My 'crime' was changing my email address, thus creating 2 accounts. Then "Michelle" decided my ads for a fridge and a pump were "not suitable for the site." What a load of ROT. (see fridge and pump photos) Best to advertise in your local paper. Avoid the scams and the idiots that run Gumtree.

Looking for a specific item. Ad 1 the vendor did not reply (is it too much to ask for a short reply?). Ad 2 the vendor was not present when an appointment had been made (they claimed to be "out the back" even though we rang the bell, knocked loudly several times, as well as calling out. Ad 3 When we arrived at the appointed time and place there were two big vicious dogs in the garden which immediately attacked and were only prevented by gate and dilapidated fence (next time?). The owner had no control. When he claimed to have locked the dogs in the house and called us through, we entered the front gate, the dogs attacked again ( not locked away at all) when we ran to our car and escaped he rang on my mobile and was surprised we wouldn't return. Each journey took over 40 minutes each way. Easier to go to a shop and buy the item new. It is a pity you can't give negative stars as a rating on this site

I been buying and selling on gumtree for many years, now I have paid twice a product to be highlighted or be on top of search, they take my money and delete my add with out any explanation, no courtesy to contact me after a couple of attempts to get someone to contact me to explain why my account is restricted. So Ungry now, will definitely change site to sell and buy. BE CAREFUL PEOPLE DONT PAID FOR YOUR ADDS, the could end up taking your money and delete your add..

I don't know why the ACCC aren't doing something about the amount of scams on gumtree. Not only was I nearly scammed buying a tea cup puppie but when I sold some office furniture, anything over $500 value, the scammers kicked in as buyers. They normally claim they work offshore on oil rigs and can't take calls or I even had one who was deaf and couldn't take calls… BUYER AND SELLER BEWARE ON GUMTREE

I recently looked fora removalist from Gumtree. He said he was a family business and been in the business for 15 years but he was the worst removalist I have ever experienced. Mike from Penrith/castle hill.
I wrote a review and tried to advertise his disgusting removal service on gumtree by putting an add about his service and they quickly removed it. Where is the justice I wrote back to them as this man was a rip off. Apparently there is no justice Gumtree just let bums rip off innocent people without any consequences.

There are some great bargains but the site is absolutely stupid. Using the phone where is the search button and you make a search you get results in the 100's that are totally irrelevant. Probably oone of the WORST websites on the internet today! Be careful who you buy off and only pay upon delivery and pickup so buyer beware as gumtree don't care what happens!

This company is owned by SCAMBAY (aka Ebay), which explains the lack of professionalism and engagement with the Australian community. Greedy capitalists trying to manipulate marketplaces in other countries without paying 1 cent of taxes.

As of 18 April 2020, they have done the exact same thing to my wife. I will be contacting our Local MP to address this matter as this website hasn't been able to provide any evidence or reason for closing the accounts despite my several requests for clarification.

We own a small motor vehicle dealership and agreed to advertise our Used Car stock on Gumtree under the Premium 60 program. Gumtree incorrectly charged, and we paid, $2,778.60 in overages over a 5 month period due to Gumtree incorrectly including NEW cars in the number of vehicles they calculated were being advertised by Gumtree as USED. We have been chasing correct data from Gumtree since July 2018. Gumtree did, reluctantly, issue internal credits for all but 1 month (which they continue to refuse to provide any evidence of the charges) but have not provided any refunds to us. So it's off to QCAT now to recover our overpayments, penalty interest, and administrative charges. It will be interesting to see if QCAT finds Gumtree has engaged in gouging, misleading and deceptive conduct, and breach of contract. JUST A WARNING TO BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH THIS BUSINESS!

DO NOT !!!!! waste your time and money on gumtree . They are so welcoming to take your money for advertising but without warning will delete 2000 of my adds without warning wasting hundreds of hours listing them . ####Businesses #### be warned !!!! Your best to take all your adds to marketplace as it is so much cheaper and we are getting way more sales and much better support . Gumtree

It is a well known fact that there is no one over the age of 25 working for Evilbay which is what Gumtree is now since May 2005 when it was bought for at least $40 million. Obviously like the Bill Cosby case there are numerous and way too many complaints about Evilbay using the Gumtree domain to steal money from people as they cancel ads with no refunds and/or terminate accounts with no refunds for it to be false so it is true. This branch of Evilbay will be obsolete by 2020 in exactly the same way as Oztion. Evilbay will cancel your Gumtree ads while continuing to allow the exact same thing to be sold by someone else. This site was clearly bought simply to push more traffic to the Evilbay site.

"live chat" who at first denied there was a problem and then confirmed
there was one. He could not rectify the problem so he forwarded the
complaint to the "tech department".
48 hours and lots of emails later I got an email from some simpleton who
said there was no problem and that there never was one. I tried to
email back but their was NO response.
MY emails to gumtree are ignored and the live chat agents disconnect as
soon as they read the complaint. It must be too hard for the simpletons
to rectify.
To this day the ad does not come up when searching for the vehicle.
Gumtree has left a foul taste in my mouth and I will now be canning
them every chance I get to everyone who will listen! I would give a

Two weeks ago i paid almost $100 for what they call top ads and home gallery ads. Neither is what those names make your believe, the home gallery ad is NOT on their home page!

