I rented an expensive motorhome from Drogenbos (Belgium) and the specification was completely false and Campanda has done nothing to try and address this with me.

The motorhome was shown with an oven, double beds and advertised as luxuriously equipped but it was showing a different vehicle!!!

So far Campanda has made no effort to refund me any of my deposit or answer any of my complaints.

The photographs on their website were for a different motorhome, which in my mind is completely fraudulent and false advertising but they don't care.

Instead they said that the agreement is with the campervan owner and did nothing to help.

However as per all the other reviews on the German Campanda Trustpilot page – they are happy to take you 40% deposit via credit card! Not a very stereotypical German company at all!

When you try to call the London UK phone number they rarely answer the phone but when you call the German number they answer much quicker. Clearly UK customers are at the bottom of the priority list – be warned!

When I booked the motorhome it wasn't clear that only the deposit is paid by credit card and the balance and security deposit is paid by bank transfer, which we all know is difficult to retract when things are wrong.

The owner of the motorhome in Drogenbos (Belgium) also took money from our deposit for a "new" scratch and didn't refund the rest of the deposit for over 2 weeks, after being chased by myself and my bank.

He also didn't care that he is advertising a motorhome with oven an luxuriously equipped when there is not even a kettle! Very difficult to cook for a family of 4 without an oven/microwave/kettle/toaster/grill.

Again Campanda simply emailed and said they couldn't reach him – less than helpful.

The owner of the motorhome forced me to sign an agreement, which was written in French, refused to give me a copy of the agreement and also made me sign a damage report upon collection when it was torrential rain (so we couldn't see hardly anything). Note – it was 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and we were already 24 hours into our delayed holiday journey and there was no alternative motorhome on offer, so we were effectively trapped and had no option but to accept it (campsites, ferry already prepaid), 2 young children in the car!

Visa argue that we accepted the motorhome but given the circumstances, timing etc we needed something to continue with our trip and had no choice.

Also many of our complaints were not immediately noticeable until a day or 2 had passed by. For example there was 1 levelling block (useless for levelling a motorhome)! No washing up bowl. Childrens Ikea beakers/plates are not luxury! No water hose connector! The 2 small single beds became a real frustration after 1 or 2 nights on them! It was one thing after another and then a hassle to get part of our deposit refunded.

The .co.uk element of this website should in my opinion not be allowed because the contract was not supplied in English. When things went wrong we were arguing with German speakers and French speakers, so there is nothing English about this service or offering.

Campanda are very clever because they entice you into the credit card booking with a nice looking website but then make you pay the balance direct to the owner via transfer, sign the owners paperwork and therefore divulge themselves of ALL responsibility and it makes it hard for Visa or your bank to recover money – VERY CRAFTY!

The worst rental experience I have ever had and I highly recommend you avoid them at all costs.

Please note we have booked 2 other motorhomes in the UK without any issues and many other villas / apartments. This was a trap from paying the deposit and with no support thereafter.

I hope to save you from the pain we encountered, which ultimately ruined the holiday (2+ weeks of stress upon return).

I am still awaiting Campanda to respond or refund me my 40% booking deposit for a vehicle that doesn't exist! Campanda please contact me urgently if you read this!
