Having had a really poor experience with another car hire company in Italy, I approached my next car rental, with Budget in Munich with trepiditation.
The comparative experience in terms of picking up the car and returning it, in broadly similar circumstances as to the type of car, the length of hire and the use of the car could not be any starker.
Pick up took a little time due to computer system issues, however, the politeness of the staff member I was dealing with was exemplary. Instructions as to finding the car and exiting the airport were good.
The car was in good condition and was entirely fit for purpose.
Return was super-efficient: it took no more than three minutes from parking the car to signing off the contract.

Renting the vehicle was without problems. During the car return, the office was closed even though it was still during the working hours, and they charged us late return for no reason, even though we dropped off keys at the empty office.

First time I had remarks on a returned car.
Long line to get a customer representative.
Unfriendly attitude: when retrieving the car, return the car and once again talking to a customer agent.
Everyone had the attitude: talk to someone else
Received additional mail with found damages – after the car was returned. No electronic contact info – no response on phone by alleged person Jasmin Maier.
