Cashpassport

Transferred money into card. Now can鈥檛 use it at an atm to get the money out. When I log in online I get to the landing page, see my account balance and then as soon as I click on anything to try transfer the money out it logs me straight out. Have phoned them and they asked to send in Id which was done. Now they are wanting more Id. I don鈥檛 know if I will be able to get my money out. A scam really.

Absolute useless garbage avoid avoid avoid. Had to show tons of ID to get cards for my travelling children who are minors. ONline registration did not work. Spent and hour on the phone. Cards still didn't work. My kids had to try and try, but ended up at school with no ability to buy soap or shampoo. No one at the post office really knew how the card worked, and sold me two cards when I could only have one account. Took hours trying to figure out why it wouldn't work just to find the telephone registration didn't really register the card. Hours of confusion and frustrations. Don't waste your time.

I was traveling to Europe in June 2019 and would be visiting several countries. I heard about the Mastercard Cash Passport you can purchase through Canada Post and thought it would be a good idea based on what I read. I went to Canada Post on May 7, 2019 and purchased the card and loaded some Euros and Canadian cash on it the same day. I thought I should test it out before I left Canada. I made a purchase at Reitman's (women's clothing store) in Canadian dollars in Canada and the card worked great.

On June 7, 2019 we landed in Greece and I began trying to use my card. I tried to make a purchase in a store and it would not work. In the days following I tried about 6 times to either make a purchase with the card or get cash at ATMs and the message always said "Denied at Source", or something very similar.

WHAT I DID NOT KNOW is that after I activated my card on May 7/19 and made a successful purchase in Canada on May 21/19, Cash Passport decided to deactivate my card and start an investigation about me. Investigating what? nobody knows!

I called them from Europe and was floored by the horrendous service. Before they would reactivate my card and give me access to my money they would require the following:
– Copy of my Canadian passport and Driver's licence
– Copy of a utility bill with my name and address on it
– Copy of my bank statement with my name and address on it
– Complete explanation as to why I purchased the Mastercard Cash Passport (their words: "What were you planning to do with the card?") — For this I said, "Well if I buy a coffee pot, it's safe to say I would be making coffee with it. So, you can guess that if I buy a prepaid credit card, I would be using it for shopping and spending money." How ridiculous!

Any time I asked why I was being investigated and why did they deactivate my card I was told that they cannot provide that info, and that there is a "back office" who wants this information about me. What?! Absolutely unbelievable.

Instead of spending half a day of my vacation trying to gather this info listed above (while in a remote location in southern Greece), I waited until I returned to Canada. On July 2, 2019, I called them again and they went through the same racket of them requiring the above list of info. I escalated this call to a supervisor who repeated the same foolishness and would not tell me why I am being investigated or why they have denied me access to my money to begin with.

So with them holding my money hostage, I had no choice but to gather up all the info they want and email it to them.
– On July 2, 2019 I submitted everything they asked for;
– On July 6, 2019 after speaking with the call center I re-submitted the same documents, plus they wanted another copy of my utility bill, as well as copies of transactions where I loaded funds onto the card on two separate occasions, May 20 and May 21;
– On July 10, 2019, I was told they have reactivated my card and I can now access my funds. But of course, no one emailed me or called me to tell me this. I only found out when I was making my usual call to them which I did every other day at least.

My Euros were absolutely useless to me at that point, as I was home from Europe and never got to use the prepaid card.

ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS SERVICE AND A USELESS PRODUCT, which did nothing but waste my money, and cause frustration and aggravation.

Rip off. Your lose money if dont top up. The cashout exchange rate is sooo much lower than the amount on the card. The exchange rate said we should get 拢840 and we actually got about 拢780 (from $1060USD) I would avoid this service!!! Also you can get 0% credit cards, i think from the Halifax.

