Unfortunately after review we won鈥檛 be able to reinstate your account access.

When looking into your account, it appears that your access has been restricted because some of the ads on your account do not comply with Gumtree Terms and Policies.

We reserve the right to remove content where we have grounds for suspecting the violation of these terms or the rights of any other party.

Thanks for understanding.

Scammers paradise, Gumtree must have financial benefits letting every scum ripping off innocent people trying to make a pound or two and put their trust in a company who turn a blind eye, this has been a massive problem with Gumtree for many years. And they don't care.

I recently purchased a Thermomix from a seller on Gumtree. it was 拢400. The item was never received and the seller has not responded to any correspondence at all. There seems to be NO support when money is lost in this way. Paypal will not cover because seller asked me to use Friends and Family. I will never buy anything from Gumtree again. There is no help. How can I get my money back?

Ad ref: 1393672628

My money (拢139) was taken and then my advert immediately deleted for no reason. Not even an email explaining why even though I carefully followed the policy. This is fraud and I want an immediate refund. I have closed my Gumtree account and await a response before opening a fraud case with Visa and PayPal.

I don't know if this company has lost its mind recently. There was a time when I could sell things that I owned on Gumtree, which was always a decent alternative to going through the robber barons at Ebay. Unfortunately it appears that this is no longer the case, and they don't want me using their site anymore.

I tried to list my Playstation 5 console for sale, and they immediately pulled the advert from their website. I then tried another two times to post the same advert, only to have it pulled immediately again. I tried talking to one of their representatives on live chat, Rose, who informed me that she would look into the issue and get back to me via email. I later received the following cryptic response:

Thanks for understanding? Sorry, but I simply do not understand this AT ALL. It would appear that they basically do not want me using their site anymore, and they're not going to explain to me why I'm not allowed to sell something that I own.

I have now uninstalled the Gumtree app from my phone, and deactivated my account, and I will never use them again. I am utterly disgusted with them.

Ok, so I have been thinking about buying a puppy, any breed under a year old is my preference and i have been browsing just under two years looking for my four legged friend. I believe no dog on gumtree should be priced over 拢1000 as any dogs that price range should be bought from a REGISTERED BREEDER not a 鈥渂ackyard breeder鈥?or a pet owner whos dog accidentally got pregnant.

Every SINGLE TIME i message a seller about a reasonable price puppy, the advert disappears which leaves me to believe the 鈥渢oo good to be true鈥?prices are scams. Roughly 3 times i had replies back.. i have told sellers i am happy to put a deposit down in person and every single time (different sellers) always say 鈥渟orry puppy is no longer available鈥?. its all very fishy if you ask me. You have mixed breed mongrels listed for 拢4000 which absolutely baffles me. I am in no rush to buy a pup however some of the adverts are very worrying and I believe gumtree should be strict about people listing 鈥渓ive stock鈥?when it comes to response times, how many times they edit their advert and other factors. Sort it out GumtreeUK

Be very careful using Gumtree. I've run two ads in recent months – the first led to an attempted Paypal scam, the second to phishing.
I wasn't taken in by either incident and I have sold items, which is what I wanted to achieve, but security seems weak.
Response from staff to my emailed reports of the security issues has been prompt and positive in each case, but my confidence in Gumtree is now low.
Beware!

On Gumtree we tried to look for plaster for skimming my walls most of these people are not professional trades people and are people who have a learnt as they go and do very poor quality work, they will not give you their details, just a contact number which when things go wrong they do not answer. They will not provide details on where they live or any details of their companies or even their real names, if they have any? . Very Dodgy so called trades people advertising on Gumtree. I hope Gum tree verifies these people? as we have complained about certain people and Gumtree and have not received any response from Gumtree . so more people will fall to their scams

Gumtree is up a certain creek without a paddle. No security, no policing of their site. Unresponsive to complaints and continually fail to take action against spammers. Advertisers be warned, don't associate yourself with this website.

Wish I'd never went near gumtree. They are pathetic and allow harassment buyers to do what they like. Contacting them is a waste of time as all they do is say they take it seriously and do nothing to stop it. I've had to go through other ways to get anywhere. I would seriously stay well away from gumtree as they simply don't care. My family and i are closing all accounts now.

Up a Gumtree, is where you'll be whether buying, selling or just searching. Gumtree don't respond to emails. Gumtree do not police their site very well pandering to occasional users. Gumtree does nothing about spam advertisers. Anything offered for free is soon scooped up by east europeans who sell or export anything they can lay their hands on. I understand that they also sell your details, if that is done in the manner in which they handle their website then criminals will find it easy to obtain your details from Gumtree. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !

I have been posting on gumtree for almost 10 years now. Over the years I have found some sales are fine with no issues. But the vast majority are people making silly offers, asking for things for free or simply not turning up at all. Ive even had one guy sexually harass my girlfriend when she answered the door. I've put up with a lot of rude people over the years and have come to expect this of Gumtree. But now it has gotten a whole lot worse.

