I can't believe they are still trading. They took my deposit and wouldn't give it back. My credit card company had to claim it back for me. The drop off was a nightmare, nobody there to take the car and I ended up being late checking in. Awful company.

We rented a people carrier (online booking) from Thrifty near Manchester Airport; paying extra for Air Conditioning and comfort options etc. After nearly 30 hours travelling from Australia, exhausted, we were given what can only be described as a white workman鈥檚 van with no suspension or AC. We tried to swap it, but they said they had nothing else at present but to call next day or so. Calls led to nothing – all vehicles in use. Sweltering summer in UK (climate change?) and we had lots of driving and visiting to do. Horribly uncomfortable. After getting back to Australia we complained to company saying we didn鈥檛 get what we paid for, and should get some form of refund – but they weren鈥檛 interested and just said no. Won鈥檛 use Thrifty ever again and we tell everyone to avoid them. Zero customer service.

This same company has been scamming customers for the past ten years that I know of, as soon as you get scammed by them and believe me they use all sorts of excuses while at the same time promising that they will deal with your complaint.( and never doing anything ). Don't waste time go direct to your credit card company and request claw back. Use screen shot photos as evidence. You can also direct your bank to this site so that they can read the complaints for themselves

When you first complain to CAR HIRE UK about them withholding your money they promise to deal with it and that your money will be returned to your account, the trouble is it never returned and they have drawn it out so long that you get disheartened to use the claw back system through your credit card because Its so long. So get your finger out and go to you credit card as soon as you possibly can with your evidence it's the only way that you will get your money back from this company.

Hired a car from them, car was parked at long term parking. Car was a 10 years old , high Mileage & no fuel in the tank. Left the car at the parking, had to go next door to hire a car from hertz. Never got a refund.
Rather go to a reputable company, not worth the saving that you think you are getting.

They not bad extremely bad. We hired a car from them but no details exchanged only online. They dont help in a case of accident even if the fault was the third party in fact they will charge you after you return the car then threaten you to pay and also blame you.
They gave us a cheap very very old model car and they parked the car at the airport and make you pay the the parking fees ours was 拢35!

I had a very bad experience with the above booking and would like some compensation and refund of money taken from me under false pretences -in reality stolen.
I was lucky in that my flight arrived ahead of schedule and the luggage came straight away. Your very efficient shuttle took me to your office. I was then told I was 45 minutes early and could not have the car until the time I had put on my booking. Surprise, surprise, -if I paid about 150鈧?extra I could have it straight away! We said we would wait. When the due time came there was a long queue and it was another 30 minutes before our turn came.
I had all the correct documents, including the credit card in my name which I had used when booking. When the card was inserted it was said to be faulty in that the chip was damaged. The card would in fact swipe or scan effectively but I was told -surprise, surprise, that their machine only accepted chip transactions. As I said I did note your stipulation that a card in my name must be tendered. It did not say cards which would only swipe were NBG. The card in my name would have allowed you to take all the payment required to cover he excess. I used the card without problem all through my holiday with the swipe and scan facility. (I have an annual personal insurance to cover all of the excess on the many cars I hire each year). I also had with me an absolutely identical card, same account and number with my wife鈥檚 name. This worked perfectly and would have allowed you to take payment from my account!
I was then told I could have neither the car or a refund of the hire of EUR 164.56. I would have to try to continue our holiday by bus, train or on foot.
Then again, surprise, surprise 鈥?once again very convenient for Goldcar, my wife鈥檚 card would suddenly become acceptable if I paid an excess waiver of 221.95鈧?(said to have been discounted as a favour!)
This is very sharp practice -you use every trick possible to get extra cash. It may seem to be within your terms but it totally disregards any reasonable approach to help a holiday maker with a problem. It is quite clear my payments could have easily have been accessed from my account.

I would like an apology and refund of 221.95 鈧?straight away. If not, I feel I will have a duty to warn others on review websites of the peril of using Goldcar and if necessary, to take legal action.
If you settle tis amicably I am pleased to say the car and all other aspects of Goldcar service were good.
I will take no further action for the next 10 days and await your response.

I hired a car from Luton airport. My flight was late but I was there that day about 3 hours late only to be told that the hire fee form Truspilot was non compliant ( 511.00 AU) and that I had to pay the full amount. I am taking this matter further and have been advised form the car hire people never to go through a third party especially Truspilot

Please please what ever you do don't book a car from this company it took me months to get my deposit back after sending e-mail's daily don't bother with customer help line because they just tell you a load of lies.

The whole experience was completely amateurish! The drop-off in the airport was late, to start with and we had to pay 9拢 to leave the airport parking lot. After returning the car at the airport we called the collection number, but no one answered 鈥?so we had to leave and voicemail and the keys at in the window. When we got home we should get the deposit within 21 WORKDAYS, but it took much longer than that (more like 35-40 work days), and we cancelled a childseat and extra driver before we collected the car 鈥?But we ended up paying for it, because Car Hire-UK made up a parking ticket 鈥?saying it was parked 19 minutes to EARLY at the airport (longstay) with three hours free parking. I have given up on the fight to get my last 53拢, which they still owe me.
NEVER USE THIS SCAM CAR RENTAL SERVICE!
So in total they owe me 61拢…….!

Yes, the car rental was cheap but otherwise there are SO many issues concerning renting a vehicle from them that I suggest that NO ONE does so !
The worst thing in my case is that I haven't had my deposited money back even though it should have reached my bank account more than 2 weeks ago! Customer "services" do not answer my e-mails, the 24/7 support chatroom is not 24/7 after all and refer you to customer services ! When phoning them they tell me that the money has been sent to my bank and will be at my disposal in a few days ! When I ask for confirmation by e-mail they say, they will see to that but they do not do so ! Complaints should be sent by e-mail to Customer services…..and Customer Services do not respond !
