It is unfortunate to say but even low-budget companies like RyanAir and WizzAir appear to be better and caring more about their customers than Bulgaria Air. I am exceptionally disappointed with the way Bulgaria Air handled the pandemic situation in such times of uncertainty! While all other airlines acted responsibly and cancelled their flights to and from destinations that are under lockdown making sure they contacted their customers keeping them informed, Bulgaria Air did not make an effort to contact us in any way to let us know of our options while our flight remained on schedule! Bulgaria Air decided to respond to the COVID-19 situation by "running flights" during times when everybody was either forbidden or strongly advised not to fly, sparking confusion and chaos amongst people. All this on the expense of passengers. I think Bulgaria Air's response was largely unacceptable and it is about time they start complying with common regulations.

We are now exhausted trying to at least change our flights but with no luck so far. We have tried to email them more than 10 times and called them more than 200 times (no exaggeration) but their customer service is essentially non-existent. The few times we managed to get through there was always a problem and they could not solve the issue right away and we had to call again when finally one lady advised that we not only cannot change the flights but we have to even pay some kind of 'no show fee' even though we have been trying to contact them forever. This was her response after 2 of her other colleagues before that actually said that it is possible to change the flights we only had to call again in another time due to problems with the system…. Unbelievable! As I said right at the start – AVOID AT ANY COST.

Very good experience.
Easy to change any flight or date for 50 euros.
Call-center answers very quickly.
Best food.

Avoid by all means. Denied boarding due to overbooked flight. NO compensation whatsoever, NO response from the company to multiple emails, or to complaints filed in their online system. Hotline admits this should not have happend, but does not feel responsible and redirects you to the complaints desk. Since the company operates under a legal system that is stuck somewhere between inefficient and non-existent, you can forget about your EU passenger rights. They are not enforceable in the country because the company cannot even be bothered to respond to the national regulator. I leave it up to you to imagine what the general quality of services, or in fact the safety of that carrier might be…

Pilot couldn鈥檛 land the first time and retried and didn鈥檛 even give us information.

Having just came back from vacation with Bulgaria Air, im going to warn everyone I know about them.
First off we arrive in the airport, and the minute we have to start boarding, we get told plane i delayed for 5 hours. We get zero explanation or information from anyone, even the information desk had no idea.
After the first 2 hours they made sure everyone got something to eat/drink. A bottle of water, a dry bread and 2 slices of cucumber, and a cracker.
Then we got further delayed for an hour, still no information.
Finally in the airplane about an hour in, our 14 year old kid got sick, and vomitted all over himself and his seat, no vomit emergency bags anywhere.. had to ask the stewards over and over to bring bags, franticly trying to clean up the mess there was no assistance besides a few handy wipes from the personel, who all 3 of them, left the cabin while all this was going on and went in front of the plane with closed curtains. No assistance at all.

You get what you pay for, but I wouldnt travel for free with this terrible company.

I have been a frequent customer of Bulgaria air..usually quite happy until the last month when the flight had almost 4 hours delay on the flight which should last about 45 minutes, thanks to that I nearly missed my connection flight, was not able to check in my luggage as the gate was closed which caused that all the fluids such as parfumes, sun creams, in the luggage had to be thrown away (value around 150euros) and had to pay another 60 euros to have that luggage taken for the other connection flight. Since according the EU law I should get a 250eur refund for such a delay, I contacted Bulgaria air twice, however they did not get back to me, so going to leave this matter with a lawyer.
The delay can happen time to time, however really very disappointed with the approach of the airline.

Absolutely avoid that company! Poor service, poor food or no food and REALLY expensive prices… NEVER AGAIN!
