Budgetair

Very very bad experience. BudgetAir is pathetic.
I booked a flight last year from Melbourne to India (Malaysian airlines) in Oct 2019, the ticket had my a part of my last name truncated and when I went to the check in, they denied boarding asking me to correct the name and only the agency in this case BudgetAir can do it. Then I tried to call in Budgetair and after an hour of desperate calls, they picked it up and refused to change my name since Budgetair argued they cannot change and only Malaysian airlines, i was caught in between and almost pleaded with the check in counter lady but nothing worked and by then the check in counter closed leaving me in the lurch. I am doubly sure i entered my last name correctly ( i have travelled many a times with Singapore Airlines and no problem at all).
There is some system issue with Budgetair which is truncating the name, they immediately need to rectify it, meanwhile I could not approach the Australian consumer court due to Covid, but ready to support anyone who is filing a case against BudgetAir.
I sent them several mails asking for refund and was denied and also any tax refund which they said the cancellation charge is more than tax and cannot be refunded (what a joke!). Please avoid booking with them and book via direct airlines, Singapore Airlines is the best.

Please try to avoid Budget Air at any cost. I cancelled my flight last year and it has been over 13 months and still have not received my refund, I was informed that the redund was processed (pre-Covid), yet no refund. The contact is lousy and disgusting. Anytime that an email is sent to them, the response from Budget Air is an automated response.
PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND PRECIOUS TIME!

I made a booking through you 72 hours ago, and you keep telling me my ticket will be issued in 24 hours. now 4 days later, I have received NO confirmation by email. when I contact you on +27875502128, it is not answered, your head office number in NL on +310202061983 doesnt answer.
I have paid over 500 GBP for a flight that you will not issue me a ticket for.
This must be fixed immediately, by someone who can actually fix it, not a call centre in india who repeat the same nonsense without any solutions.

When applying for Travel insurance I noticed the I switched the two letters in the name of one of the three passengers. Many airlines will even allow the passenger to board the plane with such small error without correcting it, especially that the name, which I put DOES NOT exist. However, I wanted it corrected, but as the tickets were booked via BudgetAir, I had to ask them to approve the correction, which I have done myself on their website. They asked a payment of $50 for the correction. Even called my husband and in broken English demanded IMMEDIATE payment, nevermind that the tickets are for November and the payment can be done two days before departure.
They already charged us credit card fees, which is ILLEGAL in South Africa.
We are still waiting feedback on discount voucher, which we had after booking tickets last year and we were not able to apply when we booked accommodation.
They can take their this year's voucher and use it to correct the name.
I will make sure everyone knows about their HORRIBLE practices!!!

They are difficulty to contact.
Their Customer Service is shocking poor.
I called them 6 different times, each time is answered by a Robot call handler, then I had to select option 2, then they keep me waiting for a very long time. 3 times the call was on hold for 60 minutes then cut off. The Robot caller promised to call back but no one did.
This happen 3 times, costing me money and time waiting to get to the Customer Service.
Twice I got thru and was picked up after 30 minutes, the person promised to call back, and they never did.
THE WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER…

WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE AND THEY DO NOT CARE.

So I booked a ticket to Europe for R5000.00 (Score, best site ever!!). I get to my destination safely and realize I'm overstaying my VISA and need to change the return date – to my surprise they want me to pay R15000.00 extra. But this is the kicker – I can pay R5000.00 (Again) to return home using the same flight company and when I tell the customer service this they have nothing to say, no resolution, no service, no help.

Use a different site as I feel this site is taking funds from customers and stating "the flight company has increased the fare due to seasonal changes and prices could increase if I do not request this change immediately."

Crooks – be careful!!!!!!

This is the email that I was sent:

"
Unfortunately, your booking request on failed. During the booking process, the airline provided us incorrect seat availability for the price you selected, regrettably we were unsuccessful to rebook your seats.

We have cancelled your booking request and refunded your payment of ZAR 12044.00
Because of the processing time required by the banks and credit card companies, it may take up to 4 weeks before you can see this payment in your account. Unfortunately, we cannot expedite this process due to external parties.

We apologize for the inconvenience."

What on EARTH customer service is this – 4 weeks to get my money back?

In addition – why then, if there are no seats available, are BudgetAir still advertising those exact flights on two different airline booking platforms???

Budget is definitely an accurate word to describe BUDGETAIR!!!!!

My credit card was rejected for my flight from Iguassu Falls to Rio de Janeiro (Galeo) by Gol airlines on the 12 May 2016 as they indicated that the credit card details on their system for the booking were different to the card I used to book the flight (I had the correct credit card with me). I therefore needed to repay for the flight for my credit card directly at the Gol check-in. They indicated that the charge for the initial payment would be reversed and that I would be refunded by the company I purchased the ticket from, Budgetair. I have been back and forth with them for over a month now and the matter is nowhere near being resolved and I have not received my refund.

I travel a lot and have never come across such a site.

I am really not even sure this is a legitimate company.

They book your ticket and charge your card. But then they cancel the booking and keep your money.

So you think you have a e-ticket but in actual fact it has been cancelled. So you go off to the airport to find out there is no booking for you.

You phone the helpline and there is no answer. And nobody responds to your emails.

It certainly seems very in line with an Internet scam.

Don't use BudgetAir

I'm severely disabled and needed to come to the USA for treatment. I'm wheelchair bound and y wife traveled with me. I left South Africa on September 9, 2015 and was supposed to return on 10 October 2015. my medical treatment took longer than expected and started sending emails to Budgetair two weeks prior to my return date to change my reservation. I started getting no reply emails with reference numbers. eventually I received a email asking me for a new return date. The new return date was provided and I left it to them to make the changes. On the 10th of October 2015 I received an email stating the I was a no show at the airport. I sent 30 emails to them with no luck. After calling the airlines and with their assistance I realized that even thought the website for this company has a South African domain name, that they are based in the Netherlands. I'm now stranded in the USA and have to be out of the country by the 6th of March 2016. I'm at a loss for words and do not know what to do. Can anyone help me by advising me on what to do or how to deal with this dilemma I have. If I overstay my visa for America I will be arrested. PLEASE HELP!!!
