Well, our dream came true when we moved house recently which required the removal of its extensive quality light coloured carpets for the same reasons, 2 pet dogs. A quick Google search took us to Broadleaf in Llandeilo in Wales where we had the good fortune of meeting with the Manager, Mr Andrew Barratt who impressed us from the word go: no hard sales tactics but, loads of patience for very discerning customers who we are. He restrained himself to allowing customers make their own choice offering sensible professional advice. After a few days mulling over it, we chose what my wife and I wanted from the extensive and very tempting range of designs and price. Antique smoked Parquet flooring it had to be! Mr Barratt was able to accommodate our specific requirements – to have the flooring done before Christmas albeit precious time was left. He recommended a master fitter Cefin, facilitating us to engage him from his hectic schedules of travelling all over in Europe to manage our job. The quality of Broadleaf Parquet wood flooring was matched by the excellent workmanship and attention to meticulous detail by Cefin and his team of young men. To say that the finished job exceeded our expectations is no exaggeration! Getting Cefin to return in order to attend to a few minor adjustments given our exacting demands was straightforward and quick. Our family and friends visiting during the festive season were blown away by the sheer transformation and elegance in our very spacious hallway, corridors and elegant living room. On the part of Mr Barratt, he has always been true to his word: kept tracking the progress of the work and even afterwards, enquiring whether everything was completed to our total satisfaction! That鈥檚 what we call excellent after sales service! We would highly recommend Broadleaf and the fitters the company recommend!

In 2014 I had two doors, door frames, floor, skirting and architrave all from Broadleaf and fitted with their recommended fitter. All went very well and I was totally satisfied with the products and the service.
I needed some more architrave so I naturally went back to Broadleaf. The architrave was delivered to my house and to my disappointment all pieces had ginormous knots. Obviously knots are natural and many add feature to the look. These knots where all massive, dead and after checking there was absolutely no way that it could have been fitted without having holes big enough to stick your fingers in. More to the point, the products that I previously received were great from broadleaf. I took photos of the poor quality architrave, rejected the delivery and contacted Broadleaf, hoping to resolve the issue. I was told that if I wanted product as before I would have to pay an extra 拢48 for the warehouse staff to select the good ones and that they recommend I come into the shop to inspect and collect. I was a little insulted by this, and requested that I be sent satisfactory products else sadly my great opinion of Broadleaf will be damaged. Broadleaf refunded me the cost of the architrave but kept the delivery. I loose 拢40
Still in need of Architrave I contacted a lesser known smaller company. I explained my experience. Within in a couple of days some absolutely perfect architrave arrived at my house which was about 25% cheaper than Broadleaf.
Very sad to write this, and sad that I unfortunately would not recommend Broadleaf after my experience.

Don鈥檛 get me wrong, we had a good service from Broadleaf and its recommended (independent) fitter, and the floor looks good. In writing this review with a poor rating, I am wanting only to alert people to the need to consider very carefully whether it is – as claimed 鈥?really suitable to sit on top of under floor heating. Discovering that the heating in my new extension doesn鈥檛 seem to cope with extreme cold, I looked for the reason. Everything seems to be fitted and working properly, and yet: it鈥檚 not warm. On investigation, I learn that flooring has a tog-rating (or equivalent) which gives a number for 鈥渢hermal resistance鈥? This is the amount of insulation keeping your heat down (i.e. preventing it from coming up). The Broadleaf boards are thick at 20mm and ours are wide at 20cm. The fitter recommended (and expressly told me that there was compatibility with UFH) an 18mm ply sub-floor. If I understand correctly, this gives a tog-rating of 1.7 +1.4 = 3.1. Which, it turns out, is higher than the 2.5 recommended by the manufacturer of the heating which I have (and which I imagine is typical). I am not a technical person and so will simply say: don鈥檛 make this mistake (it鈥檚 gutting to have a relatively expensive fit-out that you can鈥檛 really enjoy in winter!) unless someone on your design and fitting team will give you a cast-iron 鈥渇itness for purpose鈥?warranty. I will also say that the help or comment we got from Broadleaf and the fitter upon enquiring about this did not amount to much, or in fact anything. They weren鈥檛 evasive or obstructive: they just didn鈥檛 know. I would have thought that businesses that supply and fit flooring on top of UFH would know this stuff inside out and have been able to explain to me why the recommended fitting method should work and not cause problems. But, answer came there none!
