Stopped in here while visiting a friend in the area after a hike at a nearby state park. Cute place, pretty location, nice building up on a hill. They could use some more signage for people driving in. Our server was friendly and we had a good experience with her, although the fruit flies were really overwhelming inside at the bar. We were awkwardly swatting them away during the tasting. We split the chicken garlic pizza which was delicious. After our tasting we each had a glass of the best vino by far, the Frontenac, and strolled outside. It's lovely out there except for the massive pile of junk and clutter poorly hidden off to the side. I'd be annoyed if that was part of my event or wedding backdrop. There was a musician starting up to play, but he brought his girlfriend and 4 children, who sat in the prime front location and played electronics and whined loudly during the set. The manager really should have not allowed that, especially since they didn't order anything. Overall it was decent, but I wouldn't go rushing back.

Barrel tastings are fun at this beautiful winery with great views. Knowledgable staff are friendly. Excellent wines made there on their 17 acres. Will the owner strides to make the best wines and educate his club members and guests. Moto is their new sparkling wine and even skeptic wine drinkers loved it.

Beautiful winery both inside and out. Kelsie did our tastings for us (we both chose to taste the dry wines) and was quite friendly and knowledgeable. Our favorite was their 2013 Chambourcin Reserve which we were unable to try as part of the tasting but went ahead and purchased a bottle to drink there along with fresh bread and dipping oil. The Reserve is rather pricey at $34, but we thoroughly enjoyed and purchased two more to take home with us! The 6 hour drive from our home to this winery was definitely worth the trip!

Nice venue. Liked the Frontenac wine. You can buy wine by the bottle or glass and then they have a selection of cheeses and crackers and sausage that you can buy to munch on. They provide the plates, napkins and a knife of course Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Went to a office Christmas party here. Staff seemed put out every time we asked for something. They actually refused to turn down the music so that the company CEO could address the group. There was no food so the company had the event catered. The wine did not taste very good to me or my wife and there was no other beverage available. When I asked for water the woman behind the bar pointed to a pitcher at the end of the bar. Now that's service. Won't be returning here.

Excellent!!! I recently visited Calico Skies coming from New York for a friend s wedding. My fiance and I are wine enthusiasts and frequent visitors of our local vineyards out in Long Island so we were anxious to be touring our first Midwest vineyard. Both our experiences were outstanding and rivaled some of our favorite New York spots. The staff at Calico was knowledgeable, attentive and extremely friendly. The variety of wines they harvest and bottle was truly impressive. A crowd favorite throughout the evening was the Marquette and our party enjoyed several bottles. Additionally it was a perfect venue for a wedding with the outdoor veranda, beautiful Iowa skyline and gorgeous tasting room. We will definitely make a special trip back when were in the area again!
