The worst banking experience in my life.
The bank application is the worst I've seen and completely not user friendly. No way to contact anyone. They provide a whatssapp number which does not exist.
Please do something to improve your services because you will loose clients.

Horrible! Absolutely horrible. I work in the United States and have money coming into my account every two weeks. But they wanted to see if I had a declaration from the social security office in Spain that I was working. I'm like I don't work in Spain… Therefore no I don't have a declaration.

The man tells me no problem that I could order a credit card I'm like sounds great my only use would be for a emergency. Well card gets to the office and I get told I can't have it because I don't work in Spain.. Then why the actual **** would you tell me yes in the 1st place? I asked to see if I could get a debit card they wanted me to pay 35鈧?I said to close my account and left. Absolutely horrible bank and rude environment.

Went to BBVA and was wayy better the staff spoke English and attended me very well.

The worst bank in Spain. They will nickel and dime you for everything. Hidden costs and surcharges that the employees themselves do not even understand. Stay far away from this bank! I closed my account after only 3 months, just not worth it, there are far better options these days.

I have tried 3 times now to xfer money into my account from the UK. All without success. I have no idea why. I have tried to contact them but have only so far received an automatic response. My account is virtually empty and will be unable to pay any bills. What the heck is happening with them?

I recently had to cash a cheque in the guadamina branch marbella.I phoned first and was told that I could before 11 am no problem.I went there and was told by a very rude and unprofessional female worker that I can't, she kept pointing to a notice and had no answer to the fact that I had called and been told otherwise.I went to the puerto banus branch after calling again and eventually cashed the cheque. The manager as also said I can't cash it but they did, it Seems they don't communicate with each other a don't k ow what's going on, apart from that this person was very vague and unprofessional.Customer service doesn't exist with this bank and they are ignorant to their own rules and highly unhelpful and unprofessional.I would never deal with them but I had a cheque to cash from a customer.Im aware there's a virus and we all need to respect that bit all they have to do is give correct information that is clear and doesn't contradict what another employee says.Worst bank I've ever dealt with

Hello everyone,

I have read many of your comments and I have to say thank you all and also.. I'm getting extra scared now because i have an account with Caixa and i have several issues with them.
I have to be honest that i never had any issues with Caixa before, but since a couple of weeks now everything is a nightmare.
1. I started a so called "Aval Bancaria" agreement with them. For that I needed to have 4k in my bank which I didn't have so the solution was to give me some kind of credit.. for this credit I had to pay 鈧?50. Monthly and that would give me a 鈧?50. a month on my "VisaGo" credit card that I could use to purchase things but not take money out from the ATM.
After I would reach 4k this would be paid out to me and it was after paying 250 for enough months. After the payment they kept collecting 250 every month so I thought, ok after a little over a year of time I would just collect another 4k, so that's all good but guess what? They're saying that the this agreement has stopped after the first time they paid me my 4k. I've sent all my calculations to them in an email attachment and of course there is no response.
2. Right after this first time pay out of 4k they started collecting a "Visa familiar" which I found out is a life insurance that I have never signed anything for and couldn't because my office was in Barcelona and I live in Alicante so I cant just walk into any office until my contact person/adviser assigns one to me, this while problem I'm having is the advisor that's not responding to me to go figure.
3. Instead of getting my 4k now they e only contacted me to tell me that I have some unpaid stuff that I have to take care of. First of all.. I don't pay any Bill's through this bank account, al I do os receive my salary and spend it by taking out money of using my card to pay for groceries, drinks or shopping. Second of all.. I have an agreement that I can't go into negative, so if i have no money on my account I can't purchase anything on credit. The only thing they can charge me is outstanding Bill's that I have with the bank itself. The only thing should be my monthly fees because i never applied for anything else.
4. Since i got to speak to my advisor he basically told me that the 250 and the 4k situation is not correct and they haven't been charging me 250 every month, so basically I'm making this up. Even worse, he told me that they can't see anything I'm saying in the system. I've collected all the information with the dates and when I've received money and what was charged and sent this all in the email but since I've done that there is no response.
Please.. if there is anyone that has any advice or knows a reasonable lawyer who can help me out let me know.
My Facebook name is "Raf Tafari". Feel free to send me a private message or friend request. And if you happen to be a solicitor or lawyer please do not hesitate to contact me.. I have more than enough numbers and words for you to start a lawsuit and whatever we can get out of Caixa bank in this lawsuit 20% is yours.
Thank you all. Facebook: "Raf Tafari"

Worst experience ever. I have the same problem as all the people here. They are taking my money for an insurance I do not want and I just asked them for a logical/profesional explanation since 02.04.2020 without success. Their customer service is 0 not helpful at all.

