Canadian Fares

Do not use this company under any circumstances.
My boyfriend and I booked tickets to Thailand this past spring. No e-tickets were issued even though we contacted them countless times to get everything sorted out. Their customer service is absolutely horrible and they make no effort to help people out.

We ended up buying tickets through a travel agent as Canadian Fares never took responsibility for their mistakes and kept on apologizing without providing an actual solution.

No e-tickets issued, no responses, wasted hours on the phone. This company is a huge scam and should be investigated as they are obviously trying to make money off people. I have never gone under so much stress booking tickets.

Stay away, you're better off spending a bit more money and going through a travel agent or an actual airline website.

SCARY!!!
I have booked a trip for my mom from Calgary to Vietnam this November coming up, but last month my Granpa was so sick back home. I tried to contact them to change the date but I could not find them. I ended up buying a brand new ticket for my mom to go home see my Granpa. From Aug 20 until now, I sent them a few emails and call them many times but get nothing back from them. They disappear somewhere I could not find them.
Now I wish to cancel the ticket but do not know how to.

Don't ever use this company. This is the most frustrating company ever. They don't reply emails and the calls are redirected to voicemail. The same thing people said about them is true. As it is now, i am yet to get refund for my cancellation even though i was told its 9 business days. its about two weeks now. I canceled my booking with them because delta air said i have no ticket issued.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

The worst and most stressful experience I've had with a travel company.
I purchased my flight ticket to Europe 4 months ago. They never issued my e ticket. Only after contacting TICO I was able to get a refund. This is all happening 3 days before I am to arrive at a pre-paid hotel in Amsterdam. I had to re-purchase the ticket at a premium. I wished I had come across these reviews before booking.

This company is a SCAMMER. In reading the many negative experiences from travelers I am puzzled as to why this company is not shut down. This company has very questionable and fraudulent business practice. So consumers beware.

Consumers should be better protected against fraudulent businesses like canadianfares. The authorities should step in.

The worse I鈥檝e ever encountered!! Booked ticket in February. Received mail but they never issued the ticket. After a week of attempts to reach them, impossibly. Avoid at all cost.
Someone should report this company to the authorities.

I'll join the choir here and say, do NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I bought my ticket last year in November, 2017, and they charged me DOUBLE. I wrote them about 2 weeks after when I realized this, and they said they'd get in contact with their accounting department. I wrote them the next day, prompting them for an update, but received nothing. Called them after the weekend and got a man on the phone with poor English who told me they'd contact the accounting department (as if they hadn't already??), and absolutely no apology, no nothing. They told me they'd call me back before 5pm, which they did not. Next day, I called them again, wanting an update. They said the accounting department was looking into it, and they'd call me back before 5. They didn't. I then wrote them an email, saying they should let their customer know what's going on, and that it's a very large amount of money to have charged me twice with. I heard nothing. I called them again… they told me the money would be refunded within 3 days, I said okay. Still absolute NO apologies, and no reply to my second email either. Called them 3 days later when I still hadn't received the money, apparently they THEN saw my e-mail while on the phone, and I was told they'd speak to the accounting department and get back to me. They didn't. Called Saturday after having received no calls, but couldn't get through, even though they were supposed to be open. It kept saying the line was overwhelmed with customer calls, but I'm pretty sure that was fake. So, I got in contact with my bank and filed a complaint to get my money back. I also called Delta, BECAUSE on my bank account it said they were the ones who had charged me with the second amount. That wasn't true, it was Canadianfares, under false name, who had charged the second amount. So Delta couldn't help me. I contacted Momondo to let them know Canadianfares is a scam company and that they wouldn't get back to me. They got in contact with the contact person at Canadianfares, who wrote Momondo back almost immediately, apologizing profusely and saying the customer service hadn't been acceptable and they were very sorry. They never wrote or called me personally to apologize. They assured me I'd receive my money soon. On the Monday, Canadianfares sent me a scan of a real life receipt of the money. A couple of days later, I finally received the money back, no response, no nothing. So at least there's that, after much trouble and stress, I did get my money back. Then about a few weeks later, I received a fake email that said it was from them and who wanted me to "validate" my information and my ticket (even though I had already used my ticket at the time?), but if you clicked reply, the email changed to "canadianfairies.com", so obviously not them. But they knew my name and that I'd bought from Canadianfares, so seemed like Canadianfares also has a trojan/virus issue or some such thing.. I wrote to Canadianfares to tell them of this fake phishing email, and asked them to please confirm, which they did not. I never heard from them again. So yeah, DON'T buy from them. They're absolutely unreliable, they charge double money under false name, they don't get back to you, they don't apologize, they only get their crap straight when Momondo gets involved and they know the source of their scams might be cut off. I'm lucky I even actually received a ticket and that they didn't cancel or mess with it. I was really scared, to the point I still remember every detail of this exchange. Momondo should seriously stop working with them.

