Carvana

The future of car buying is not Carvana. Carvana's verification process for down payment funds (my bank does not connect through plaid) and loan (since my loan is through a third party) is tedious and time consuming. The only reason I wanted to use Carvana was to avoid spending half a day or more dealing with high pressure sales people. Instead, over the span of a week I spent half a day or more in my office and on the phone dealing with Carvana's verification process. Be prepared for long wait times with Carvana's "advocates" and dropped calls. Carvana's process does not make life easier, it merely aggravates the car buying process. Do not recommend. Stick to your local dealer. Even assuming I can close my current deal I will not use Carvana again.

My husband found a car he liked on Carvana and paid a $100 deposit to "reserve" it. He was told they would bring the car to him for a test drive within 3 days. After 5 days he called and was told the car "has already been sold". Also, Carvana had been unable to supply pictures of the actual car supposedly for sale, which seemed very fishy. And the icing on the cake? Turns out the $100 was NON-REFUNDABLE, although it does NOT say that anywhere we could find. Run, do not walk away from Carvana.

After 3 months of buying this car, I still have no plates. With no idea of when it will arrive, there is a good possibility it may never arrive. Carvana makes you sign an agreement so that you cannot sue them even if they sell you a car you can never drive. It's all a great big corporate con!

I recently purchased my second vehicle from Carvana and it has been a huge hassle. I purchased the first vehicle from them in 2019. The purchase and delivery process went smoothly overall. I did have to send in the signed contracts 3x because they kept claiming they didn't receive them (although I also signed them in person upon delivery). That was annoying but overall just a small hassle. However it was a sign of things to come.

I paid my money and had my car but then the issues began. I was on the phone or chat with them constantly trying to get the registration accomplished. The reps I spoke with were totally confused and every single one gave me different information about what paperwork they still needed and what was delaying the process. My temp tags expired and I called them in a panic multiple times and they finally extended it another month. Finally I got my plates and registration documents. It was a hassle but I figured maybe it was a glitch.
Nope.

I recommended Carvana to my mom and she bought a car from them too at the end of 2019. Multiple hassles, like the delivery guy didn't show for weeks and then suddenly appeared one day without any notice.

Fast forward to today. I purchased a car Aug 1 2020. They took my money and delivered the car, that part went seamlessly. Since then it has been an absolute nightmare. I have literally spent all day on hold multiple times. ALL DAY. 8 hours and no answer. No callback on their automated system. There is no other number to call. I dread calling them because I know it will be an all day event. Every rep I speak with has a different story, a different claim. I have to push them to look deeper and then they always ask for different paperwork or to send the same paperwork multiple times. My registration paperwork has still not even been sent in to the DMV and it has been 2 months. My temp tags expired long ago and they say I have to deal with it myself. But I cannot because I don't have TITLE and they haven't sent in my registration paperwork so the DMV doesn't know it is "in process" and won't issue temp tags to me. But they simply refuse to help. The reps just repeat a canned response something about Covid causing delays at the DMV. But they haven't even sent my paperwork in so how can that be the problem?

Overall, the car buying process is pretty good as far as getting a decent car for a decent price, delivered to your house. I love that part. Yes both cars I received have had small issues as well. Last time I tried to get them to pay for repairs, this time I just threw up my hands because I simply can't be on hold on the phone even more hours.

By the way with both purchases when I went to the DMV and told them what Carvana was requesting they told me all these things should be handled by the dealer/seller. VIN inspection, SMOG, etc etc all should be done prior to sale. And. Beware, look at the contract because yes, Carvana charged me for those things and didn't do them.

I wonder if I will ever get my tags and title?

Overall, I would recommend Carvana if you want a car that you can't legally drive and you love being on the phone for months with multiple people who give you the runaround. Caveat emptor.