Moreover I decided to go trough social media like LinkedIn as is a profesional space and I saw an artikle in which they were saying that they are 90% operational during Covi-19 haha I just left my comment as that is a lie and one of the directors replied to me: Argument and explain, at the moment the lie is your – Do you think that is professional, coming from director? After my long explanation the answe was:

ok, understood, surely do not arrive, so 100% operational is an exaggeration/inaccuracy, maybe they are responding about 60% in real, so complaints about delays are totally justified. (I withdraw my previous comment)

I am very disappointed and I would never recommend this bank.

Caixa charges me 3.95鈧?to transfer 鈧?0 via online banking. That's 8%. Ridiculous! Also, the maintenance cost for my bank account is very high.

If the bankster cartel weren#t enough scumbags to deal with already… here we have THE SPANISH CHAMPION…

Arrogance and trick people, should come at a cost – but seems like these banks are exempt of what we people have to comply with. And on top of that we will probably have to bail them out once again… or is it gonna be a "Bail-In" this time?

Well I left LaCaixa and joined EVO … a whole another world

I was told to get a free bank account I had to take out a savings plan P铆as destino 30. It's not actually a savings account it is linked to money market and now I have 300鈧?less than I've paid in over the last year. Also had to take out a life insurance at 3.43鈧?a month. I tried to cancel these in January and told no, you have to keep paying as you can only give notice to quit before the start of a new year.
Not allowed to close the account because they need to take the money for the products I don't want!
And I've just been charged 12鈧?for deposit maintenance commission, I thought my account was free??
I've got no money going in there due to the virus, yet they still taking money off me. One of many things Spain rips us off at. I'm moving back to UK when travel is allowed again. I'll withdraw everything before I go
and let them take 100% of nothing!!!

Terrible customer service. Be careful! This is very old fashioned bank , very bureaucratic, a lot services requires you to go to their office and even there you are facing terrible service, long queues, unfriendly stuff, lots of papers.
Now some examples of problems I have faced with CaixaBank

1. The mobile app is a JOKE – it gives a lot of errors – lots of services does not work : "Found error" , "This service does not work now" , things like this, terrible , how possible for a popular bank in today's digital world!
2. If you lose your card and request new one you will wait days to get it! They will even not inform you about the status of the card , you need to bother to call them to check – and even then it is a nightmare to go through their call center. You can expect they will tell you to other numbers or just disconnect you saying "too busy" !
3. The introduce stupid apps like chatbots Neo, that in fact does not work and does not bring any value – most of the questions you ask – it does not answer
4. Communication with the bank via email or their Web App does not work – they basically ignore you. There is suposed to be a 'your dedicated gestor' , but the only thing it does it sends you a promotions or Christmas wishes. It never responds to your questions
5. Call center is a nightmare – they try to introduce some kind of automation there like voice recognition – which only makes things worse as it does not work – in most cases it does not understand what you say.
6. Very high maintenance and transfer costs. This bank charges you much higher comparing to other banks. For SEPA transfer in EU they will charge you 0.04% ,

In general comparing to the modern banks in other countries this bank looks very unfriendly, old bureaucratic. Be careful with them as it may rise your blood pressure. Not recommending.

Bad bad Caixa. I'm at the 3331 office in Barcelona, carrer Berlin Numancia and I can assure you, they are bad there. Before that my oficina was elsewhere in Barcelona and they were bad too, not as bad though. To be fair, the only advisor I had who was extremely efficient and polite, more than that she was nice (a word most advisors at Caixa wouldn't know), well a few months later I was told she left Caixa bank… couldn't say I was surprised. This is no bank for nice, professional or helpful people. These ones probably leave as soon as they can and find better horizons. The atenci贸n al cliente is terrible, they couldn't care less about client management and good relationship. They take your money, they poorly manage your account, there is NO follow up whatsover (they usually never reply to emails and when they do, half the information you asked for is missing). I am astonished by such a lack of professionalism and rudeness of the people working there. Their lack of humanity and care for their clients is deeply disgusting. I have never had any problems with my account but for some reason they seem to be making the issues themselves and when you actually want them to fix their own mistakes, they act entitled and would pretend they don't understand. They leave the issue rot overtime – not replying to emails or pretending someone else did – and when you get tired of it you eventually leave it at that too. But when finally you're the one who needs their support in such a tense time, they patronize you and deny even giving a solution to your issue. How's that called "a bank"?

