Clutter

DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!

I was originally drawn to clutter because of the convenience and pricing – do not be fooled. Below is a summary of the problems we encountered.

– It took their movers 9.5 hours to move out of our tiny NYC apartment in which 85% of the items had been packed ourselves.
– I left a few appiances (kitchen aid, toaster etc….)for the movers to pack as I would assume they would be professionals. The mover tossed all of my appliances into the box upsidown, sideways without a single piece of bubble wrap. After mentioning my concern i was met with an eye roll and refusal to pack it properly. I took everything out of the box and re-wrapped it myself.
– Be aware that they will upgrade your storage plan probably costing you a few hundred extra a month
– They charge you $25 to pick the day you want your items to be returned!
– I had spoken to Clutter before my appointment and they assured me that they will prorate if i have my items delivered a few days into the next month. After my awful move I emailed with someone named Sirena who informed me that clutter doesn't prorate! I was furious and asked if they can listen to the recording where I was promised this prorate and was told by Sirena this was not possible. I thankfully had the idea to call and speak to someone else who told me that 2 weeks prior they changed their policy and that rest assured they can go back and listen to the recording where I was promised the prorate. Clearly Clutter (and Sirena) are unethical and liars.
– I thought I was done with Clutter once i had scheduled a move in date but no! Clutter refused to deliver items to my building (I was told of this 3 days before I was moving in) citing there could potentially be someone with Covid in the building. This is a 400 unit NYC apartment building and moving companies are an essential service! They were holding our stuff hostage and only until I reached out to the COO on LinkedIn did this get resolved.

THIS COMPANY IS ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS, NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU THINK YOU WILL SAVE IT IS NOT WORTH IT. BE WEARY OF SIRENA IF YOU ARE ALREADY STUCK WITH THIS UNETHICAL COMPANY.

I beg you for your own sake, PLEASE find another solution for your storage needs. They raise prices over and over again. I've been a client for under a year. They start by "beating every price" to "limitless dropoffs" to "Broken items" and claim no responsibility. Today, after waiting for an appointment, they pulled in across the street, but couldn't get out of the truck to go inside the building, charged me 100 cancellation fee, and then told me to reschedule again. Nobody answers the main number- I have seen better mom and pop storage operations. Avoid at all costs. stay away. Please, for your own sake, or they will take your things, take blurry pictures of your stuff, and then lie lie lie about how they will return it. Will continue to raise prices, and soon it will be cheaper to just throw your things in the garbage. But don't use clutter. Price hikes 100%, 200% and brazenly don't give a damn. They once left a crew at my place for a few hours, and they didn't remove a single item. This company has problems, and I feel bad for their investors who are going to lose their money.

UPDATE*** Clutter denied my claim of my lost items ($800 ish value), because they have "no evidence that we ever brought these items in". THATS THE DEFINITION OF LOSING MY ITEMS!!!

UNBELIEVABLE

Don't even think about using them.
Just find somebody else just anyone.

Bad customer service
Bad leadership
Bad lead drivers
Late arrival for pick ups
Cancellation of requests on due time
Lot's fees conditions and terms
Needs to improve a lot maybe changing old recruiting team staff would make it a better they only hired people inferior to them so they can keep their jobs like it is.

I cannot stress how UNBELIEVABLY TERRIBLE clutter is. If you value your sanity whatsoever- please do not even think about using them. Find just about anyone else.

First, customer service misled me about major terms and conditions, did not think it was important to tell me about hidden cancellation fees, and told me their movers don't disassemble furniture / break down furniture for the move after telling me they do disassemble just two weeks earlier.

Then customer service misled me about the time window that the movers would show up. Not only did they not show up within the time window, they cancelled on me after having me wait hours after the scheduled window. All of this was even though I spoke with customer service several times before the pick up to stress how important it was for me to vacate my building by the end of the pick up date day. Then they tried to reschedule me to a week later and had the audacity to tell me that i might still get charged a cancellation fee.

This was the WORST EXPERIENCE as customer that i have ever had in my 26 years of living on this planet. It can't begin to express how incredibly awful my experience with Clutter was.

Everyone that has a similar experience with Clutter should make a consumer complaint to the US Government – i think this is a systematic failure with the company and it seems like a lot of folks have had similar experiences.

When I arrived yesterday at 3pm to the Long Island City location with the movers and all my things packed in the truck I arrived to the wonderful surprise that there were no units available. Even though I had called to confirm a few days before and that same morning. There was one unit that might had become available but they had to fix the door since it was broken and they did not know how much time it would take or if it even could be fixed. Movers and myself were on as schedule so fortunately Public Storage was close by and I managed to book a storage room last minute successfully with them. Very unprofessional service!

They鈥檝e completely changed their model a few times. We鈥檝e agreed to a contract that has been wildly changed in their favor and now costs us an arm and a leg. There鈥檚 no good reason to use this company unless hate keeping your money.

It used to be such a lovely company, but I was shocked when they changed pick-up prices from 0 dollars to 49+ 9 dollars per each item. Such an elaboate scam. First get people hooked and then holding people`s stuff hostage. And during COVID… when a lot of people are in trouble. And not that their monthly prices are cheap.

Wow, Clutter must be removing bad reviews on Trustpilot somehow because a year ago, they had one star now they're at a whopping four stars…. unbelievable! Clutter is a startup that's trying to shake up the traditional storage industry. They are a horrible, unreliable, and unprofessional garbage of a "company" and they should not be in operation.