Gumtree have added an unfair, umonitored and non-removable feedback feature!

I recently was selling an item and a buyer wanted it, but I was unable to sell it due to a personal loss on that very day. So I contacted the seller to say that I was unable to sell it to them and explained my personal circumstances, hoping that they would understand that selling this was not on my mind at the moment.

Instead what I got was an abusive message calling me rude and thoughtless and that I should be thinking of others instead of myself. Now this came from someone that wanted to buy a decoration knowing that they were talking to someone who had just lost someone. But I was the one that apparently should be thinking of her and not the person that had died. Oh and to top it all….she left a one star review.

So I have been selling for 10 years, yet due to this very nasty woman without any empathy for what had happened, my account now looks like I am a bad seller and thus my sales have pretty much stopped.

I contacted Gumtree who told me despite them agreeing that it was wrong of the woman to do this and telling me they are getting complaints all the time over their feedback feature for this very reason, they could not do anything about it and to add insult to injury I could not review the woman in return.

Whoever put this feature in place clearly has not thought it through at all. How is it fair to allow anyone that interacts with you to leave you feedback?! And how can you introduce a feature that you cannot manage or edit in any way?! Its ridiculous.

I have since started using Facebook for selling and get on so much better.

I very much think that Gumtree has made a major mistake with this feature and with the amount of unfair people on this site, you are just asking for trouble and putting sellers at a disadvatage allowing this to happen without properly managing what is happening.

Either allow sellers to have their feedback removed or remove the feature alltogether.

You might sell for free on gumtree, but you are in for a whole host of abuse, being messed around, thoughtless people, nasty communication and possibly a side of sexual harrassment and now with this added unmonitored feedback feature, you're pretty much wasting your time putting anything on this site.

Gumtree you really need to get this sorted. You are letting your site down.

Gumtree was a good site but they seem unwilling or unable to police their website. Searching for property is a nightmare with a spammer constantly posting wanted ads in the for sale section. I'll stick to zoopla or rightmove from now on.

Need a review section so people can rate time wasters. Lost count how many times I鈥檝e tried to buy something this week, spend my time exchanging messages with people for them to then sell it to someone else and not even let me know..

The staff who run this website are seriously poor at their job. If they don't like something you have posted they will remove it yet let others post the same items thousands of times over. Its like they have a personal vendetta against some people, there is no other explanation because I have contacted them the best part of 100 times over the years, each without a single reply. I can only advised to stay clear and use marketplace, which has no doubt had a huge effect of them so you would think they would be a bit more professional to keep the members they have… Just saying

Only trade face to face. Avoid posting goods and getting hit with paypal reversal scams. Look out for posting 100% risky free to my brother's, second cousin, wee nephews in Nigeria scams.
Best avoided.

The most prominent feature of this site is the number of time-wasters whose lives are clearly so empty that their only occupation is answering ads and agreeing deals with no intention of buying. To be fair the search engine is crap, so a buyer looking for a power tool could easily be shown a hot water bottle, but that's no reason to offer to buy it!

Gumtree is a neat concept, but since ebay acquired this C2C platform, it resembles more and more the outdated, inefficient and clunky ebay parent platform that is stuck in the 90s.

Recommendation: do NOT provide them with a real phone number, or you will receive spam insurance calls claiming you were involved in a car accident.

PROs
+ Free ads
+ Up to 8 free pictures
+ You can sell quickly as long as you upload quality photos
+ Ratings for sellers

CONs
– Your user data is sold to 3rd parties
– Account deletion not possible, hence non-EU GDPR compliant
– If you change the price of your add more than 1/week, Gumtree deletes your listing
– Clunky, slow, cluttered app with limited features. If you want to make profile changes, you must open the equally bad desktop website.
– Unclear when buyer can rate seller
– No ratings for buyers.
There are surprisingly many rude buyers (Why are most of them called Mohamed?)
– Gumtree lowers quality of photos to an extremely low level
– You cannot re-arrange the main photo's 1:1 aspect ration thumbnail
– Ad on bottom covers photos in fullscreen
– Poor mobile website (photos are cut to 1:1 instead of original size and espect ratio)
– Average mobile app
– Email updates are delayed
– Unnecesary email updates that cannot be disabled. I do not need any email notifications when I change my ad.
– Lots of stolen items especially for phones.
If a seller refuses to tell the IMEI number, walk away.

Appalled by the shocking service. No customer support. If a seller decides to sell to someone else, you cannot review or leave feedback.

Never again.

I've bought and sold on Gumtree quite intensively after moving to an unfurnished property – good experiences for the most part and picked up some lovely items and got rid of things of mine no longer needed.
