I think that bulb have been overcharging me for a long time. I've tried to sort this out but they refuse to. My payments are now 拢60 a month and I'm a single person. Barely at home and only use my gas heating if extremely cold. In june this year they say I used 拢40 gas. I only have gas heating nothing else. I certainly did not use central heating in June!!!!
I've tried to work it out myself but it's not easy maths, I am now going to ask citizen advice or my accountant to do the maths for me
Before bulb I paid e on 拢46 month and I was always in credit. I started at 拢27 with bulb, increased to 40, 60, 60 and now 拢70!!! And I'm still in debit even after paying the 拢130 debit and they then increased this to 拢190?????

My monthly bills have doubled since I joined them – I鈥檝e just paid 拢238 for one month – even though it鈥檚 summer and we were away for five days!!! They wouldn鈥檛 take correct meter readings when I joined and they are cripplingly expensive. DO NOT USE BULB ever! See the other reviews!! I am reporting them to Ofgem.

Dishonest..robbing company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Made me an offer to use their services by offering a 拢50 a month charge..so went with them. Now apparently my bill is now 拢144 a month because I wasn't paying enough. Although they set the price not me..there is no talking to them. We have been told its our fault and I have to pay the bill until money owed is paid in full…im not even allowed to go to another company..when we try to move Bulb blocks it..company is a total joke and very unprofessional..stay away from them . Ivhad to give a 1* because there is nothing lower

This is an update of my original experience. back to one star as promised transposed register readings are still the wrong way round. Fed up with empty promises of the problem being fixed. Asked for deadlock letter now. Hopeless and helpless company.

Although I鈥檝e been with Bulb for almost 4 years, I decided to carry out my annual comparison of energy suppliers and see how they compared with other firms.
For some reason, there appears to be 2 separate Trustpilot websites relating to Bulb. This particular Trustpilot website gives Bulb mostly poor reviews 鈥?with an aggregate rating of only 2.3 stars. This particular Trustpilot page relates to 鈥楤ulbenergy,鈥?which doesn鈥檛 even exist.
Meanwhile on the 2nd Trustpilot website, which relates to the genuine Bulb, there are just under fifty-nine thousand up-to-date reviews, 95% of which are mostly 鈥榚xcellent鈥?or 鈥榞reat鈥?for Bulb and gives them a rating of 4.8 stars (out of 5 stars).
Unfortunately, Trustpilot don't allow links in these reviews. Nevertheless, a Google search will take you to the genuine Trustpilot page.
Having been with various suppliers over the years, as far as I鈥檓 concerned, Bulb has been the best of them all, for a combination of price, easily understood bills and down to earth customer support. Credit where it's due.

As other have stated gives a low Direct debit amount to begin with but soon increases it by a massive amount ( 拢40 in my case) they justify this by saying you need to create a credit to get you through winter. I have never paid so much for my energy. They ignore the meter readings you supply unless accompanied by a photo & even then there are times they will ignore them & estatimate the reading.
The amount of security questions they ask you before engaging in any correspondence with you is ridiculous. Name, address, dob, email address, phone number, how much your monthly do is…. I even offered my inside leg measurement because Im sure thats the only thing they didn't know about me.
If you have an emergency,as we did, God help you, because we had to jump through hoops to get anyone to take it seriously. They asked the same questions over & over again, wanting photos of everything then asking for them again 10 minutes later.
Unless at best & downright dangerous at worst. They don't deserve to have any customers.

Bulb started by saying we would only pay 拢38 per month, we new this would not be enough for winter so put D.D up to 拢55 this has always been plenty, but without notice of why our D.D was put up to 拢77 We could NOT reduce this amount, I have now moved companies Bulb owe us money but will NOT refund for 2 weeks, it may not be much we are owed but they are quick enough to take your money but trying too get it back is HELL WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY

This company gave me an unrealistically cheap, monthly quote to get me to sign up. I even asked if the quote was just a temporary offer or something because it was so low compared to others. They replied no, it really was calculated as what I should pay each month all year.
After a few months, I started getting e-mails saying,'we suggest' you increase by 拢5, 拢10 per month and 'it's up to you'. However, had I not increased payments, I'd have been accumulating debt, so it's not really 'up to me', but it's a clever marketing device. The little increments are now going to take me to be paying more than when I was with the previous company.
Bulb were getting nearly all 5 star reviews when they set up and no wonder, it seemed so cheap. Now, more realistic reviews like mine are appearing.
The website's easy to follow and the customer services are helpful, but I'm now looking at other companies, or returning to a previous company, because I don't like this underhand recruitment tactic.

