One of the most counter-intuitive and bug-ridden email service providers out there. There are many other businesses that do it better and email isn't even the mainstay of their business.

Limited functionality, poor image compression and incredibly weak customer support.

Like dealing with a robot with no desire to help paying customers.

Parts of their interface have always bothered me but I carried on. However, the customer service is so bad it's laughable and they seem completely unbothered that we are leaving after 5+ years of business due to their inflexibility.

Spent the last 2hours designing an email using their 'free design feature'. After I had added all the content, I requested to be moved to 'preview' I was taken to the original format, not the design I had painstakingly created. I then was asked to fill out my contact details only for the screen to freeze and not be able to move to the next section. Will not be using again, as clearly not fit for purpose and looking at the other reviews, I perhaps should have done some due diligence before wasting half my money! Thanks Campaign Monitor!

I would never use this company's services again. 1 Star is overly generous.

My account was closed (unknowingly to me) no email, no communication what so ever. Can't log back in, can't access my database, no word from support. Essentially hung out to dry.

They have no way of advising clients whether or not there email servers are working. The reset password functionality does not work.
They claim it is only us, however all other emails are working perfectly with our servers. There customer service is so limited, I would not use this platform for serious commercial purposes.

Just after I submitted my first campaign for an approval process, my account was closed without any notice. No email, nothing, I just found out I'm not able to log in anymore or access the account via API. I have no idea why it happened as customer support never replied to my emails.

I suppose I'll be charged for a service I wasn't able to use. This attitude is unjustifiable.

After using this company for more than 8 years across a number of clients, when we no longer had access to an email address on one client account and there was no recourse – no backup recovery system!

And after nothing less than a blunt and dogmatic response to our issue, we were told in no uncertain terms – that it was 'tough'.

Despite offering to prove ownership via Credit Cards statements, HMRC records, Companies House details etc. We were still met with a shut door. Not even Google has this draconian approach to someone else's information.

As such, I am now reviewing the use of CM with all our clients.

Be very careful to keep any copies of your lists because it may suffer the same fate and CM doesn't seem to care.

Luckily for us, we have now found an old copy of our 3K+ database – but be warned, if you lose access to your email – you lose access to your database.

Disappointed of Essex!

Everything was going pretty well until they suddenly took 拢100 payment without warning. We did increase our subscriber list but didn't do anything with it. We removed it after 24 hours as well. The last time we increased it, we were told no campaigns would be sent out unless we upgraded the account. We did this no problem. Then, the second time it happens, there is no warning and they just take the money out.

Very disappointed. I have emailed them but I am guessing it will not go in our favour as they refuse to do refunds. If it does then I will remove this review.

update: Contacted me with a pathetic, useless response. Basically, they can't control their own systems.

After sending them previous email reports and showing them you are in good standing with another service, they will pause your account, hold you hostage, and not refund you for the emails you paid for and did not use.

You get sucked in by the nice designs, invest days and weeks to perfect it, then realised they charge more without notifications, do as they wish and even the replies by the customer services is a TEMPLATE. Ironic, sad and disappointing. AVOID

They put you on auto-renewal and their renewal emails point you to the contract end date but is silent about cancellation needing to be 30 days BEFORE that date. Complete shonks.

Similar to the other complaints on this site about Campaign Manager, I too have had a bad experience and they have been charging me for 8 months without using their service.

I uploaded a new credit card on December and my billing was unbeknown to me, changed to monthly.

I escalated this to their Head of Support and was disappointed, although not surprised, that the poor approach to customer service clearly comes from the top.

Campaign Monitor operate a business in what is now a highly competitive environment, my advice is DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Whilst the founder's are now two of the wealthiest people in Australia, customer service clearly is no longer of importance to them from their ivory tower.

Again – GO ELSEWHERE and avoid the pitfalls I have experienced from this shonky company.

Took my money and closed my account and refuse to refund me. I have only sent 1000 emails. They have a vague policy that doesn't state what marketers sectors should be in. Make sure you check you can use their platform before you enter your card details.

I would like to echo Chris H. sentiments about the poor customer service. I couldn't get a demo or initial discussion set up to save my life. The sales person I was in contact with just sent me links to view videos and told me to sign up for a trial after I asked some questions via email. We have several business cases that we were hoping to solve with Campaign Monitor. I needed very detailed, technical information-
hence why a demo and preliminary meeting was needed. Their salespeople don't seem very ambitious. We obviously went with another provider.

Called to try and set up an account. The Lady on the phone said that because we only had 15,000 subscribers that no one was willing to give me any more details about the service and that they would send me an email. After being berated by this lady I asked to speak to the manager she said no laughed down the phone and hung up. I was a little surprised as I only wanted a quick overview of the platform. Hubspot, Marketo, Drip and Active Campaign have all been very professional when discussing their service, I don't know why Campaign Monitor isn't.

The best Email Marketing company I've ever used. I wanted to love Mail Chimp, such a fun brand, but their software is terrible.

Campaign Monitor has never let me down in five years of using them for various jobs and clients. Their customer service is the best I've ever encountered from ANY online company. You will get a response quickly, and they will actually read your email properly (unlike so many other companies you send boilerplate responses). They've literally helped me amend campaigns that have been sent. Always super smart, helpful and friendly.

Additionally, their email previewer facilities are invaluable for catching problems in different mail clients. I literally couldn't perform my job without it.

The best thing of all: They're cheaper than their competitors.

I cannot recommend this company enough!

Campaign Monitor is an email marketing software system for designers – and while I'm not really a designer, it has allowed me a whole lot of freedom in what we send out at my company.

I previously used iContact.com after trialling this and ConstantContact.com. I liked iContact customer service, but their packages weren't quite right, and I could never get my campaigns to look very professional (as I was doing them myself).

CampaignMonitor works just great, they even have a $5 per campaign trial option where they will send the DM email out to their own specially set up accounts across different email providers and operating systems and show you in little screen grabs what the display will look like on each system.
This is really useful as what looks good sent to my Outlook 7 may appear very differently in hotmail, or on an iphone/blackberry.

They are also very affordable for sending low quantity campaigns.
Their service is intended to be re-branded for design companies/ PR companies to set up email campaigns for their own clients, and is sometimes white-labelled as something else.

You can send emails out to 5 addresses before you need to pay to, no credit card details needed here, so easy to try it out too.

They have very good customer service for the small issues I've needed help with also.