Worst Customer Service. Will not return calls, will not pick up phone, will not respond to emails.

Their website says theyre open until 6pm but when I called the VM said they were closed. It was only 5:15pm.

I was charged more than what was in the total.

Will "NEVER" book with them again.

This company is a scam. I don't think anyone actually gets a plane ticket from them. They just take your money and leave you broke and with no tickets! How is this company able to keep operating?

I ordered 2 tickets to Portugal for my honeymoon and two months later still no tickets and horrible customer service. I called many times and emailed to ask for a refund and have never seen my money back!

Please someone SHUT DOWN THIS COMPANY! This is illegal to sell a product and not deliver what is promised. This is called fraud!

I booked my and my wife tickets to Paris on January 29th and was supposed to fly on March 30th. I received a booking ref and they withdraw my money from my credit card ($1854 for 2 tickets) on the booking day but no e-tickets. Called in February to request my e-tickets and they said they would send it to me not long before my flight. 3 weeks before my flight, they send me an email telling me that they put me on another flight because of my current airline cancellation. This was okey with me as I was given the same dates a no extra cost but even for that new flight, they didn't provide any e-tickets.

One day before my flight, on March 29th, I call the customer service to ask them to send me my e-tickets. That's where all the fun started. The customer service representative told me that the airline doesn't provide e-tickets to them (candianfares) and therefore they have to refund full price + 200$. At this point I'm so frustrated that they didn't call me in advance to tell me that and that I had to learn it myself by calling them the day before my flight. I tell the representative that I bought my tickets at a price of $927 per ticket ($1854 for 2 tickets) and that now (March 29th) each ticket cost at least $2000. I said to him if he wants to refund me, he would need to refund me my tickets + the difference on what I need to buy new tickets or find me a new flight for the same dates (Dates were not flexible as I had booked hotels, train tickets between different cities in France and + 2 other flight tickets to travel to Belarus and back to Paris). He asked me to give him 15 minutes so he can look for new tickets for my dates and he would call back. I said ok.
While I waited, I went on their website and saw that they still had many flights still available for my dates that went to Paris. An hour passed and I still didn't get a call back so I called them myself. The representative told me that there are no more tickets available for my dates. I answered him that this is not true as their web site had lots of them but, of course much more expensive because it was last minute. I told him to give me those tickets and the representative said that he has to ask his supervisor. I told him to transfer me to his supervisor instead so I can talk to him directly. The representative told me that he was busy and he will call me back in 15 minutes. I said ok even if I was not sure that I will get a call back but, he did call me back but, an hour later. He told me the same story that there are no more tickets available. I said that this is not true, that they still have the tickets on their website but at double the price and I told him to give it to me. He said that he cannot and that he will refund me my initial booking + $200. I said no way. Told him to do the right thing and give me my flights or refund me 4000$ so I can book my tickets myself. He told me that he will try to do something and he will call me back.

