This business takes surplus, 鈥榰gly' and short stamped (expiration date is stamped too early on certain foods) foods of all types, discounts and ships straight to your doorstep. It's extremely customizable- size of box, how often you get it, easy cancels, special diets, and there's also a low income application for an even bigger discount. Seriously- check it out

I've been a member for 8 boxes now and I am consistently pleased with the produce I receive. I live in Los Angeles, the deliveries are on time, packages are thoughtfully packed and I've enjoyed the other items they offer. I love this service and will continue to use it. Thanks so much ImperfectFoods!

I really wanted to love them because I like the option to customize my order. I've only ordered from them twice and abruptly cancelled my subscription today. My first order was almost delayed because FedEx needed to reprint the shipping label because is was unreadable. Upon arrival, I realized I was missing one item and two other items was damaged significantly during transport. I contacted customer service and they refunded me for the missing and damaged items. Since they were so responsive I decided to give them another try. This time was a complete disaster. Once again, FedEx needed to reissue a label because my label was unreadable. This caused my package to be delayed.
My order was supposed to arrive yesterday and is still not scheduled to arrive until tomorrow. So instead of taking one day it's now taking 3 days to transport. The heat has been horrendous and I have meat in the box as part of my customization. I had to send three messages over the course of many hours in order to finally get a customer service rep to respond to me. The rep offered to discount my box for the delay and refund me any damages upon arrival. To me this solution is not acceptable. Perishable food needs to be handled which much more care than they are providing. After rebutting and insisting on a full refund, they did honor my request. I was really hoping for a much better experience because I like the concept but feel I need to warn others of the issues I've encountered.

I received my first box two days later than expected. It was extremely hot in the Midwest and when the box did arrived, the meat already had a bad odor and was warm. There was only one warm ice pack (though even if there were 5, it would not had helped in this heat) and most of the produce was wet and some even moldy. I ended up throwing everything away because of the smell. I realize the company doesn鈥檛 have control over fedex late shipments but I still have not heard from them (except an automatic email) and I hope I will get a refund. Better customer service response is needed.

The first package I received had a rough ride. The ice pack was pierced and produce was smashed as well. They made good and quickly refunded the order. Since then I've continued to have an issue with their packing in general. Produce it thrown into a box with way too much room and not packed securely. Your items are at the mercy of FedEx's care during shipping. More than once I've received produce that was bruised. Also, leafy greens in the summer? Forget about it, get too hot during shipping. Most recently I had an order that was missing over $30 of food. Shouldn't have to constantly check boxes against order sheet to make sure you are getting everything. They don't even come with a packing slip, you have to go back online to crosscheck.
I like the idea and but execution has been subpar so far and I'm considering trying a different service.

I have been dealing with this website for some time now. I buy all my fruit, veggies and some staples from Imperfect Foods. I place an order every two weeks and they deliver right to my door. This is an easy site to navigate and is 100% safe website. I would recommend Imperfect Foods to anyone needing or wanting home delivery.

Customer service was amazing and I already enjoyed the products!! I was having a few issues with my boxes not receiving all I asked for, and not because of it being sold out. They hooked it up so well the next TWO times, I am so thankful. Not only that, I鈥檝e learned a lot from their blog and recipe pages as well. Honestly imperfect is such a useful tool and I feel lucky to be able to use this service, this is my favorite subscription box and food service!

I like this company because its easy for me to shop living out in the country. I have to work in town and its a bit confusing when i need to schedule a stop to the store before going home. I love this company the customer service is great if you use their live service not an email. their boxes are nice wish they could package the items nicely would pay extra for that. However i have an issue with the people they send my box through FedEx. I know its not the company's fault but my boxes are crushed or late…very late. The website will say tuesday or an update to that wensday but sometimes i half to wait till Sat to get my box and by that time the meat is almost thawed and the fruit and vegetables are crushed and can not be used. my box does not have a clear delivery time or schedule and it gets a bit frustrating especially when this box is also helping out my parents since the stores around us can not stay stocked

I wish I could give one star. I was intrigued by the idea but you need to enter your credit card details before you can see prices/produce options, but they tell you that you won鈥檛 get charged until you fill your box. When I looked at the products/prices and compared it to my own local store the prices were either the same or higher so I closed the page without adding anything to my box. Next thing I know I鈥檓 getting a $49 charge for my 鈥榥ext scheduled delivery鈥?as they automatically add a standard amount of meat, fruit and veg to your box when you sign up. By this time it鈥檚 too late to cancel the order. When I emailed and said I never ordered this please don鈥檛 send and refund me, they labelled it a 鈥榬efused鈥?box but wouldn鈥檛 refund me. Now I鈥檓 out $50 without even receiving anything. Super shady practices