Seeing that i immediately wrote them a response that i was cancelling that order (in less than half an hour from putting it up), and talking to someone called Hope, she said that i would get the refund within 3-5 working days, so i waited over the weekend, and when nothing happened after the 5th working day, i got back onto them via the chat and that time talked to someone called Ben.

He got all the information and said that he will contact the manager, that all refunds need doing by managers. I asked how much longer i have to wait, he said it takes 1-2 days and that they will get back to me via the email, once it's been done.

It was a Thursday so i thought it should be done by late Friday, but again nothing and after waiting over the second weekend today is the following Tuesday – one day short of two weeks since the original payment – and there is NO refund money and NO EMAIL.

It is obviously intentional when giving the refund takes one click, so i am hoping that this is an eye opener for someone considering to place any paid ads on Gumtree you are probably not getting what you believe, and the refund process is definitely very difficult and they keep delaying it with false promises.

I yesterday told them that i will start writing honest reviews so it's been their choice to let that happen instead of doing the right thing to me.

Gumtree please do not get back to me by 'please contact the customer service'. That is exactly what i have been doing almost every day now – apart from the chats i also submitted a customer service contact email and THERE IS NO REPLY.

Please also note Gumtree that i am not going to give up on getting my money back, so the sooner you act the less damage you cause to yourselves.

NEVER USE GUMTREE!

Paid for an expensive unlimited premium listing only for 2 month to go by and NO SALE. Convenient enough all of a sudden my UNLIMITED listing was removed by gumtree without any refund or notice in advance.

Gumtree claim my listing didnt meet the terms and conditions of gumtree.

HOWEVER once the listing was created and it edited it was left pending till screened and approved before publishing by guntree.

So apparently someone at gumtree isnt doing there job correctly and approved my listing even though it apparently was not within the terms of gumtree guidelines.

So rather than throughly checking my listing and not approving it in the first place they just approve it and take your money then remove it and STEAL YOUR MONEY!!

Holy moly are they incredibly bad and useless.

Posted an ad about a 4 days ago, then opened my ad manager yesterday to find that the ad was never posted. No communication of ANY KIND from Gumtree as to what happened or why. The money was taken out of my account.

So I tried to get in contact with them, and of course I wasn't able to connect to anyone via their "live chat".

I decided to put up another ad anyways, just to try it out again. Same thing, nothing showed up, again, even after PAYING FOR THE AD.

Finally got in touch with someone on their live chat, just for the person to send me a link to their "terms of use".

When questioned repeatedly by me as to why there was ABSOLUTELY ZERO COMMUNICATION about the cancellation of my ad, the staff member simply could not understand my question and kept referring me to the "terms of use" page.

A new low achieved by Gumtree's customer support. My 90 year old grandmother could provide better customer service than them. Completely useless.

I have been selling items on gumtree for 4 + years and regularly have sold items. When items have been on gumtree and slow selling I with bank statements have paid to bump up and also highlight items. Yesterday without any notice from gumtree an item was marked FREE and ALSO MY HOME A FEW MONTHS AGO WAS MARKED FREE without my knowledge! Of course people contact me and assume I was giving my home away or in yesterday's case a new GUESS handbag was marked free so WTF is happening??? I have never given away a free item on gumtree and to do so you have to tick free.

We are selling on gumtree. There is someone out there making offers and us excepting. Then when we ask them when we can meet. They dont bother. Is it legal. Gumtree dont seem to care

This website is okay for locating things for sale in local area. Other than that, it's a website to stay away from.
They don't regulate who posts on there. I've seen many scammers posting ads and gumtree.com.au does nothing about it.

I never realised just how vulnerable you are purchasing items of GUMTREE. NEVER AGAIN.
I just paid $400 plus postage for a Elinchrom Strobe which was sold as in EXCELLENT CONDITION. The locking ring was broken and the strobe doesn't work properly. The seller doesn't want to know anything about it….. Must of all happened in transport, he says. Sorry just bad luck. Wont have it returned or exchanged for another one. THROUGH GUMTREE YOU HAVE NO RECOURSE. YOU CANT WARN OTHERS. THE SELLER CAN BE AS DISHONOURABLE AS THEY LIKE. GUMTREE doesn't even have PayPal protection. AN EXPENSIVE LUCKY or NOT SO LUCKY DIP…….BE WARNED.

I became a member and started selling straight away. With no selling restrictions or fees like eBay but your privacy is protected it is PayPal linked if you want that. I found this site much better for selling locally. I'm also finding small operator businesses like local at-home hairdressers and removalists really helpful.

Posted a very urgent ad for my boat in Australia, got message saying that the ad was confirmed and would be active in a few hours. Received no further communication from Gumtree, found out for myself when it was way too late that the ad was never posted because I posted it from overseas, never mind that the item and the contact were in Australia. Apparently it is too difficult for them to even set up an automated message to inform me that there was a problem and allow me to make other arrangements.
