CLEAR!!!!

Pick up need some improvements. Drop off perfect. Confusion about insurance of wisecars. If you have a problem with the car you have to pay everything and after a administrative burdon.

Do never rent any car here!

In resume my bad experience at the this Rental car Centauro in Lisbon, they start asking for a credit card is needed for the reservation, which the employee said this is common in almost all places and is not true, because dozens of times I have rented a car and didn't ask for credit card, sometimes they ask for deposit, but they can accept in cash as well and two days after I was renting a car in Azores also booked from your app Rentalcars.com, and they don't ask for credit card or even any kind deposit money ahead, so, after this he said, that a debit card can also be used, but its not their preferred method and a deposit of 300鈧?will be needed, and cannot be accepted in cash…..I had 800鈧?in the pocket and in my debit card I had around 250鈧?which of course make me think of another solution, making a fast transfer between other account I have a make the 300 euros available for the deposit, after I had finished and went to resume the booking at Centauro, a after taking most of my personal data and profile creation and waiting time, he said that there was needed another 52 euros deposit for the car full tank…… and of course I had only about 310鈧?in the debit card and 800 euros in the pocket but cannot be used for booking!!! of course after this me and my girlfriend got really upset and decided to go else where.

Don't rent a car here !!!

If you don't take out the additional 22 euro a day insurance, you do not only get a 1050 euro claim on your creditcard which takes forever to get back, they will also make sure they will find (small) scratches on your car so they can charge you money for that on return.

You are practically unable to rent a car cheap here. Go to one of their competitors and get a better deal in total.

I will never rent at Centauro again, although the car and the service were ok.

I would never use this company. Made to wait in car park in blazing sun, shuttle to car hire offices abysmal, dodgy T&Cs and, to cap it all off, a shuttle driver who physically attacked my (60 year old) wife, forcing me to defend her . Even worse, the company have failed to even discipline their driver and most definitely failed us as customers. Rude, incompetent and neglectful. Never use them again

I booked through Centuaro despite the low reviews as it was the only company with cars available. It was a terrible mistake.

Initially the signs weren't good. We flew into Faro and it took us over an hour to get to the pick up location as we had to walk for ages to then wait for over an hour to get a mini-bus where we were then kept waiting at the collection desk.

The staff at the collection desk was rude and clearly didn't want to talk to us, even to explain the charges he wanted to put on our card. We were then finally able to pick up our car, which was dusty, dirty and smelled bad.

Not great so far, but it was late and we just wanted to get to our hotel. The car did not perform well over the next couple of days, but ran ok most of the time.

However, it broke down on the way to the airport, meaning that we missed our flight. The staff were again very unhelpful, cutting us off several times before we were able to get them to send a tow truck. The two truck then made us sit by the side of the road for over an hour to wait for a taxi that hadn't been ordered. We then had to drive to the airport in the tow truck which didn't have seatbelts.

They then told us that we'd misfuelled the car, something that I highly doubt as we'd been driving around on that tank for three days and were going to fill up at the airport before dropping off.

We pointed this out and they said that they would investigate. However, when we returned home after spending a huge amount on new flights, we found out that they had charged us for a misfuel immediately. This isn't a huge problem as our insurance covers misfuels, except for the fact that Centauro have just billed us. So we have no invoice, no damage report, and cannot progress any of our insurance claims.

We are massively out of pocket and see no way to remedy this. Centauro complaints department is only contactable via email, and they do not respond.

I would recommend never using this company, they have just been a complete waste of time and money. I couldn't be more unhappy with my service unless they had taken a leg as payment.

When I book a car through a homepage, and my search criteria is a car rental AT the airport, it is a big scam that I have to be picked up, and transported to a place in the city to get a car, and likewise when returning, I don篓t want to return a car and then have to wait for a shuttelbus 30 minutes, that is definately okay.
When I make the effort to go to a home page to make a reservation and make an effort to put in all details of my driverslicens, adress, and what the hell you need, it is not okay that I have to fill in the same details one more time.
When I at a homepage get the offer to pay for extra coverage on insurance, and then get to your place, just to get told that this will not cover anything by you, and you will block 1200 euros on my card if Im not paying for extra insurance. This is for me a big scam againg.
I will definately not use your company again, and will ask you to remove me from your "gold club"
And this will not be written with small letters:
"IF I RECIEVE ANY OFFERS OR ANYTHING REGARDING RENTING A CAR FROM YOU, I WILL SEND YOU A BILL FOR MY TIME, READING AND DELETING YOU STUFF"

If I could give them no stars I would do.
Travelled Sat 7th July arrived on time at 8pm. Took me over 2hrs from leaving baggage reclaim to getting my car and I was lucky it took most over 3 hrs. Then the full to full policy I specifically chose mysteriously became half to half with a precharge for fuel. then the ford focus (or similar) became a Fiat500 4 door with less power than a milk float.

Other details:
Have to walk to farthest corner of car park for a shuttle bus. Shuttle bus is a small minibus that only seats 8 people.Takes 10 mins to get to car hire centre.
Return was easy but the wait for the shuttle was again 30mins so leave plenty of time to get to your flight!

Never had any issue with Centauro. Note: Their full policy is sometimes not fair. Just pay attention to what you book.

I rented a car from a car rental portal, on the basis of a given criterias to select the type and rental policy details (ie. full to full fuel tank policy). When I arrived at Centauro, they told me their company charged an extra 25鈧?for filling the tank, even though I had tried to avoid that policy. Moreover, they charged me for the fuel that was already in the car, at their own price of course. Centauro took the liberty of applying their own policy, not respecting the selection criteria I had requested, and told me to complain to the rental portal. Such practice had never happened to me before with other companies!
Not to forget that they take the largest deposit of all car rental companies (1200鈧?.
Their Lisbon office is located quite far from airport, although their website says they are IN the airport.

DO NOT USE LISBON OFFICE

We had an accident and had the total displeasure of having to deal with Centauro Lisbon's 'customer service' team, who is one lady, who replies to emails about once a fortnight. They avoid questions and were actually going against what their own pricinv

The assistant at the Centauro office originally took the wrong passport at first, but then took mine after. He obviously did not correct the name on the documentation and we did not notice as we were rushed off the drive as there were cars behind who needed to get out. Luckily the insurers did not need it to be in my name, as other things were, as Centauro refused to provide an amended version.

They then flatly refused to provide a repair invoice or ANY form of proof of what the cost of repairs were, which made my insurance claim drag on for over 5 awfully stressful months.

This was after the actual incident itself, whereby they sent someone out to us and had the vehicle towed to somewhere within Comporta, where we were, but left us stranded in the middle of nowhere (by a beach), with no way to get back to Lisbon. We had to arrange a taxi through some security guards at the beach and pay for a 鈧?25 taxi ourselves. The manager at Centauro gave us a ring later in the evening to apologise and to say they will refund it but that was the last we heard from him. He does not reply to emails. It took about 11 weeks to finally get the refund after constantly chasing them.

I doubt my insurers ever got what they needed from Centauro. They only paid out after I was mad to keep raising complaints.

It took 72 emails to get my claim resolved and I shall never use Centauro again. An absolutely horrendous experience.