When I first tried out this site, I was very pleased. I live in a town, that, although it is in the fruit and vegetable mecca, has very poor quality produce. I couldn't get fresh, regular, or varied produce with any reliability.
Imperfect foods was easy to set up, use, and although slightly more pricey, it was still cheaper in cost and better in quality than our local option. It was really nice to get really fresh vegetables and fruit with the use of an app or on the computer.
There were some glitches at the beginning, some items I ordered weren't in the box so I had to regularly check the delivered contents with the online receipt. At times, they would try and substitute in other items for the missing ones, but it wasn't always an equal exchange. Once, after I ordered over $15 of vegetables, and I got a mini pack of 8 chicken and apple breakfast sausages instead! However, the company was very good about refunding the cost of the missing items as soon as they were notified.
After some other small issues that they resolved quickly with refunds and credits, I experienced a stretch of regular, fresh, and reliable produce deliveries every Thursday. It was a TREAT! Fresh mandarins, celery, carrots, garlic, and seasonal treats like purple brussell sprouts, asparagus, and some incredible aged white cheddar.
About 8 weeks later, they changed the order days and the deliveries became more unpredictable and unreliable. And then the pandemic hit. The orders are canceled regularly after 4-5 days of "We're sorry your order is running late…" messages. So I may just "skip" my boxes for a month or two and re-assess.

Only grocery delivery service I know of that actually offers fresh food at discount prices, almost comparable to Grocery Outlet. We get all our fruits and veggies plus basic pantry items like pasta, tomato sauce, olive oil, milk and eggs from Imperfect Foods. The have never let us down and they have NOT increased pricing during the pandemic, which I'm thankful for.

i love this sevice, but packaging and customer service are terrible — almost every time I receive my box, at least 2 items (e.g., blueberries/tomatoes) are totally smushed and all over the box; customer service simply doesn't reply

The produce is amazing. Incredibly fresh, sweet juicy fruit. I love the mandarins! Amazing grapefruit, too. Fresh crisp veggies. The carrots are huge and I was worried when I saw them they might be woody but no, crunchy and taste more like the ones I鈥檝e grown in my own garden than the ones I buy at the grocery store. I one time had an item missing from my box so I used their form online to let them know. I think it might have been 2 days before they responded but that鈥檚 understandable given the covid situation and they refunded the missing item. I also really appreciate that they do not use a ton of excess packaging. I am so happy I found Imperfect!

I love imperfect foods. It has been very difficult for companies like imperfect foods with coronavirus keeping everyone at home. I commend them for doing their best and they have wonderful customer service and amend any issues that come up. No business was prepared for this… but i think imperfect foods is handling it quite well considering. I was a customer before this all happened and i will continue to be a customer once life resumes in new york. Its a good company rescueing food from waste and helping farmers/food producers.

Imperfect also describes their customer service. Actually shoddy would be more appropriate. I've submitted 2 written requests for help and NO response. My Cousin has also been trying for 4 days to find out why she was charged for her order that never arrived. She wrote and NO response. It appears this company hides from delivering customer service while taking people's money. They're just 1 more screw-up from me canceling.

My produce arrived bashed to bits by cans of beans. I mean BASHED TO BITS. There was no effort whatsoever to put the cans on the bottom of the box and carefully package and add the produce. It was so cut/bruised/smashed that I had to throw most of it out. This is not SAVING money or food. I just don't understand. Apparently they are proud of your time- and packaging-saving "just throw it all in" methods, as I've seen them make comments about how these methods "save packaging." Well, that's convenient, isn't it. We don't package or bag or pad any of the stuff we ship because it saves money and time–but we'll hide behind the guise of "saving packaging materials." Ugh. This was my first order and I was stunned. I opened the box and thought OhMyGawd…what have you people done?!? I sent a message to customer service, and I received NO REPLY. Just wow. I will walk two miles (I don't have a car), wearing my mask, to my nearest Target to pick through their produce section in this COVID-19 apocalyptic era and take what's left and it will be a better value than this subscription service.