Just so you know, I leave in Vancouver, and canadianfares are based in Ontario and we have 3 times zones between us. So I didn't get call back from the supervisor withing 15 minutes. When I called back in an hour, it was just passed 2pm in Vancouver, the automatic message said call withing the working hours. It was already 5pm in Ontario and my issue was not solved. The customer service just wasted my time till the end of their working day to not deal with me and it didn't matter to them that I had a flight the next day. I got also an email just few minutes past 2pm (Vancouver time) that they are unable to give me my requested tickets and they will refund me.

Their website says that they are working 24/7 so I replied to that email stating that I don't want the refund but, my flight tickets for my dates. Few hours later, I got a reply from customer service saying this:

Hello

Why did you use very bad words in your email to [email protected] We are trying our best we clearly told you that system got hacked and reservation got cancelled and we are promised to give you the full refund plus $ 200. We are trying our best to get you some options but now we are refunding the funds back to your card.

Thanks And Regards
Customer Service
CanadianFares Inc

It is hard to believe but, during all the conversations I had with the customer service during the day, I didn't use any single bad word and was very polite. I never sent a single message to [email protected] as well. So this message did not make any sens to me and the hacking thing was the first time I was hearing about. Clearly the customer service was just finding an excuse to end dealing with me.

At this point I had enough and sent some messages to request mangers and owner contact information that of course did not get. I also asked for refund.

I went forward and booked myself new tickets on another website and paid the double of the initial price. The next day, before my flight, I received an email from canadianfares showing a picture of a refund they sent back on my credit card ($1854) and they said that I will receive and extra 300$ for canceling my flight a day before I had to fly and for using my money for 2 month for something else then purchasing my tickets. As of today (April 4th), I still don't see the booking money nor that 300$ returned on my credit card.

As one of the previous reviewer, I will file a complaint to Travel Industry Council Of Ontario against canadianfaires. By reading reviews on this website, they seems to have used this last minute cancellation illegal tactic very often which smells like fraud. I'm still thinking of going to a lawyer to open a case against this company.

And I'm not surprise if canadianfares will try to reply to my review with some fake/invented explanation. Or they will come up with fake accusation like they seems to do when you read all the previous review that looks very similar with what I had to deal with. I don't know if with all those people, we could have a class action against canadianfaires to make them stop this bad practice they use.

Forgot to mansion that their customer service are very rude especially on the email side.

2018/04/08 Update

i received booking confirmation Feb 16 and still no e-ticket issued as of this writing. Called them up twice and also emailed them but all they say is that it is queued in their ticketing department.

Update received via email 4/4/2018;

"We have checked with our ticketing department and due to some error in airline plating carrier we unable to issue this ticket. Therefore we have already processed the refund and it will take 7 business days to credit back to your Card."

This was such a bad experience…

UPDATE: I've never screamed at anyone as the representative of this company is trying to picture. It's just bad business practice. And I didn't use a single "bad" word, that's not how I do business and it's not how I'm used to be doing business here in Canada. I was firm but polite. I told your representatives on the phone as I'm telling you now, this is unlawful to deceive people and you should have also shown them my messages on Facebook that you read but never responded to. I do have proof as well.

My Email 1:

Hi there,
Could you please send me my tickets for both Lufthansa and Air Canada please? I haven't received them yet and I'd like to check on my reservation.
Thanks,
Vladimir

CanadianFares response (after talking to a guy who I could barely understand due to his broken English and a lot of background noise):

Hello,
We would like to inform to you that due to our system and airline system technical issues, We are unable to proses the service. Our management decided to full refund same your credit card.