(The Netherlands) Half of the transactions doesn't go through ( and this has been like this for 6+ years). In order to use that card you have to load 200 euro + 5 euro transaction costs first minimum (why is 200 euro's the mininum?) but okay, after not using the card for several years, I loaded some money on it for online shopping, and I get things like that my card isn't recognized. The website is also awful, you can't even log properly on, to actually see your balance, you need to call them first. Decided to withdraw my money back (if this card even works in the ATM), closing my account and opened a new creditcard at N26.

Total headache. Had this card for over a year. No issues. Used it a lot, had monthly pre-authorized coming out. All of a sudden, everytime I place an order online. The card gets flagged for "Suspicious activity" Call support they say "oh we will send an urgent email to have that taken care of. I use this card for the same four websites. 1 being a monthly subscriptions. Thats it and I dont deviate from those 4 and out of the blue BAM I would never recommend this card to anyone ever.

I wish I had read the reviews of this card. I loaded my card with AUD last year, didn't use them so tried this year to withdraw the cash via our local ATM,. Meantime my card had expired so that was not possible. I had to complete a form to have the funds transferred back into my savings account. I am still waiting for this to happen and have just phoned Cash Passport to see when I might expect the funds to appear back in my account. All the processing was completed, that is, the funds had been unloaded .from my Cash Passport on the 7th April. I was informed that it would take a further FOUR weeks for the funds to appear in my account. Well it is only the 27th April, 3 weeks later, I guess I can't expect too much!!!!!!!!! The question needs to be asked – is this company operating in the 21st Century!!!!!! They have had the use of my funds for over a year. How hard is it, now that all the checks have been done, to instantly transfer the funds. My local bank is able to instantly transfer funds!
I definitely WON'T be using this company again. I will just use my credit card in future – no hassles.

I can see by the reviews that I am not the only one who has had problems with this company – we got our card through Tesco Leicester and to be fair it worked ok the few times we used it in the USA but we were charged heavily for the use – our concern came today when we decided we possibly will not be going back to the USA for a couple of years so we asked for our money back but each time you talk to them they keep cutting you off then you have to spend another half hour trying to get back through to them only to find that because you did not use the card for 18 months they have charged you a wopping $52 ( plus 拢6 to terminate the card) this is daylight robbery as it does not tell you there is a fee for none use or we would have terminated it earlier – they know you are only going to use the card whilst on holiday so the rest of the time they are charging you for none use – beware DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY _ YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Shocking service. A Financial Ombudsman needs to investigate this service. It is a total waste of money. Doesn't do what it says it does. Had too many problems transferring funds. Worked once then it told me I had an invalid debit card number. There is nothing wrong with my debit card as per my bank, its cash passport that is at fault. Ended up just withdrawing funds from an ATM using my own local debit card. Extra funds for doing such.DO NOT USE CASH PASSPORT. Find something else instead of cash passport.

After I made a transfer from my bank account to Travelex Cash Passport, I got an e-mail to call customer service. They had to 'verify' the transfer. Three phone calls, a dozen e-mails and many months later my money is still not added to the card. The customer service is terrible, picking up the phone loudly laughing, then pretending not to hear you. In one occasion after 15 minutes of being put on hold, i was told to call back on another day. The 'my account'-website is a relic from the 90's, not at all useable on mobile. For the love of all that is holy, pick any prepaid credit card other than this. Following this horrible experience, I tried N26 and it was a breeze. Bonus: you get to keep your sanity.

Don't use this card. They started charging me 2 pounds per month after a few months as part of the "no card use fees" and when I complained, the answer was this is how it works.
The problem is I wasn't informed or alerted of any such fees on my application or at my email. It is only when I logged onto the application, I came to know about these fees. This is just a way to rip their customers. I don't recommend using this card, there are better and cheaper alternatives such as Revolt, Monzo and Starling bank.

Received a call from the Missouri, USA, re my complaint!! Useless. Whatever happened you to the customer is always right? No concern that I am out of pocket.
Would not recommend this card.

