The lady at the counter at Hobart airport was rude and got annoyed when asked to provide explanations about the fees. really disappointing.

Folks just be aware that if you book a car with Budget Australia through a booking agent, in our case Holiday Autos they will screw you for extra rental costs. We booked a car through Holiday Autos for Budget in Mornington. The Holiday Autos prepayment voucher clearly stated that the voucher was for the full rental cost, excepting the usual additional charges such as toll fees, fuel etc. We rented the car for 3 weeks, returned it undamaged and with a full tank. A couple of weeks later Budget helped themselves to another $116 saying that the prepaid voucher was only in part payment for the rental which was absolute rubbish. I think it a dishonest underhand way to screw more money fro customers. After some months of dispute with Budget through the agent, Budget agreed to refund – twice, an admission that they were wrong in my book, but they have never made any refunds. After several months of communication Holiday Autos in frustration, made a goodwill refund to me. Budget did nothing and have escaped scot-free with their dishonest business practices. I for one will never use them again and I would encourage all of you to think twice before using them, and if you do use them, carefully check your credit card bills for a month or two after return of the car. They are scoundrels and should not be allowed to get away with these underhand practices. Entice you to rent with their 鈥渟lightly 鈥?lower prices and then helping themselves to more money from your card because they think they should have charged more. Avoid avoid avoid !!!

Terrible customer service and overcharges without real explanation!
Extremely rude older blonde hair lady at the Budget desk inside terminal at Coolangatta Airport Australia, she told me to take pictures of any damages on the vehicle and let the people at drop off point in Emerald deal with it on their end, 鈥淚 would be covered as it would be time and date stamped on photos鈥?WRONG! Terrible information and miscommunication always go back to the desk and show scratches and damages, they are meant to fix up the report before the car leaves the depot. Emerald lady was amazing! Had, had to deal with Coolangatta staff doing this before and put an internal complaint herself about them.
I was overcharged and extra $600, It took a month of me chasing them up and calling them asking for explanations for my refund of the overcharge, Coolangatta again charged the holding deposit which was to be refunded at drop off instead of leaving it as a holding charge????? My bank got involved and things moved pretty quickly from there. On speaking to several different employees at Budget, I was told many different versions of what had happened, including extra charges of relocation fee, which were not included in any of the contract from Budget.

Do your self a favour and save the headache, go with a different company!!!

Rented car from Devonport Ferry terminal. Had to inspect in the dark and wet and then go back to update the damage profile. Car had only 3/4 tank pertrol but didn't understand tank graphics so thought that was OK (though suspicious) until I filled it at the end. When I notified service counter at airport they weren't interested and said unless I reported it at the start they wouldn't even record it let alone do anything about it. Disappointing as I got ripped off about $10+ of fuel. Car itself was good with no faults.

Quick and easy to book, car was clean and no issues with pick off. Helped me out massively as I was stuck in a bind due to issues with my own car.
