Being one of the five remaining Marxist-Leninist countries in the world, Christians in Laos face opposition both from the Communist party, who consider them to be 鈥榝oreign agents鈥? and from local Buddhist leaders, who believe that Laos and Buddhism belong inextricably together and want to keep their country 鈥榩ure鈥? Christians, particularly from tribal areas, are arrested, detained and pressured to renounce their faith. Some are even killed. Conducting church activities require government permission, but the government rarely gives consent. Only a limited number of registered Christian congregations are allowed to have services.
PRAY:

There is a lack of trained leaders as most Christians live in remote areas. Ask God to provide ways for leaders to receive training.
Printing or importing Christian materials is restricted. Pray that God鈥檚 people will gain access to His Word.
Believers from the Hmong tribes are sometimes targeted and killed in army clashes. Pray for their protection.