They are great at selling but there is NO support. Bought my truck June 4 and waited 3 weeks with no ship date. After leaving bad reviews they called and said it would ship the next day. They called 20 min later and said they had dented it. Another week and half and it finally shipped. The temp plate they sent me expired soon after I got the truck and now I cant use it. Nobody at carvana knows where my plates are. Unbelievable they are still in business. Save yourself the headaches and go see a dealer, they know what they are doing.

My wife and I are very happy with our experience with Carvana, Jose who delivered our car was extremely helpful and answered all our questions. I would highly recommend Carvana to friends and family members when they are looking to buy a car.

Extreme mixed emotions about this deal鈥?customer service is only good if you don鈥檛 actually need any service or assistance. Once you need assistance, you get a run around. Car seems to be okay so far 鈥?small plastic piece underneath the hood of car, damaged 鈥榠n transit鈥?which seems like BS and the Silverrock they deal with for repairs SUCK! I would give them them negative stars if I could.

My experience with Carvana was terrible. The initial purchase went ok thanks to my credit union providing excellent customer service. Be prepared to upload documents several times, sign digital copies of contracts and documents several times as they make corrections, and hope you have a bank that is easy to communicate with and provides excellent service.

The real problems will come when you try to get your car. If you are outside their delivery area, you will have to pay $399 for delivery. If you opt to meet them inside a delivery area, you don鈥檛 have to pay the fee. Since I was an hour and a half from their delivery area, I opted to meet them and save $399. My first delivery date was set, then at the last minute, they canceled because the driver didn鈥檛 show up. They were unable to find a driver who could get the car to me in less than a week. If it had not been for the fact my wife was working from home and didn鈥檛 have an immediate need for a car, I would have canceled right then. Red flags had already been present throughout the process, but the car was what we wanted, so I stuck with it. I should not have.

I rescheduled pick up for a week later. I was told to be at the agreed Location, a Home Depot in Oakland, Ca, at 1:00 pm. The drive is a three hour, 150 miles round trip for us. My son and I took part of the day off to pick up the car. We arrived at the Home Depot ten minutes early. Forty-five minutes later, no car. This Location, suggested by Carvana, was in a rundown area of Oakland surrounded by homeless encampments. The Home Depot lot had four security guards out front, and two Oakland PD cars parked there the entire time. I never received a call or text from Carvana, and their app showing delivery status was not working. I called them, and after waiting almost 40 minutes on hold, I was told the delivery driver had called in sick, and they were trying to find a replacement! They told me someone would call me in 15 minutes. About 15 minutes later, I got a call from a driver who said he would be there in about 35 minutes. The driver did show up 35 minutes later. I had now been sitting in the parking lot of a sketchy area for two and a half hours. My son and I had also lost the whole workday at this point.

To his credit, the driver was fantastic. Once he arrived, I inspected and drove the car, signed the paperwork, and got out of there. The car was as promised, so we are going to keep it. The driver told me that he was going to talk to his managers about doing something to make things right because of what happened. Never heard a word from Carvana. They also did not include the $50 gift card they promised because I drove to pick the car up instead of having it delivered. Yes, the car was dirty and needed to be cleaned. When I asked for the $50 card, they refused. Do not use this company.

I purchased a vehicle from Carvana on January 29, 2017 and was provided a clean Carfax report without any accidents or other damage. In December 2019 I decided to trade in this car and purchased a Carfax report to verify the Carfax report provided me by Carvana on January 29, 2017. I was shocked to see that Carfax had added a "Damage Report" dated 9/27/2016 or 4 months before I purchased the car from Carvana. In other words Carvana had sold me a damaged car. I contacted Carvana and sent them the copy of the Carfax report with the 9/27/2016 "Damage Report". Carvana's response was to offer me an amount $3000.00 less than the KBB average trade in value for the car without this late inserted "Damage Report". This was a high performance luxury car that Caravan had priced accordingly. My recommendation to anyone is to stay away from Carvana. They cannot be trusted to stand by their cars. I'm sure that if I had bought this car from a local dealership I would have been treated more fairly. NEVER BUY A CAR FROM CARVANA.

