I complained about the vile behaviour of the receptionists and the Senior Receptionist/now known as Assistant Practice Manager in particular. Not only have I on more than 4 occasions found her attitude to be racist towards me but she is just so rude! Any new receptionists joining just follow her lead so for the second time in over 15 years I could not take it anymore
I have MS, Cancer, Asthma & Cluster Headaches. None of which are curable I just have to live with them and would expect medics at the surgery to be understanding.
Just to humour me the senior partner came along and promised me she would take action and I needn't worry any more.
We had a nice chat and off she went. Though she had forgotten to ask me where I got the email I used to complain from. I had tried an alternative email that the Assistant PM had given me but both times my emails bounced back and I have the non delivery reports. Most likely no body bothers to read emails as they are only just in the process of perhaps, one hopes getting digitised and then may catch up where others in this are were in 2015. Then again they have staff who don鈥檛 quite follow the easiest of spoken English; although they are White snf from the UK. I believe it鈥檚 a lack of educating themselves on how professional adults converse. They can be as nice as pie and the next question asked will just turn this senior Receptionist! I have been absolutely terrified of calling a doctor, leaving a message and have on various occasions ended up going to A&E rather than call the practice.
I鈥檓 not mobile so that worked in my favour and when calling the GP I have on so many occasions over the past 5 years been thankful that I am too disabled to visit the doctor as I am house bound. Small mercies.
Any way as the Senior partner who is on Sabbatical yet still remains the accountable GP – the mind boggles. Wrote back to me as if butter wouldn鈥檛 melt in her mouth. I read most of the letter and just shredded the rest thinking all of it was going to be what she talked about. Having now had a copy of it I was right.
Then as she鈥檇 forgotten to ask the Practice Manager sent me a letter accusing me of withholding the email details, which I wasn鈥檛. I work full time, barely cope with Multiple Sclerosis when it鈥檚 at it鈥檚 best and my Ashthma has been playing up because I haven鈥檛 had a review in years. Yet when I raised this Partner no. 2 said he鈥檇 done one with me every year. I know that鈥檚 not true but the bunch of them just reel off anything at any given time. And intend to get the GMC to look into these Asthma reviews that these so called GPs have been carrying out because I have had enough.
The senior partner who visited me and lied in her letter as well- and asked who gave me the email address and as this was such a huge priority for partner 1,2 & 3 along with the so-called Practice Manager, so she had to be civil. I wasn鈥檛 aware of this and when I got a third exceptionally rude letter making subtle accusations I emailed back as I鈥檓 into sustainability. The Dr partners clearly don鈥檛 believe in sustainability so send letters, put stamps on and then stuff it in an envelope as well as the practice manager. Clearly they have no conscience and once they are gone do not care about the latter generations hence this wastage of paper, time, postage; money. They can just bill some more to NHS while it struggles and the rest of us try to save NHS wastage. Incidentally in contravention to the law they haven鈥檛 declared the average earning of the doctors. It will probably go online at the appropriate time, once the salaried doctor has been there long enough and the Senior partner can be sure her earnings will show to be depleted. Hence it will show a bit less, when it actually goes on the website. That鈥檚 what these partners are like.
So once I replied to the email and explained what had made me feel so terrible as I though the practice manager could coach or supervise her assistant. I also explained I鈥檇 got the address from the surgery from the practice manager.
I received another letter saying they are not keeping me registered any longer.
When I rang NHS England they spoke to the practice manager who lied and said I complain on almost a daily basis, and Partner no. 2 said when I complain the staff get distressed. The gentleman called me back to say I had a very strong case as I should have been given a minimum of 39 days notice, they had given 7 days from the date of the letter. And given up information without even verifying him as had a receptionist when he called to ask the notice period – the junior most receptionist was well aware of the situation, though she should not have been involved in the decision as the complaint was against the 2 junior and 1 senior receptionist/asst. PM.
They got every wrong in their enthusiasm to 鈥渢hrow me out鈥?which one of the receptionists informed my aunt who lives next door.
NHS England then informed me that I would be reinstated at that surgery without doubt by 30th January 2020 as they did not have a leg to stand on.
That鈥檚 when I withdrew my complaint as I can鈥檛 believe how relieved I felt at never ever having to see those racist (in my opinion) admin staff be they receptionists or practice managers/assistants.
Oddly Partner no. 2 actually turned up to at my home to take my blood pressure and temperature twice! Which makes me wonder what else was he鈥檚 been putting down as having completed reviews of.
I鈥檝e since only needed to visit A&E once for an issue bothering senior partner and no. 2 partner were full aware of but decided not to act on even after I approached them which makes it clear that the senior partner and the rest of her people were going to remove me even before she visited. Good for them. There鈥檚 no point going to NHS England because the end result is I鈥檇 have to go back.
On the other hand I personally think it鈥檚 best to just report the Dr鈥檚 to the GMC for their unprofessional behaviour and fake record keeping. And also go down the civil case route for the surgery as a unit.
Two of the partners aren鈥檛 white so Dr partner no. 2 said to me they weren鈥檛 racist to him… I cannot for the life of me think that anyone would be so naive; the partners pay those people鈥檚 salaries they gave those poorly educated people jobs of course they aren鈥檛 going to make it obvious! If you are looking for an honest practice where figures and reviews are not randomly made up….keep well away.
