I am a senior citizen enrolled in a program at CalOptima called PACE . Program for all inclusive care for the elderly. I have been with the program for 3 years now. It is just over 4 years old now. You have to be over 55 to get in and a medical condition that would benefit from the services PLACE offers. When they say all inclusive care they mean it! They cover medications including over the counter ones 100%! Ambulance transportation is not normally covered by CalOptima but it is with PACE. If you ever got a ambulance bill you know they are hundreds of dollars. PACE runs a senior center stocked with nurses, doctors, physical and occupational therapists, dieticians, aids, a recreation specialist, case manager, social workers, home care specialists, and lots of participants. Free transportation is offered to us. A morning shake graham cracker or other food is offered in the morning, hot lunch and afternoon snack are provided. Hot coffee and tea, cold regular and flavored water beverages are available all day. Milk soy and 2% and other beverages prescribed by the dietician are served with lunch. They will even help you eat if you need it. Programs for exercise, Tai chai, fall recovery and weight loss are provided. English as a second language classes are available. Computers and help with them is offered. We frequently have musical guests and other entertainment like hula dancers plus special events like Halloween contests, Christmas parties and other fun things to numerous to mention here. Oh I forgot Bingo almost every day with prizes. EVERYTHING AT PACE IS FREE!