Excellent service during all points of this transaction. The entire process including delivery of the vehicle took less than 30 minutes. The contactless delivery was executed flawlessly. All staff I worked with were very professional and efficient. The delivery agent was especially helpful

Firstly I am the current owner of a Carvana vehicle. Told everyone from friends and family how quick, easy and painless the process was. When it came time for my wife to purchase a newer vehicle I talked her into going the Carvana route. The two experiences could not have been more different. Vehicle was missed represented on their web site, both in the description and using the filter. Vehicle was listed as 3rd row seating, it was delivered on time but missing the listed 3rd row. The Carvana representative that delivered the vehicle reassured us that Carvana would make it right, which I believed as my past experience was positive. As this vehicle is on a universal frame that already has the bolt pattern for the third row installed we offered to pay for a mechanic to install it if they would pay the 300 dollars for the seat and bracket. After a few phone calls and a lot of lip service they did offer a 100 dollars for the inconvenience. I have already paid the prorate on my 6 month insurance policy, as directed to do for the drop off, so keeping the vehicle is in my best interest also. They will have to pay for the pick up and delivery of another vehicle or to get our trade in back to us. This is another problem with their business model, along with others list on the BBB, it's more expensive to keep transporting vehicles back and forth than the cost of an advantages solution for both parties. I as well as most people would be fired form my job for not taking the cheaper option for my company and keeping the client happy. So I echo what a lot of these reviewers have said byer beware. If you want to be lied to and play bait and switch games stick to the old buy here pay here lots at least you can see the vehicle before you buy it or pay to switch insurance on it. Expected more from this company, you have lost yet another retuning customer over a minor fix. Keep up the good work Carvana.

I have bought a few cars through the years, but this was the easiest process ever. They work with you and make sure that you are comfortable and understand everything in the process. They work with you to get what you are looking for. Customer service is amazing. And when my car got delivered by Jonathan, he made the process so easy. He was very professional, educated and very respectful. I have already recommended Carvana to family and friends.

This was the best car buying and car trade in experience I have ever had! The website process was easy to understand and use. Along with the process at time of car pick up. I loved dropping the token in and watching my car come down!

After finding the vehicle I wanted on line, it had to be transported from Arizona to Charlotte, NC which included a $200 transport fee. The customer advocate who I spoke with informed me of the referral program which earned a $500 credit from a previous Carvana buyer.
My neighbor, who had previously purchased a Carvana vehicle, provided me a referral code earning him $100 check in addition to my $500 credit. The vehicle was delivered to my house as scheduled. I took the vehicle to my local Toyota dealership for inspection where a new battery, cabin air filter, engine air filter where installed along with tire rotation & balance plus a front end alignment, all under the Silver Rock warranty; no questions asked and no deductible charge added. This was an absolutely fabulous experience!

I finally gave into looking at Carvana.com after seeing their commercial for the hundredth time. I had an awful experience at Flow Volkswagen of Greensboro – shady salesman, pressured you into purchasing, and you had to purchase the warranties. Local used car dealerships had seriously overpriced cars, which usually had more than a hundred thousand miles on the odometer. Carvana was a breath of fresh air. It was fun, I could take a detailed tour of the cars I liked, and could compare vehicles to see which had the amenities I preferred. They also allowed you to choose your monthly bill rate and the duration of the contract. What really sets Carvana above the other dealerships is the Carvana mechanic found imperfections and damage to my roof which was repaired at no cost to me. They also repaired all the little scratches and dings. The fact that they did a second walk around and inspection before delivery says a lot about this company. They pay special attention to detail, and I couldn't of asked for anything better.

Everyone i dealt with was very pleasant and the gentleman that delivered my new vehicle and picked up my trade-in was very professional and informative. I didnt want to deal with salesmen and haggling, and i didnt have to. Thanks carvana.