I was looking around for storage units in NYC to store some furniture from an apartment for a few months while it got renovated. Because of the low price and cute website, I decided to go with Clutter. Little did I know, they do not store your items into your own storage unit. Your belongings are wrapped up in saran wrap, bar coded, then placed into a huge warehouse along with hundreds or thousands of other customers' belongings!

The geniuses who helped packed my belongings at the apartment didn't bar code some items. When I flew from LA to NY to make the apartment habitable again after the renovation was completed, I only had one full day to do it. The night I landed in NY, I received a voicemail from Clutter saying they can't make the delivery of my items tomorrow and have to reschedule. I tried calling them and couldn't reach anyone until the next morning. They weren't able to find all of my items, that's why they wanted to reschedule. I literally flew to NY with just one day to do this then had my flight the day after, rescheduling wasn't an option. Luckily, Clutter "found" all my items and was able to deliver it. However, they were missing about half of my items like a bed frame, Apple TV, dining table, chairs, lamps, rugs, and a whole bunch of other furnishings!!! I ended spending A LOT time and money buying everything back for the apartment. On top of that, I was back in LA so I kept having to pester the apartment superintendent to help me with deliveries. The worst was with a bed frame because the boxes were huge. He was so kind to help me bring them up the apartment and let a handyman from Task Rabbit assemble it. I also kept pestering guests at the apartment to help with deliveries and setting things up.

I ended up filing a claim with Clutter to get compensation for losing all my belongings. THAT WAS ANOTHER HEADACHE.

Sometime after that whole fiasco in NY, Clutter reached out to tell me they found some of my items. I confirmed they were all mine but had no use for most of them since I had already replaced everything. There were a few items I wanted but they wanted to charge me for the delivery after they lost it in the first place. I just can't believe their audacity. I had to go back and forth over email and countless phone calls with regular customer services reps and managers to finally to get them to deliver it to the apartment for no charge. Why in the hell would I pay for delivery when they lost to begin with? They had their chance to deliver it the first time.

They also blocked me on social media because I would caution people against using their service. I hope my voice gets heard and will help save one least person from this incompetent company.

**Short version: RUN AWAY FROM CLUTTER AND STORE YOUR ITEMS IN A TRADITIONAL STORAGE UNIT BECAUSE CLUTTER WILL LOOSE ALL YOUR BELONGINGS AND PROVIDE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. YOU WILL WASTE A LOT OF TIME AND ENERGY DEALING WITH THEM. RUN!!!

Everything was going swell until… clutter changed our contract on us without even telling us, and now we鈥檙e having to look for a new storage plan. We signed a contract on the agreement that we would have one free pickup/delivery…. and now there is a $49 base fee +some per item 馃檮 anyways I guess this what we had heard about poor customer service and a start up trying to make up but forgetting about their customers. So we are leaving clutter to another more straight forward storage company.

They wanted to charge me $90/monthly for a 5 by 5 unit …. I had a suitcase and one trunk . Around this time last year I used a 5 by 5 unit and had twice as much stuff in it and was charged much cheaper. I will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN nor will I ever refer them .

READ THE FINE PRINT. $1000 COVERAGE THAT'S IT. Literally broke every piece of furniture from my daughter's bedroom. Anything over $1000 they give you $1 per pound the item weighs. They broke her bed, trundle, shelving unit, shoe rack and lost a box of stuff including ring floodlights. Then when I requested to get my stuff out of storage I had 92 boxes an electric reclining couch, a solid wood shelving unit (150lbs) and they send it all with 2 guys. I ended up having to help unload otherwise they would've been here all day. I gave two stars because the helpers were really nice and respectful.

STAY CLEAR OF CLUTTER
I have never written a negative review or filed a complaint with any agency regarding a business; however, this experience was beyond anything I could have imagined. When Clutter came to pick up my items almost 2 years ago, they did an excellent job. I was so impressed I referred several people to them. I requested certain items a few times and they delivered them on time and without any problems.
In January 2020 I requested that all of my belongings be returned to me. One of the two men that delivered the items went from being very kind and helpful to extremely rude and somewhat abusive within a moments time. I asked them to place the boxes against a wall with the labels showing so I would know what was in each box. Obviously, that was too much to ask as there were boxes everywhere.
He was going to leave my Chattam & Wells ($6000 to replace) mattress, box spring and frame against the wall which was wrapped in heavy duty plastic. I asked him to please place them on the frame for me and I thought he was going to lose it, telling me they do not do that. Seriously? I am a disabled senior.
When they left, the first thing I wanted to do was make the bed. I was mortified to find dust and filth covering the entire mattress as well as black marks and holes in the box spring, which they packed. The brand-new carpet in the bedroom was tracked with black footprints, several collector items were broken, the armoire was majorly scratched and the crown molding was broken ($2000 to replace). An irreplaceable Antique Glass and Metal Industrial Pendant Light Fixtures 24 x 24, (from, I think, The Brown Derby or somewhere similar no longer in business) which they packed was destroyed. Inside of probably 25% of the sealed boxes was disgusting dust and filth. The exterior of all the boxes were covered in filth. Among other items, I am missing a steam cleaner which they said was delivered and which was not, or I guess the steam cleaner decided to walk out of my place on its own.
Clutter had/has no regard for my belongings, neglected to provide clean, safe storage and hires incompetent people with a complete lack of customer service.
For all of this I was reimbursed $1106 which is completely unacceptable as this was due to their negligence and substandard storage facility.

From a very long distance Clutter helped me out of a difficult situation where I needed to remove some very sentimental items and have them stored. It was so easy and efficient. I can't thank them enough for helping me out!