Awful company.
Took months to sort out electricity readings,then charged me TWICE on the bill!!
Monthly payments all over the place due to their incompetence ,and the most expensive supplier out of several I've tried.

Avoid this company at any cost
Bulb was advertised as one of the cheapest energy suppliers out there. It was recommended to us by a friend and our landlady.
After using them for a year and paying just 拢40 per month, we got hit with a 拢1225 bill for the month of May. So it turns out that we've used more energy in our one bed household in a month than a family of 4 in a 3 bed house for a year.
After speaking to them they said that they have not calculated our bill correctly over the past year and a bit, therefore we owe them the money and are contractually obliged to pay. That was the tipping point for me and my partner. We were fortunate to be able to pay this mammoth bill and decided to leave both the property and this godawful company.
They are a complete scam! If you care about your money, DON'T GO WITH BULB!

Best energy company I have ever been with and the cheapest. You know where you stand they only have one tariff. Easy to adjust monthly payments if you send your meter readings in each month. Must say they have been a delight use. 拢50 for my son and myself as well when he took out the account using my code. Great service. Love them.

Awful:AVOID
They started off OK.
We got rid of the appliance using the Economy 7 tariff and disconnected the Economy 7 meter.
Asked Bulb to fit new legacy meter because of the change. They said it would take months because of C19 (fair enough) so asked them to change our tariff. They refused, so we were now paying the most expensive tariff for all of our electricity (AKA, being ripped off).
Called around around other companies and asked if we could have a normal tariff with economy seven meter, several said yes and we settled on one.
During all of this Bulb told us we needed to pay more every month despite the fact we were building up a healthy credit balance. We have closed the account with Bulb and now they claim it will take 6 weeks to issue a refund. Funny old thing, takes em 1 .5 seconds to take money and 6 weeks to refund it.
AVOID.

Recommend by which we went with this company. It was ok for the first year but has now put our payments up from 拢50 to 拢78 and now to 拢120 and are saying we owe them 拢650! Furious. When I rang they are saying we used more in the winter and now it鈥檚 the summer months we are still not getting the usage down even though we haven鈥檛 used our dryer or had the heating on. Why are Which recommending this diabolical company! Looking at other reviews we are not the only ones they are doing this to! Do not recommend this supplier!

I have been with this company for a couple of years and they have been amazing. I've not had many issues but customer service has been excellent when I have needed them. They have been the cheapest around for the length I've been with them and you can claim the warm home discount with them too. If you sign up using my link we both receive 拢50 each into our bank accounts when your switch or sign up is complete 馃槈 You need to remove the spaces in the link for it to work 馃榾

I am sorry to say but this company does not know what they are doing,i joined them because a family member introduced them to me, but i would not advice to anyone,my direct debit with this lot was clearly set up,but due to they negligence they never took payment for month until after 9 month they told me i was in arrears and they increased my payments which i could not afford,i ask them to compromise on the amount so i could clear the amount but they wont badge even know it was they fault to get a customers fell in this situation,but they didn't help.Its all smoke and no fire with this lot don't believe everything they say about this supplier.I have now changed them and got a new supplier which sound far better than bulb.and one thing is for sure i will never go back to this lot.

come to this page as the real bulb review page is filled with bots rating them high scores. in reality, they're a shambles of an energy supplier who makes things up as they go. They initially quoted me a rate of which I was happy to join them but they left it 8 months before telling me I've not been paying enough and in the meantime, I've accumulated a 拢500 debt with them, which means they've increased my bill to that of a 4 bed house when in fact I'm living in a 2 bed flat. I'm trying to sort it but they're not budging. They keep avoiding every valid point I make and just repeat their reasons for the rise in charges.
Do not get sucked in by their attractive quotes as they use the fact that they're only estimates to their advantage and pump the prices up as soon as you're with them

I am really surprised to read the bad reviews about Bulb because I have found them to be great. I can't have a smart meter because I live in a flat and the other flats have access to the meter cupboard.
Rather than relying on estimated readings, I set a reminder on my phone to update my readings 2 days before the bill each month. It is really quick and straightforward.
My current minimum allowable Direct Debit payment is more than I am using with it being warmer weather so I asked for a refund for the overpayment – they did it straight away and the money was back in my account that day.
I am really pleased with the company and their service. If you take less than 2 mins to update your reading each month I can't see why anyone should have a problem with them.

An employee of this company has been ringing me on my mobile (dont even know how he found the number) calling me by Christian name from the outset and wont take no for an answer. He has phoned every day for a week, using 3 different numbers and I consider it harrassment. What part of no dont they understand?
