Bristlecone Studio

As a writer and novelist, I've been advised, encouraged and even pushed over the years to develop a web site. It seemed a miserable chore for someone not versed in the technicalities of the Web and not much interested in them either.

"I have better things to do," I said. That's shorthand in my private language for: "I don't want to spend the time to learn and do what it would take for an attractive, easy-to-use and professional site. Neither do I want to spend the excessive dough it often costs for someone I probably won't like working with."

Content to ignore the necessity of a Web presence in today's book market, I forged on with my life's work, happily ignorant of the wonderful opportunities that were passing me by. Until one day I was no longer willing to accept the limitations I was putting on myself.

Enter Jennifer at Bristlecone Studios. One comfortable phone conversation started the process. I was told what a site could reasonably do for my work, what I needed to provide, and what I could expect, in detail, with no hidden costs or obligations. Simple, the way I like things.

Over the course of the next weeks, Jennifer studied my work and developed her own ideas about how best to present it. She provided me with variations and, once I had chosen one of them as my favorite, went to work on the nuts and bolts of the thing, leaving me to go on with my next book, which was a jealous thing and didn't care to take a back seat to web-building.

Here's the short and happy ending: I enjoyed every minute of working with Jennifer. I found her talented, insightful and meticulous. In today's business climate where we're lucky to get a human voice on the phone, her one-on-one, personal attention to my product was refreshing and effective. What's more, Bristlecone's services are competitively priced. Don't tell Jennifer, but I think I got more than my money's worth.
