Byethost Free Webhosting

I used byethost and they cancelled my plan without any notice! All of my data was gone.

AWWWFUL, they fake limits by saying UNLIMITED. CPU limit is too damn low, it's too easy to overcome Memory limits and when this happens. You are suspended for over-using the resources. TOTAL SCAM. Thinking about paid plans? Never do it the are expensive and slow at the same time.
I was thinking about starting my online store at byethost and wanted to try free hosting before moving to paid plans and I'm glad I didn't fall for it.

Byethosting is a good website hosting service however it lacks in SSL, what's the point of a free hosting service that people want to use/share when it isn't secure and you can not use a free ssl. Not recommended unless you don't care about security.

Slow, I can't even connect to their FTP.

I signed up for the free hosting thinking if it was any good I might move to paid. They suck you in with the free hosting and you might end up doing a lot of work to create your WordPress or whatever site, then launch it. It sounds great free, no bandwidth limits no limits free…..

That's not true though after a few days you get spammed to death with emails warning of resource limits? You are urged to sign up for a paid plan. These get more frequent rising to 2 or 3 per day. Then the site is suspended for 24 hours this starts to happen more and more often until suspended every day. Even if no one uses it and it's never up. I know this because I removed all links to the site, so there would be no reason for people to visit and had an e-mail on the 24th telling me of a 24 hr resource usage suspension and another on the 25th telling me the same thing…effectively the site never came up again.

Then the spam changes to the key threat "Free hosting accounts that are suspended over 40 times are not able to be reactivated / will not reactivate, you should upgrade if there is any doubt !"

Don't waste your time with these people the paid hosting has limits and if their practices are anything like with the free hosting I would not trust them to not try and bleed you dry. I am with another add supported WP host and it works fine and has done for a year. I may well upgrade with them as they are cheaper and seem better than these jokers.

For a free web hosting service – it's great. It's updated, fast (for a free service), and reliable enough. The only drawback is support – if you lose files – you lose files! You have to be very attentive and responsive to your website since you shouldn't expect anything – it's free!!

I give this 4 stars, despite the quality of service – only to overstate the fact that for something free, they actually provide helluva service compared to what I am paying now (zoom.ph) – which I am leaving ASAP!

I won't go back to free services – but when I was in college (a decade ago) and didn't have money for such things – byethost tided me over spectacularly – at the price, which is FREE.

I cannot vouch for any of their paid services.

I've not been with these since my account closure in 2006.
For the past couple of months I have just started receiving spam email prompting their services. It doesn't seem to matter if I click unsubscribe as I am still receiving them. Contact them you say? Sure, I have to create yet another account to send a ticket!? No thanks.

Unlike the SCAM site 000webhost.com, these guys do not limit Filesize/CPU/PHP/MySQL etc.
TOP free hosting site for wordpress,joomla and any PHP software.

Well, it WORKS. But if you want a free host, do not choose this! In every support ticket I sent, instead of helping they just say something like "The site won't work because it's free host. Consider upgrading so you get a good website and support".
Also, it feels like the control panel for free host is ten years old and there is alot of free hosts out there with good support and cPanel (000webhost, for example).

I have used this site and found the contents useful and informative.

I am making good experiences with their free hosting, it offers more than some paid alternatives, although they seem to to have lower bandwith than paid hosts.

A safe site but be careful.

The site is safe. I don't see anything wrong with it. It has a VistaPanel, like another host named eb2a. It has free MySQL (50 MB) and PHP. I do not see why it is listed bad by HPHosts, and to g7w , the list you gave does not show this website on it.