Do not use this card. Worst ever. Can鈥檛 reload or change email address. Spend hours on phone trying to resolve and get no where. If could leave a zero star rating I would

I have used these cards many, many years travelling to South Africa. This year has been an unmitigated disaster. Can't login to the website, can't reload, spend hours on the phone trying to resolve problems. I don't know what has happened but I will not be using these cards again and would strongly advice others to use a different card provider.

In January 2020, can't use anywhere online. Has problems on the website. Has very limited uses, is very inflexible. Can only use for in person purchases or to withdraw at the destination country. Can't send the money to anyone or use it to make any payments or purchases. High service fees. Doesn't help you save money and rather end up having to spend more than if had not used it. Have to lose money converting it back to previous currency in order to withdraw the money and will also charge a high fee at the same time.

I did not use the card for some time and they charged me 3.5usd per month I did not used it.

They took 31.4 usd from me.

These cards are suppose to save us money, but at the end they are super expensive. 31 usd pero 450 usd I exchanges, 10% !!!

Should I know it I had never buy it.

If I could leave a zero star rating I would. Used this card to pay a deposit when renting a car. It was paid back by the car hire company on the 26th of December. I am still waiting for this to be returned and showing in my balance. When reading the small print in their terms and conditions it does say they can take 30 days to process it. After speaking with their appalling CS … hours on the phone and sending emails they asked for with information from the car company saying they would not be taking the money.. they now refuse to give it back before the 30 days. It is pending in their account to give back to me! DO NOT USE THIS CARD. Revolut is a much better safer option

Absolutely dismal. Never get this card. You'd be better off carrying cash with you everywhere.

The website does not work, the app does not work, support, when you get through to them, know less than the average dog about customer service.

Is it possible to leave a 0-star review?

Disgusting.

DO NOT GET THIS CARD!!! I have a balance in USD and their website won't transfer it to EUR so that I can actually spend MY money! Meanwhile a fee is being deducted from the account for non-use which is supposed to be annually but they are now deducting monthly so I will end up with nothing as it's all fees.
Customer service are non-existent!!!!!!

If you want to waste your money by paying thieves go ahead and get this card. You are way better of using your credit or Debit card on holiday. Their rates are horrible compared to what you would get from your bank card. I absolutely regret even stepping foot in that Foreign Travel shop. I had saved up for a nice holiday now I鈥檓 just absolutely annoyed with the choice I made. You will end up out of pocket big time

DO NOT USE. Seems like a great idea but difficult to re-load the card with the correct overseas currency (despite following instructions to the letter they re-loaded my 鈥榟ome currency鈥?. I then had to battle with very poor customer services to get some compensation (they couldn鈥檛 solve the issue), wasting significant amounts of my time. Any money left on the card is charged a monthly 鈥榥on-use鈥?fee if you leave it too long, without notification. So I tried to transfer my money out, again following their instructions, but the transfer link kept returning me to the homepage. Phone call to customer services was poor – they just tried to take me thru the online route which wasn鈥檛 working and then hung up on me. Finally now I have a form to get my money back from the account. Not worth the huge hassle – just get a normal bank card with no overseas fees!

Would never venture with this card again. We had sufficient funds on our card, but out of nowhere we found a spurious pending payment on our statement. Which meant we could not get our card accepted for petrol somewhere in France. We sent a desperate email to the card support team, for immediate response. We heard nothing. In fact with all the emails we sent them, it was days before they replied and because of the data protection could not deal with issues over email. The land line telephone number for them, was never answered. The matter is still awaiting answers today. And as it happened the spurious pending payment, was just that. A week after returning home our account was credited the amount. To late for our holiday. Still no answers. Never again.

Used this card a couple of years ago for a long overseas trip and it was fine.
I'm planning another trip soon and just cannot access my account through any web browser now. Just says an error has occurred and to try again. Am really having second thoughts about topping up now if this is the best they can do.
Can only assume the thing's being running by a bunch of cowboys now.