Thanks And Kind Regards

Customer Service – C

My Email 2 (after spending 30 min on hold and speaking to 2 more deceiving customer representatives and telling them that I didn't want to have refund):

Hello,
I need the money right away. Send them as soon as possible. I will then take you to the Canadian Court.
Thanks,
Vladimir

My email 3 (never responded, after talking to TICO):
Hello,
I've reached out to TICO (Travel Industry Council Of Ontario) and I'm in the process of filling out their paperwork. They suggested to reach out to you again to settle it out before they get involved. My offer to you is you book me on the same flights and at the same times and dates as I originally booked and send the tickets to me.
Thank you,
Vladimir

My email 4 (after they sent me an email with refund):
Hello,
Did you miss my email with me asking you to rebook me on the same times/flights with you being responsible for all the costs?
I'm filling out a complaint form with TICO right now, with ACTA and CLIA being the next. I will then reach out to SunWing Vacations, Transat Holidays, AirCanada Vacations and WestJet Vacations to notify them about your inappropriate business behaviours as you have their logos on your website. The payment companies will be the next.
Regards,
Vladimir

END OF UPDATE

I booked my flights on February 2, 2018 for our vacation in Europe. After receiving a confirmation email from the agency which said they will send tickets in a separate email, I went on to make other arrangements for our vacation. My credit card was charged right away (appearing on Feb. 5) for the full amount of $3,429.24. I checked my bank statement a few days later and I saw the charge, so I assumed that all is good.

Yesterday (March 25, 2018), I decided to check my reservation on Lufthansa and was shocked to not find it. I then immediately phoned the agency but they do not have anybody answering over the weekend, so I sent an email instead asking them to provide me with e-tickets and confirmations. Today (March 26, 2018), I followed up with them via their phone number and was told that I would receive my tickets shortly. One hour later I received an email saying that they could not issue me tickets and that they would refund the amount I paid. I checked Google Flights and the price of tickets for the same days has gone up by at least $600 each which would result in me paying over $1,800 for the same tickets I thought I booked with the agency. Traveling with a toddler, I cannot accept other options with multiple layovers and much longer flights.

I overreacted initially and sent an email demanding my money to be refunded right away. I then followed up with another call talking to Shia (customer service representative) and Kinnsley (who appeared to be a supervisor) and I asked them to book me on the same flights with them bearing all additional costs. Kingsley told me that they would follow up with me on my cellphone.

45 minutes later they sent me an email with my refund confirmation instead. I explained three times to them that I want them to book me on the same flights and on the same dates instead of refund as the tickets prices have gone up significantly. My questions during the phone calls were evaded;my emails and calls were ignored after the refund email

My experience with their customer service was beyond any acceptable norms, communication was terrible and broken. This agency has very questionable business standards that should not be supported by any regulatory agency.

Facebook communication (never received a respond):
Hello,

I'm following up on an email that I received from you.
My reservation is GNUDLN. I would like to inform you that
I'm not satisfied with you holding my money for 2 months
and then deciding not to book the tickets.

1. I will chargeback the money with my bank.
2. I will file a dispute with travel industry council of Ontario
as you are a member with them with the registration number 50021957
3. I will take you to a Canadian court for not honoring your contract
which you entered into by charging my credit card on Feb 1, 2018.

I need your direct phone number that is not going to a call centre
in order for my lawyer to contact you.

Thank you.

I've reached out to TICO (Travel Industry Council Of Ontario)
and I'm in the process of filling out their paperwork.
They suggested to reach out to you again to settle
it out before they get involved. My offer to you is
you book me on the same flights and at the same times
and dates as I originally booked and send the tickets to me.

Thank you.

I have booked my husband's ticket on March 8 from Momondo and was redirected to this company. They have not sent me an e-ticket after 18 days of wait. I have called a couple of times and they always tell me they will call again after an hour which they never did. I took a leave of absence for this matter but they never responded to my concern. Avoid this company for your sake! I am very unsatisfied with their service. I have never encountered this much stress in other companies before.

I have booked a ticket for my dad since March 8 and no eticket was sent 18 days later. I have called the customer service twice and they keep telling me they will call back after an hour which they never did. I have never encountered any issues in the past with other companies. I trusted this Canadian Fares because of Momondo but I learned my lesson! This is becoming so stressful!