As soon as the quarantine is over I'm closingmy account.

It鈥檚 a racist bank. I tried to open a bank account (calles barcas 2 all-in-one branch)to buy a flat in valencia on 27/1/2020 with Marti Albert. I gave all the documents (tax returns, bank statements, contract, provident fund accounts, NIE, passport), but i was refused to open an account because of my nationality – Chinese. I have proved the legacy of my income, which i earn as a professor. I earn 鈧?0000/per month with tax returns to prove. I cannot think of any reason why i cannot open a simple account to buy a house and pay bills! What a racist bank! I wrote also four emails to the office and got no replies. Spanish banks are total nightmares!

Got 102 euros stolen from my account. Caixa blamed me (?!). For me to get my money back, I had to go on the website. from there, I had to get an app. From the app, they needed to verify through the first email i ever used (more than 10 years ago. It is worth noting I have updated my email, but someone at caixa did not update it i guess?(I have paper proof of it). Did not get my money back. Find it ridiculous that when my money got stolen, I get blamed and i have to jump through hoops to be able to even declare that it got stolen. I do not feel safe anymore with my money there. Will change banks as soon as quarantine is over.

I had read online that CaixaBank had no commission on
Foreign Exchange ABM withdrawals….warning…this is not the case!
Warning! the English display screen does not give you detailed information on what your charges will be as you proceed through the
transaction.
I was charged 鈧? fee for withdrawing 鈧?00 + a very bad exchange
rate.
They also totally misrepresented the amount that would appear
on my debit card statement.
Fortunately my home bank statement was accurate.
I will not use CaixaBank ATM鈥檚 again and will use my credit
card whenever possible.

Really bad bank. Non-existent and dear services, abuse and arrogance, hours of queues in the office, no customer assistance. I happily switched to another bank, hoping that this stupids will fail.

AVOID the non resident account . Rip of
Poor IT , poor branches , poor staff , poor ATMs – high charges – 19th century service . Just avoid . I wanted to cancel a direct debit but had to travel to one particular branch to do so , wait an hour on a queue and then get charged 鈧?5 for the privilege- Just AVOID .

This bank always had high fees. 鈧?2 per quarter maintenance fees and a charge of 0.4% just to withdraw my own money. But now I have just received a letter saying they are changing the terms and conditions of my account to increase the quarterly maintenance fee to 鈧?0 unless I deposit my salary into it monthly. 鈧?0 a quarter!!!
Well as I鈥檓 a non resident and this account was set up as a non resident it is impossible for me to meet those conditions.
This bank has gone from expensive to extortionate.
I am closing my account this week and have moved to a fee free app based Spanish account. I won鈥檛 miss being ripped off by Caixa Bank!

A few really bad issues with Caixa.
Talked us into car and house insurance 4 years ago, turned out the car was insured for 11 months. this was not made clear.
House insurance was for 3 years, they automatically renewed this at the end of 3 years at over 300 euros. i tried to get out of this but they said i had signed onto a document in Spanish and i have to run the term. no refund.
i could actually see they were making 49% margin from the provider.
I let them talk me into an investment over 2 years then a further 2 years.
guess what lost money on this. Please don't touch this shower with your savings, insurance or investments.
They seem very plausible and even professional but behind the scenes they are a shambles.
not sure i would even leave too much in a Spanish bank after dealing with this lot.

I have an arrangement with my bank to pay all my bills as they come in knowing that my income by the end of the month clears all and I have no debt plus my mortgage paid. I pay hefty charges for this privilege and it is all agreed with the manager of my branch. I get HARASSMENT daily from their debt collects because my account is overdrawn some of the month they call me 2 or 3 times a day to te me to go and speak to my branch.. I CANNOT go overdrawn without my branch giving permission this is pure harassment. Now I put the phone by Alexa and play music to them but it is so tiring, even if I tell them do not panic all is good and agreed with my branch the harassment does not stop. If I did not have my mortgage with them I would close my account.

Absolutely horrendous.
They charge you for every transfer fee they can think of, and after a massive charge I had my solicitor look into them and the result was:
'They have clauses that say, 'we can change or charge what we like''
Had one today for 5 euros for putting a cheque in.

At least you know a highwayman is one because of the mask and the horse.