We purchased a 2016 BMW 328i from Carvana. After test driving the car, we decided to take it for the 7 day test drive. During that 7 days, we discovered that the car had 2 run flat tires on the rear of the car and 2 traditional tires on the front. BMW 3 series are supposed to have all runflats. BMW does not include a spare tire or a way to bolt down a spare tire for traditional tires. We figured that Carvana was unaware that the car they were selling us came equipped with the incorrect tires. I called and spoke to Brenda at customer service but she wasn鈥檛 able to help. I asked to speak to a manager. We received a call back from manager Si (spelling? She pronounced her name like 鈥渟igh鈥?. Si was extremely rude and unprofessional. Her response was 鈥渏ust because you want new tires doesn鈥檛 mean you are getting new tires鈥?and 鈥測ou bought a USED car. You are expecting too much鈥? I attempted to explain that we just wanted the correct tires on the car. I have never in my life encountered such a poor attitude from a person who is supposed to be providing customer service. I would think that Carvana realizes that they sell PREOWNED (not used. That has a negative connotation) cars and that they should sell them with the correct tires. Si (the manager we spoke to) said that all calls are recorded for customer service purposes. I hope that Carvana goes back and reviews the call that we had with Si. The level of customer service she provided was abysmal and she was incredibly rude and insulting.
My husband tweeted about the issue that we were having. After much back and forth in twitter dms, Carvana agreed to reimburse us for the correct tires. We had the run flats placed on the front of the car yesterday and submitted the paid invoice to Carvana. We are waiting to hear back about the status.
We had looked forward to purchasing from Carvana because it seemed like a fun and easy way to purchase a preowned car. Unfortunately that was not our experience.

I see nothing has changed with them. I was approved to get a car from Carvana using their finance. I was very excited. I had even picked out my car and was excited about going to the vending machine. However after getting the run around from Carvana's reps and underwriters, I decided to just cancel the transaction.

Now I have my own financing and I was thinking about getting a car from them again. Thinking it might be easier this time, since I already have financing lined up. However, after reading all of these reviews, I see that things have gotten even worse with Carvana.

So I decided that I will just go to a local dealership to avoid the headache. If after reading these reviews you decide that you are still going to get a car from them you need to do a few things to protect yourself. This applies whether you buy your car from Carvana or any other dealership.

1-Choose your car carefully- I don't care how nice the pictures look. They buy a lot of these cars from auction (cheap) and a lot of their cars come from flood prone areas. Do not choose a car from one of these areas.

2- If there are open recalls on the car, and many of the cars do have them. Do not choose that car.

3- Look carefully at the maintenance logs on carfax. Sometimes something that was done to the car in the maintenance logs will give you a hint at if the car had issues or was in an accident or not. Google is your friend. Also keep in mind sometimes accidents do not get reported until later on or if at all on carfax. When you get the car if it looks like it has been in an accident it probably has been.

4- They make you sign a no sue arbitration clause when you buy your car. Make sure that you opt out of this stupid clause, so that when (not if) you realize that they sold you a lemon, you can sue them or join in a class action lawsuit against them. FYI-You need to opt out in writing.

5-Shop around. Most of their cars are way, way overpriced. Even for the older models. As an example, I saw a 2015 Nissan Versa on Carvana's website for around $11,000. Yet on another website of a local dealer I saw a 2018 versa for under $9,000. There are better deals to be had if you take the time to look.

Finally, I am reading all of these bad experiences and I do think its important to warn others. However, it is also important to let the powers that be know what is going on so that they can investigate and take action. So please make sure to share your experiences with the Federal trade commission, the Arizona State Attorney Generals office and your local Attorney Generals Office, so that they can investigate and take action if necessary.

This was the easiest car buying experience ever. I can鈥檛 imagine myself doing it any other way ever again. The hardest part was waiting to pick it up. Would have been 5 stars if the vehicle had been detailed and didn鈥檛 look like it was driven on a dirt road. I especially like the fact that you can get your old car back if you decide to return it…not like CarMax who keeps your car and ships it away immediately. Im confident that I won鈥檛 have to. The Vending machine was kinda anticlimactic though, but you do keep the coin. Nathan at the Charlotte NC store was great.