Whenever momondo has sent me to canadianfares I have had to chase down the e-ticket. The last time I was charged for my flight but they never reserved my ticket, meaning that I had to pay for a one way flight at 4:00am and then sort out the issue after. When I explained what happened and asked for a refund there was no apology or offer of credit, just a photograph of my refunded receipt. Too risky to trust them.

Stay FAR FAR AWAY.
I booked 2 flights for my fiance and brother for my international wedding and by chance I decided to change their seats ahead of time and found out that NEITHER ticker was ever issued. I called them, and they issued one ticket on the day I called and told me the other was cancelled by the airline (which was not true after discussion with the airline). THEN the issued ticket started to change over the course of the day, they changed my flight plan, they confirmed only part of the ticket, the return portion of the ticket was nowhere to be found, basically everytime I put in my record locator something about my flight was changing. What I suspect is that they were just trying any and every flight plan to get me something booked. I called them back and had them refund both tickets. I would urge anyone who booked with them to get a refund EVEN if the flight was confirmed because mine is changing with every passing minute and who knows in the end what the flight will actually be. Also, while on the phone with them I made them send me an email agreeing to the refund because something tells me they wont actually do it, which means I will have to call my credit card company and have them remove the charge and will need proof. Finally, through looking at other peoples misery with this company, I learned about TICO.ca which is some governing body for travel agents in ontario, and they are good resource as well. I am waiting for my refund and if I dont get it I will file a complaint with them.

4 days before my flight they cancel my flight. I've emailed asking for a reason but they won't reply. Said their system is down. There should be a way to get them shut down. They said I get a refund but I'll believe that when I see it. I was also told I would get compensation as it will cost me double the price to book the flight now. But they haven't told me how much. They should be shut down and not allowed scam anymore people

I was charged on my card, and a few days later by the airlines. At first, I assumed it was a pre-authorization but regardless brought it to their attention and no one responded. When I got my bill, 2 transactions completed….and the funds were taken out of my bank account (bank policy) and now I'm short $1800, a major inconvenience! I've pointed this out to them and I even provided the transaction # and it has been 2 weeks with no response.

NEVER USE THIS WEBSITE. This is the worst experience I鈥檝e ever had with any agent. Complete scam. I book my flight well in advance and they notify me a day before my flight saying they can鈥檛 provide the tickets. I had to rebook my flight now paying More than double what I originally paid 1000, now 2400. Currently awaiting a response on some type of reimbursement from them for the inconvenience they鈥檝e caused me, but highly doubt they鈥檒l do anything based on that experience.

It is a terrible experience to purchase air tickets with them! I booked two tickets of round trip with them on December 29th. They charged me. But, today is January 27th and I am still not given etickets information. I called their customer representatives many times, someone committed me it would be sent two days later and others committed to send by last Friday. But nothing by this week! I send them emails to ask about the information. No one responds and cares about my concerns! The worst thing is that when I checked with airlines tonight and they told me that my tickets are only booked rather than confirmed. Airlines told me to cancel this booking for some risks. This is a very bad experience. Trust me, stay daw away with this company. Cheating totally!!

Avoid to book any flight with this company. I had an horrible experience with them. I had to call them many many times for them to send my tickets. They always told me that ill receive them soon but finally they told me 3 days before my departure that they cant get the tickets i paid for. They could however find new ones for the same dates. The price of those was 1500 instead of 720. I told them to go … themselves and got refund somehow. The review from Dion is clearly a fake one.

I had a very very very very bad experience with Canadianfares.com! Was charged two times by the company. The first by Canadianfares then 4 days later I got charged another $1400 by the airline. You will never speak to a manager or anyone that cares to help. All they will tell you to do is send an email and you won't get a response. BEWARE!!! 2 months and no refund yet!!!

I also received this email from them last night. They tell me their system was hacked!

Thanks for your payment.

Thanks for purchasing the ticket with us,we have noticed some suspicous activities so we decide
to send you again the the details of the ticket, please confirm your purchase.
