Purchasing the type and color of desired flooring for your home should be a snap. Wrong, for us it was a kabuki dance.
Existing colors in our home (walls, furniture, cabinet tops, etc.) require new flooring to be in the same color family of our existing carpet. We took samples of our existing carpet and started searching before the end of summer 2016. Our goal was new flooring for Christmas. After visiting stores in our area and searching web sites, Carpet One is the only company that offers carpet within our desired color range. We purchased from the Carpet One store in North Richland Hills, Texas.
On 11/16/17 we walked into the Carpet One store in North Richland Hills for the first time and were shocked by the cramped and disarray appearance. However, the sales person, Mike Puente, knew how to navigate through the mess. Mike鈥檚 help, knowledge, and demeanor is unsurpassed. Without Mike we would have not traded with Carpet One.
Carpet samples within our color family had to be ordered because there were none in the store. We did select the linoleum for our kitchen and bathrooms. The next day, 11/17/16, Carpet One鈥檚 Rusty came to our home and measured.
By 11/21/16 the first carpet samples had arrived but were the wrong color. Also on 11/21/16 we finalized the order for the linoleum and paid up front in full. After a couple of days, Mike called and told us that that all the linoleum we ordered from the samples in the store had been discontinued since 2014. The agent representing the linoleum manufacturers had failed to inform the North Richland Hills Carpet One store and provide current samples. We put the linoleum job on hold until current samples arrived.
The new linoleum samples arrived at the store and on 12/14/16 we made our selections. Second choice of any anything never seems as satisfying as one imagines the original choice would have been. A few days later the linoleum arrived and Carpet One installers called to set an install date. Since Carpet One does not reset toilets I had to schedule a plumber. The holiday season was in full swing and to schedule a plumber to accomplish the job before New Years Day was a challenge and took a couple of days. I scheduled a plumber for 12/27/16. On 12/20/16 I called Carpet One install department and was told that they would not be able to install our linoleum on that day. I told the install department that the job must be done on 12/27/16 or never! The lady told me to call my salesperson. I called Mike and he was able to get the job done on 12/27/16.
The carpet samples finally arrived. All were in our color family, none exactly right, but one was close enough. Therefore, on 1/24/17 we finalized our carpet order. Carpet arrived and was installed on 3/15/17. During carpet instulation the door to our hot warer closet was severly damaged. In addition the metal trim separating carpet and linoleum was badly dented and looked horrible. When the carpet installers were walking out the door they handed me two small pieces of wood trim that they had removed. After they left I went out to put away the requested reminant and there was none.
Agin I called Mike and reported no reminant, the door damage, the metal trim appearance, and the wood trim. In addition we emailed photos. On 3/29/17 Mike came to our home and inspected the damage. Mike made a satisfactory settlement for the hot water closet door and we agreed to locate a handyman and get the door and wood trim fixed. Next Carpet One's install department called and we scheduled 4/18/17 to repair what I thought would be the metal trim. In the meantime we got the door and wood trim fixed. On 4/18/17 Carpet One's repainman arrived to fix the wood trim???? Once again I called Mike, the metal trim repair was scheduled and accomplished on 4/21/17. The metal trim was repaired by using the correct tool and pounding away the dents. The metal trim repair, while not pristine, is acceptable. Mike ordered a carpet reminant, same color and dye vat.
Mike Puente earned many accolades and at least eight stars, He worked with us every step of the way and rapidly solved the many problems that were encountered.
After adjustment for the door damage the cost of the linoleum and carpet was $6243.05. And we were very very tired of kabuki dancing.

From the beginning, they explained the differences in the carpet options and the padding options very understandably. They provided a good bargain. They provided measurement and installation services timely. Then afterward, they followed up to make sure there were no problems. I would buy from them again in a heartbeat.
